Lowell George's daughter. I saw her perform several years ago and found it a good and memorable show. This song is among the weaker, though, of the cd I bought at that show.
I absolutely agree!

Ugh what a way to start a day. They say that if you swallow a live frog first thing in the morning, the rest of your day can't get any worse. Same theory here I guess.

Could she sing it any slower?
We all do and or say foolish things at times. Three of these songs in a row, must be slightly serious... Hope it works out Mr. Radio-Paradise-Man!
Joe Jackson was brilliant.

I agree, I prefer the original but this cover takes the song to a different place where the sun sits lower in the sky and where the shadows this song casts are longer.
Oh how lovely - you are a poet indeed sir!
The original then is a thunderstorm IMO

I never heard the original, so I like this cover. Good descritpion, it's pretty much the feeling I had listening to it.

What a good description of the original song. This is an interesting and pleasant enough cover but makes no impact. Its totally forgettable.Look Bill,
Fool me once, shame on me.
Fool me again,
well...
You shouldn't do that.
anyone?

Four people have rated this a 10.
That's... weird.

They say the rule about doing covers is not to, unless you can make the song your own. This cover certainly follows that rule. She's made it darker, moodier, really changed the whole emotion behind it. I love Joe's original, but this cover is OK with me.

Roger that. I know of Bill's affinity for covers of covers of covers, ad nauseum, but sometimes it's best to "just say no," especially when there's absolutely no redeeming quality to said cover.
I think I might like this version if I didn't know the Joe Jackson version
as it is it gets a meh

This has to be a record for the most overwhelmingly negative comments ... whew. Doesn't anyone have anything have anything nice to say?
Not me.
Not me.
Exactly!!

Oh dear. And oh dear, I have to agree. And oh dear: doesn't it go on?!
Horrible! Cutsie little girl voices are intolerable as they are. They're even worse when they ruin great songs. Please don't play it ever again. It's absolute torture.

This cutesy version lacks the raw emotion of the original and does not replace that raw emotion with irony or a different take on the song.
Move along, now. Nothing to see here....
Joe's original sounds like he's got poison in his mouth as he spits out the lyrics. He's disgusted with the "Fools in Love", especially himself. I'm not gettin' that from this cover—and I kinda think that was the whole point of the song.

Wow. So this is what a castrated song sounds like. Ick.

Nice melodic song. Would make a good lullaby for a baby. Kinda sweet.
Not with those lyrics! You don't want to rob the baby of its illusions.

Yawn.
Yikes. What a lost opportunity. This tune would actually lend itself to a re-interpretation, but this is so mannered and unimaginative as to render it inert.
Made me stop, and listen to the original.

well, it's decent. not anything more.
Agreed
pretty. a good showcase for Jackson's interesting melody.
Ok as a ballad, but it has no oomph behind it like Joe's flash energy.
I like this.
Never saw the show. Not a Joe Jackson fan so i didn't have any preconceptions.
I went back and listened to a snippet of JJ's version. it's completely different. I prefer this one. Sweeter and goes with the lyrics much better.
Nice to hear that it's Lowell's daughter.
While we're on the subject of covers, which we can obviously all agree are always a positive thing, How about Midge Ures rendition of Jethro Tull's Living in the Past?
Can't hold a candle to the original.
a perfect 1!!!

Some artists just shouldn't be covered.
Guess I'll disagree. Check out Different for Girls: Women Artists and Female-Fronted Bands Cover Joe Jackson. Excellent disc with some unique interpretations. This remake, BTW, is nicely done.

Would be much better if she could sing.
Blow up your Tee Vee!
The Joe Jackson original is so much more moving!

Yeah, I'd say that sums it up for me too.

The singer's voice sounds a bit like Hope Sandoval to me -- thought this was Mazzy Star at first.
I really liked this. She has successfully made the song her own in some way. Not better than the original Joe Jackson version, but more like an interpretation. That's what defines a good cover.
I like this! don't watch Grey's Anatomy so never heard it before. and I totally didn't get that it's JJ's song until I thought about it. I agree with the person below who said that a good cover is one where the artist makes the song their own, and George accomplished this.
Wow, Lowell's daughter doing Joe Jackson, and now Bill segued into Joe himself ....nice!
Boring...the original is so much better.
Nice! The sign of a great song is when it can be covered like this in a different "style" and still sound great!
i like it. i like the original, too.
Actually, on her album All Rise!
Lowell George's daughter.

Why not just play JJ's version?
I like Joe's WAY better too...but RP is all about experimental covers.
Why not just play JJ's version?
about as blah as the show itself
