My wife said she thinks this is the saddest song she ever heard, when we saw her open for Patty Larkin. This whole album (Season of Rain) is excellent, by the way. The other Merrie song on RP is also on the same album. Merrie often tours with Patty, and appears on her albums as well.

This song indeed conveys melancholy effectively. The vocals are interesting for the variations in one person's voice. I can understand about 40 percent of the lyrics, a pretty good percentage for this site, the selections, and my PC--limited auditorally (Is that a word?). I would like to hear more of her. I especially liked the guitar work on this piece.
