Gray, quiet and tired and mean
Picking at a worried seam
I try to make you mad at me over the phone.
Red eyes and fires and signs
I'm taken by a nursery rhyme
I want to make a ray of sunshine and never leave home

No amount of coffee, no amount of crying
No amount of whiskey, no amount of wine
No, no, no, no, no, nothing else will do
I've gotta have you, I've gotta have you.

The road gets cold, there's no spring in the middle this year
I'm the new chicken clucking open hearts and ears
Oh, such a prima donna, sorry for myself
But green, it is also summer
And I won't be warm till I'm lying in your arms

No amount of coffee, no amount of crying
No amount of whiskey, no amount of wine
No, no, no, no, no, nothing else will do
I've gotta have you, I've gotta have you.

I see it all through a telescope: guitar, suitcase, and a warm coat
Lying in the back of the blue boat, humming a tune...

No amount of coffee, no amount of crying
No amount of whiskey, no wine
No, no, no, no, no, nothing else will do
I've gotta have you, I've gotta have...

No amount of coffee, no amount of crying
No amount of whiskey, no amount of wine
No, no, no, no, no, nothing else will do
I've gotta have you, I've gotta have you.
I've gotta have you, I've gotta have you.
I've gotta have you.

Is this Taylor Swift?
Love me some Weepies. The fan in me is disappointed they broke up (band & marriage). The couples therapist & older human in me understands that shite happens.

There must be more!! We're using music to escape from this disconnected, hyper-urban world that we live in. Music must reach ever-increasing extremes or else remind us of times in our lives where things were better than they are now. It is not about pretty songs, it's about the high.
What do you think now you are older?  life is not about a permanent high, it is about having highs and lows, both make you feel alive.  You may as well be on drugs if you want to live life on a high.  The downs are things that make you reflet on life, what you are doing and appreciating that your life has to be granular to have meaning...

Really nicely paced tune! Well done band and production team!
Quite catchy. Enjoy her voice and the lyrics.
is this the audio for this song skipping/jumping around  for anyone else?
Somehow I now have the urge to play some James Taylor, have some Jamesons and kill myself. Good thing it's sunny outside.
what's that? I nodded off.
Ugh!

I beg to differ, I listen to music for pleasure. However I have a ‘each to their own’ attitude to life and feel no need to push my views on others.

I logged in just to give this the "Sucko-Barfo" rating, which I've never done for any other song on RP.  No, no, no, no, no - not even after repeated listens have I been able to warm up to this insipid stuff.
is this a child singing? bleh.
I like this song very much.  My scale is strict, however.   So, 7.
Adorable song w/ huge barbed hooks!  6 —-> 8
What a pleasant song.

Simple, sweet yet a little on the wet side at the same time. Not for me thanks.

the weepies!! {#Hearteyes}

Hmm. There's an awful lot to be said for simple, pretty song. Then again, if music is your drug, your escape, who is anyone to argue? But before you blast off into orbit, consider this: it was always better then than now, and, no, there isn't anything more. All you have is what you see and what you can imagine. Life is what you make of it. But I digress. You were one your way somewhere. Bon voyage.

I'm only answering because you ask mind you. The composition is nice if you're into sleeping, the lyrics are meaningful to some people I suppose, but the voice. Ugh. It's all through the nose. Like she just got done weeping for hours. I know their name is Weepies, so maybe it's intentional. But really. If it is they should be wiped off the face of the earth and their belongings given to charity.

I kind of run hot and cold with these two, but this song sounds so much like every other song on "Love FM" or other "Lite" office-background FM stations that it just seems to have no substance at all. I'll give it a 6 since it is far better than some of the other hip and trendy stuff being overplayed here and elsewhere.

Not like every other song. Clever lyrics. Intricate rhythms. Nice weaving of the two. Good harmonies. So it's more subtle than standard Lite pop fare.

Simple and sweet. All in all, nothing wrong with that.

Grows on  you.

