If you'd like to walk a while
We could waste the day
Follow me into the trees
I will lead the way
Bring some change up to the bridge
Bring some alcohol
There we'll make a final wish
Just before the fall
Promise I will be forever yours
Promise not to say another word
Nevermind what's done is done
Always was a lucky one
Watch the sunrise all alone
Sitting on the tracks
Hear the train come roaring in
Never coming back
Laying quiet in the grass
Everything is still
River stones and broken bones
Scattered on the hill
Promise I will be forever yours
Promise not to say another word
Nevermind what's done is done
Always was a lucky one
Promise I will be forever yours
Promise not to say another word
Here forever deep beneath the dirt
Nevermind what's done is done
Always was a lucky one
We could waste the day

David Grohl is one of the nicest guys who ever lived .
The acoustic album was a game changer for me.
RIP Taylor Hawkins

This song was good for about a minute. Then it was just droning.
But, but, they're so QUIET
Nice to hear a Foo Fighters tune that doesn't turn into a screamfest by the end of the song.

It's amazing how much that one low piano note adds.
First time I heard this: at the ends of a Kleptones album..
From Dave Grohl?

I tapped a tune like this on my family piano when I was 12, thought it was pretty. Lyrics like a 1st year poetry major. Only missing "standing in the rain", and "I don't know why I feel so bad", or "I will always love you". As deep as silk.
i hear a bit of Massive Attack thrown in there...

Heard this first via Kleptones... it's odd hearing it this way.

Wow! This is and always has been my favorite Foo Fighters song. Spooky but settling, and brings a dark pine-y green to mind. Always brings me deep, deep into the woods of my mind.

I had to replace the duct-work for the dryer vent that day, which meant crawling around on my belly in my aptly-named crawlspace. After struggling through those unfriendly confines, while being covered with these insects and unceremoniously adorned with dryer lint and mud, I came back to my computer to listen to some music. Aside from the bouquet of damp, acrid, sub-floor timbers in my sinuses, and the persistent feeling of soil in my hair, there was a peculiar tingling at the nape of my neck. I reached 'round and grasped one of those abhorrent critters which had stowed away on me. It leapt to the keyboard and gazed at me with its hollow, black eyes and I knew I had to kill it. Fortunately, I resisted the impulse to slam down the LCD screen of the laptop and grabbed a ruler which lay to my right - just beside the mouse pad. Oddly, it was a metric ruler, which I had no recollection of ever acquiring, and no knowledge of how it came to rest upon my desk: perhaps my son brought it home from school. Anyhow, the shorter-than-twelve-inch ruler still seemed adequate to rid my keyboard of the insidious, six-legged trespasser. The cricket, apparently also befuddled by my possession of a measuring tool which was not calibrated in U.S. Customary units, hesitated long enough to be whisked to my left by a less-than-elegant sweep of the puzzling ruler. The beastie was cast into a pile of unpaid bills which lay on the floor and I quickly rolled my seat back and stood, stomping upon the pile with the fervor and resolve of a one-legged tap dancer. Convinced the creature was dead, I walked to the kitchen for a beer; not only was my quest fruitless, but I heard a chirp from the other room. When I came back I saw my cat examining the pile of mud-tracked bills. The accursed cricket was still alive, though not for long - my cat had seen to that. He's a good cat.

Maybe it's my mind-space now, or the environment... I love this. It makes me feel okay. And I always love Foo Fighters.
"Still" and "Everlong" - they just never came out with any songs that could match those. I love them both. There have been derivative versions of those two, and that tends to make matters worse. I have always felt they are capable of much more than those two songs, but it probably won't materialize. At least it hasn't, IMO. Keep fighting, fighters of foo.

The below comments are inaccurate. "Foo Fighter" does not come from FuBar. It is 1950s slang for Unidentified Flying Object (UFO).

Awesome! Great song! Esp. the piano is a beautyful!
Sounds like these guys try real hard to create some good music, and I like that...but it still seems to come a little short of something really compelling where I'd want to buy their stuff and listen to a full albums worth. The emotions there, but they dont seem to be saying anything that I need to hear.
I am a big fan of the FF, however, I think this album is the worst.

There is no musical similarity, zilch, nada, between Nirvana and the Foos.
The only connection is Grohl, in two completely different roles. I'm a big Grohl fan - for somebody who grew up in public he's remarkably level.
He was/is a great drummer but in my view Nirvana was an overrated band.
The Foos don't always hit the mark either, but when they do they're more musical than Nirvana ever was.
Well said.

Completely agree.
sounds like Gomez
...i really really like this song, a lot, but something i can't quite put my finger on about that bass note is very reminiscent of early cure...something from faith or carnage visors, i think, i'm not sure...
Fooey...I love the Foo's but they aren't better than Nirvana
I think I concur

Gosh, I thought I was being pretty polite. I never watch Larry David, but I'll take your word for it. I can't think of a more polite way to point out they were being rude. "Don't be an asshole" is more rude, right? That's all I've got.

I think that overrated circus-act of a frontman was choking this band off. It's nice to hear them in their proper form. I'm so sorry folks but I just don't understand why Cobain was so worshipped. He was just another self-absorbed, pissed-at-the-world child who couldn't relax and enjoy just being in a rock band. And he could not sing.
1. I think the most obviously errant part of this comment is that you seem to think that FF is just Nirvana without Cobain. FF has ONE former Nirvana member, the drummer. This isn't like comparing Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship - they're totally different.
2. I think the frontman of a hard rock band SHOULD be a circus act.
3. If you have a problem with people being disappointed with life, okay. But let's not pretend like millions of people aren't just like him (myself included, some days). If you're never self-absorbed and pissed at the world once in a while, I honestly don't think I've met another person in the world like you. It's not uppers is it?
4. The history of rock music, if it shows anything at all, is that you don't have to be the best musician to be good. Cobain expressed how a lot of people feel sometimes, in a fairly original way.
I'm sorry it's not your thing. But I think you're being pretty rude about it.

I'm not even gonna try to explain it. If you don't see the importance of his influence and don't feel his music, then that's your own thing, but too bad, cause you're missing on some beautiful soul music.
I'm not missing the music - that's the best part. But it's coming from those other guys in the band. Thanks for being easy on me I'm sure I pissed off a lot of people with my opinion :-)

Well, now I know better. And FF is sounding less and less like that other incarnation, these days, as well. Whether that's good or bad, I'm still not sure...

How is the rest of the CD?
This comes in a two-cd set. The first CD is more typical FF hard rocking stuff. The second CD (from whence this song came) is very chill and lovely.
