Feel, feel it grow
In your mind, in your mind
Life is how you live it
Through time, through time

And there's no desert sun that is hot enough to feed your fire
We shipwreck like fools only to become the ocean's choir
And the sun dies until it's reborn
But there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

Got lost on the way, but you found the road again
Stay true to your friends, 'cause they'll save you in the end

There must be something in the air, in the air
Some kind of answer to my prayers, to my prayers
Some kind of answer to my prayers
Been dying since the day I was born
'Cause there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

I have a vision in my mind of a life that I've left behind
Yeah, can't you see that lost souls can't swim
You know you'll sink, but you still jump in
And it's alright to get caught stealing back what you've lost
Yeah, don't you know that lost souls can't swim
You beat them back, but they drag you in
And I can't say that I am sorry for all my many sins

And you try to find the love that'll see you through your darkest days
And her soft brown hair is as long as a Canadian highway
And the sun dies until it's reborn
But there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

Been dying since the day I was born
'Cause there's no road that ain't a hard road to travel on

There must be something in the air, in the air
(repeat)

Just for that +1 to 9

There's no reason to be  so vulgar because you don't care for something. Just say you don't like it instead of making a point of insulting the artist and his listeners. Maybe at least try to act civilized?

Sigh.. As a Canadian, I feel compelled to agree, and yet, there's SO MUCH BETTER CanCon than this garbage. I stand by my 3 rating.

Super Sigh. There is much better Canadian music than this dribble.
Bill, Play 2112 all at once. Neil deserves a tribute.

Great lyrics! When folks say "Must be something in the air..." there usually is ....
CANCON, gotta love it.
Excellent older work by The Sam Roberts Band. They've tended to go more mainstream and "poppy" but still put out great tracks. Saw them a couple of times and most recently in San Diego a few years ago and man, they can put on a great show, even if it was for less than fifty fans.

You listen to music on mainstream radio?  I didn't know anyone did that anymore.

Didn't everybody?
The more I listen to stuff, the more I think the art of a good pop song is to do something catchy with an incredibly limited box of tricks. This song has got it.
Wonder if this guy listened to Weezer growing up.
What an awesome hour an 1/2 here at Radio Paradise!!! Yes, this is why I come here.  Calexico, New Order, Fleet Foxes, Guster, Steve Miller, Emancipator, Down Like Silver, Colors in the Air, Sam Roberts.  I have been bed ridden for two weeks and haven't even had a chance to hear any RP but now, I am DANCING!!!!!  RP reinforces my joie de vivre.  OMG!!!!!!!!! So glad to be alive.
Nice voice.
Good title as I put the final touches to packing for a short road trip
not my favourite Sam Roberts song, but a great one none the less!
Hey great to hear Sam on RP! Thanks Bill!
thought it was guster for a moment...

Sam Roberts is probably played more on mainstream radio in Vancouver than he is in lexvegas ;)
Two of Us, anyone?

Funny- first time I've heard it. While conscious, anyway. But I like it, so could understand being played a lot.
Sam Roberts headlined at the Canada Day celebrations at Parliament Hill on July 1. Good show. There were about 250,000 people there. Apparently the appearance is Prince William and his bride brought extra people down for the celebrations.
I do like this song, but it's a bit overplayed these days on mainstream radio.
Getting some Beatles vibes from this, especially the solo guitar. Sounds somewhat similar to Rain, which can't be a bad thing.
How is this guy not more famous in the states?

Yet another artist of whom I'd never heard until now.  Thanks, RP - I'm getting quite a collection of music "wants."  All I need now is to win the lottery and buy a radio station - I already have the music programmer! {#Roflol}

There's a couple very solid cuts on the new album "Love at the End of the World" that would be more than worthy of making the RP playlist... you listening Bill and Rebecca? :)

I totally agree.  I saw him play live this past summer, and it was a great show.

I recently heard Sam and his band live on the radio, they played a couple of songs and were they ever tight! {#Good-vibes}
Thanks for resurrecting this nugget. I've missed it on RP in recent times.

Totally agreed, Chemical City is an inspired bit of songwriting and performance that sounds way less formulaic than WWBIAF. Give "Mind Flood" a spin RP, and I will guarantee good ratings.

Anyone else hear "All Apologies" in there?
We were born in an explosion: an orgasm. You could also call it the Big Bang.

For a non-Canadian audience, hearing it on RP might be a novelty. One of the shortcomings of Cancon - a chronic overplaying of stuff that should be brought out only occasionally. SmilinJimmy - lead the way!!

Hurray! Nice to hear some Canadian stuff. Saw him in Montreal in April and he was AMAZING!

Sam has some good stuff... but the Canadian (eastern media) has certainly put this guy into the spotlight His music is OK but not Godlike by any means. Some good tunes... but no divine messanger or anything like that

I think it catches you but then in a few minutes it seems pop-ish. The lyrics are somewhat interesting but then seem simple-ish. You know what I mean-ish?

One of the first new tracks to which I was exposed on RP... AND one of those tracks that made me a dedicated RP listener!

I've seen the Hip at the Fillmore in SF. Awsome show. Not exactly a "bar"

"C", but don't worry, that's all of us here
This sounds good! The thing I like about RP is that you get to hear good music like this that wouldnt normally reach our distant shores.

this song (the entire album, in fact) rocks! "don't you know that lost souls can't swim/you know you'll sink but you still jump in...and I can't say that I'm sorry for all my many sins"
Two big thumbs up for these Canadian rockers. Great album, start to finish

It's two weeks later and I was about to say, "Cool" and rate it. Been there and done that, I guess. At least I'm consistent.
Nice, driving rhythm, blend well with the vocals, nicely produced. An 8.
apparently sam is playing at the fillmore in SF tonite. if anyone attends, please post a review or at least what you thought of the show.
Go, Sam! Pretty cool stuff playing here.
Through and through, this is one one the best albums I have heard in a very long time. It's my favourite house-cleaning music, and there's not much to love about house-cleaning. But there's alot to love about Sam.
The perfect way to describe a quintessential Canadian musician! masterhead wrote:

I can't speak to the cute thing, but I saw him open for the Tragically Hip last year and he was great and so was his band. They all had great energy and were a perfect warm up for the Hip.