I adore this band...perfect rainy Thursday afternoon drinking gin and painting still lifes in an old t-shirt music.  {#Cheers}
When i first heard this song i thought she was singing "no im not on coffee, no im not on crack" and thought it was hilarious. What a disappointment, now this song lacks something..
Neat, sweet, and fun to play with a capo.  Elegant in its simplicity.

Oh, and I totally agree with utt73 about how strong memories can lock you into a song.  And vice-versa.
Nice light romantic pop.  There's room for that in my world.  Good choice!

Some people have a sweet tooth. And something about sweet is more enjoyable when it's simple.
This is pretty blah... well titled band. * begin sarcasam* some one hand me a kleenex *end sarcasam*
I'm loving these guys added to Iwant list
No, no, no, no!
Don't know "The Weepies" but this is quite catchie...!
What a GREAT contrast between the lyrics and the sound.
I don't typically like this kind stuff but I've gotten soft over the years. 8

Agreed, and well put.
I am having dentist drill flashbacks, where I last heard this song I think.
Bought the album after hearing this song. From the inside cover:
both candle and the moth crazy around it. say who i am. say i am you -- Rumi
Just thought that was incredible...
There is always room in my personal music library for a well-crafted piece of pop. That said, I'm shocked this never made it onto the OC playlist. Sounds like it'd have been a shoo-in.
Got dumped hard a while ago. Feeling this one.
I see it all through a telescope: guitar, suitcase, and a warm coat Lying in the back of the blue boat, humming a tune. . . Is that like the back of the blue bus?

Love the weepies. Be sure to check them out next time they are at the Paradise (Rock Club)...
mmm, Wurlitzer electric piano...
the more i hear this song, the more i like it.
Up to a 5 from 3. . .but I think that's just because I'm becoming accustomed to hearing this song. Familiar and comfortable but still stupid.
FABULOUS song! And the story of how these two songwriters came together is beautiful and inspiring: (click here)
I heard it at night, through my dreams and now at work...nice. Lovely.
Pleasant melody.
I upped this to a 7 from a 5 . I wasn't sure if it was going to eventually make me barf or not when I first heard it but I still like it.
i'm sitting here getting goosebumps and can feel myself welling up and its just the music doing that this is awesome thank you Bill!
Yea, really nice and mellow. Keep em coming!

Yep, that's Deb Talan. Her last solo album, A Bird Flies Out, was excellent. Bill has played "Unraveling" from that one a few times.
Oh yeah, it is her definitely. Thanks Ken. Deb Talan has this amazing song "Ashes on your eyes" :)
Very nice album from start to finish
Gotta have them PeePies.

I gotta get this!
A song from a soundtrack waiting for a romantic comedy.
No amount of pain, no amount of crying No amount of tears, no amount of dying No, no, no, no, we gotta pillage you! Nevermind me folks; My mind is with the middle east. Excellent song though. 8/10.
hmmm never heard Weepies before. What a sweet voice.
If songs were described like drinks... this might be one part Indigo Girls, two parts Alison Kraus (which I wrote *before* the follow-on song of Alison and Union Station) and a dash of Guster. I dig it. :-)

The Weepies? Who came up with that name?
Someone coined the term in the 30's based on women's pictures, three-hankie films, melodramas, soap operas, tearjerkers, chick flicks/etc. Steve/Deb decided to use it to name their band. Any deeper meaning looks to be in Ken's post below.
I wish more artist would realize more can be transmitted with less. Simplicity is complex enough. Aesthetically, over embellishment ends up sounding like clutter. Thank you, Weepies.
First time I've heard this and I'mm really liking it! Serene and chorus sure describes my state sometimes.
Very catchy little pop Tune...Pretty..But WEEPIES...Sounds a bit like an open wound....
Love the Weepies, thanx Bill!

As I heard them explain it at a show, the name refers to their wish to stir/reflect deep emotions -- both happy and sad -- with their music. They also acknowledged the name's similarity to that of the Wailers ("we're all born wailing"). But what's in a name? I think that the Beatles is a pretty crappy name, and I love their music. Both band names catch your attention when you first see them, if nothing else.
The Weepies? Who came up with that name?
First song of theirs I've heard on RP and I like it.
