Heard her on KRSH last night... really liked the song "Something to Me" from her latest. She will be in Santa Rosa in October, playing for free.
I'll check her out.

And Lucinda Williams... Not flattering....
1. Whatever happened to Trish Murphy?
2. Guitar licks are way too Jeff-Lynne-produced-sounding.
3. Apparently this is the only song this gal ever recorded. At least listening to RP.
Wow, only heard this song a million other times by a million other artists. I think they just clone them and give them different names.
sucko-barfo.
Saw her last week in concert in Paris (where she seems to spend a lot of time). Great concert. Just her, the lead guitar player (from Texas) and a long-haired tour manager !

Mulder, where are you going??
Or "Trouble Over Me". Man, I just love those lyrics. No doubt it's my favorite song of hers.

She's an amazing show live... and yes, her first album is great. Check out "Supposed to Make You Happy"...actually made me cry when I first heard it.

The truth is out there!
Great voice, but the tune's a bit too twangy. She's better than the genre she's singing in.

Had to adjust this from an 8 to a 9. Outstanding.

No question!

Is it just me or does this girl look and sound almost exactly like Cheryl Crow?
think she sounds more like Patti Griffin.
Scully!
Sounds like Over the Rhine!

I'd agree, except I prefer Tift's vocals. I was listening to Sheryl's debut CD "Tuesday Night Music Club" and couldn't help but notice she seems to struggle to hit a lot of the notes. Tift seems to hit these notes with ease.
I don't think she's dating a member of the US cycling team either.. but i could be wrong (wah wah)
Two things: 1) Tift looks at least 10 years younger (and in my opinion 10 times better) and 2) NEITHER of them is dating a member of the US cycling team. Now. ;-)
Still a likeable tune. (and I like Tift's vocals better, too)

Quite a lovely voice! I can't really place her music into a genre...gotta admire that.
Nice to hear such good song from a more recent artist. Bless her for noting the Joni Mitchell phase (AMG biography). Respect for one's elders is so rare these days. :nodhead:

I'm with you! Saw her in Minneapolis at a small club earlier this summer. Great show. Very powerful voice and great lyrics. A 10 all the way!
Now THERE'S a name to say carefully in mixed company. :footinmouth:
Great sound. I'm liking this mucho.

I like her first CD better...
She had me with the first notes of the song.
I'm really liking this! This is a great piece of music.
EDIT: ...and if her whole first cd is better than this, wow.

I got a postcard with an old address,
A picture of Houston in a creased-up mess,
Just to remind me that it all went wrong,
Just to beat me up, just to turn me on
Stray paper, stray paper, stray paper,
Burning in my hands
Cigarettes in the glove box with the classified ads,
Ashes and silver worn in to your hands,
"I got to see you" on a bar napkin,
Gas station quarters, I got to see you again
Stray paper, stray paper, stray paper,
Burning in my hands
Somewhere there's a letter that I never sent,
It used to read pretty, now it's empty as
That night in the headlights with the blankets pressed
Was it something to you baby, or was it always just
Stray paper, stray paper, stray paper,
Burning in my hands
Stray paper, stray paper, stray paper,
Burning in my hands,
Burning in my hands,
Burning in my hands
