Oh, baby, I'm getting ready
I'm getting ready to let you go
My hands shake, my heart's unsteady
Oh how I once loved you so

I know all the magic's gone
Wish I had a magic wand
I would put a spell on you
You would see it as I do

Oh, I'm getting ready to let you go
Oh, I'm getting ready to let you go

Oh, baby, you were my drug
And I was just your cigarette
I was nothing you could be proud of
I have lost my self-respect

My self-respect
My self-respect
I have lost my self-respect

Oh, I'm getting ready to let you go
Oh, I'm getting ready to let you go
I'm getting ready to let you go

Baby, baby, we got no traction
I'm just waiting and waiting for your reaction
So I try a new direction
I'm going to give myself a resurrection

I'm getting ready
I'm getting ready
I'm getting ready to let you go

Oh, I'm getting ready to let you go
Oh, I'm getting ready to let you go
I'm getting ready to let you go
I'm getting ready to let you go
I'm getting ready to let you go

Is this a wicked baseline set?
LOL - Patty is a better songwriter - and now she's married to Robert Plant - I'm sure Sheryl doesn't worry about the competition, though.

Fred is a constant delight to me.  And BTW - she's saying "I'm gonna give myself a resurrection." {#Smile}

Okay this was posted months ago... and now Patty is followed by Iggy today —- BILLLLLLLL??  This is a playlist!!?  {#Think}

Uh yes, it is. Bill has to sleep and eat some time. I assume most of the stuff we hear is a group of 5 or 6 tracks that he's put together, then put into the queue to play at a certain time. He's not broadcasting in person 24/7/365, be he is selecting which tracks to put together into a group, which groups to play, and when to edit/delete/create new groups.

F*ck me, this is one rockin' metalfitter of a song! Must get this CD as well as her Red number, which is fantastic, serious rockin' (apart from a couple of country-ish tracks). 9 from the Nottingham jury.

i like this WAY more than the typical girl-with-an-acoustic-guitar-sitting-on-a-stool-all-alone songs i usually hear from her.

Agreed! Not that the girl-with-an-acoustic-guitar-sitting-on-a-stool-all-alone songs aren't nice, but this is way more fun! {#Bananapiano}
I have got to see this woman live, she sounds so good!

Yes! Patti! WOOT! {#Bounce}
Patty's a ROCKIN' GODDESS!!
Indeed. Fitting.
I've been meaning to buy a Patti Griffin disk. Thanks for the great reminder.
Heard some Who-like guitar riffs during the vocal breaks.
this song ROCKS my truck!
I think I heard a Patty Griffin song in "Grey's Anatomy" last night. Anyone else hear it?
Saw Patty do this song live, dancing around the stage with a pointy b-day party hat on. She laced into it, as did her band. The album version does little for me, but to see her do it live . . . Yikes.
appropro, at this moment
The music this afternoon has been fantastic!! I am having a crappy day at work, and this stuff is keeping me going!
She rocks!

This is the kind of country music I like - which is different than 99% of what is now called country music.
YEAH ! more Patty Griffin is always good.
AMEN, AMEN, AMEN! I agree with the others that Patty does a FABULOUS job on this song in her live show. It was the final song of her encore when I saw her April 23 in Albany, NY - and it was the perfect, energetic ending to a terrific show!

That would place her right in The Great Sandy Desert but ok, I'll get me a camel an' make the effort çause I love her!
I took a day off work, drove 300 miles in a gas guzzling vehicle, paid for an overpriced hotel and went back to work the next day and would do it again tomorrow. It was that good. Check some the the youtube videos of recent talk show appearances (ellen, letterman & leno I know for sure are out there) and you can feel a 'feeling' of her live (though this too pales to the reality).

I have quickly (this year) become a Patty fan, but I have to say there is something about this song that doesn't quite gel, or flow, or... something. Hard to put into words. Perhaps the production suffered in some way. Maybe this is what the advocates of the live experience are talking about.

She just rawks this live.
Patty!!!!
