I don't feel the sun's coming out today
It's staying in... It's gonna find another way(yeah)
As I sit here in this misery I don't
Think I'll ever See the sun from here

And oh as I fade away
They'll all look at me and say, and they'll say,
Hey, look at him I'll never live that way
But that's ok,
They're just afraid to change

And when you feel life ain't worth living
You've got to stand up, and
Take a look around, then you look up way to the sky
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreamin' boy, 'cause when you stop dreamin' it's time to die

And as we all play parts of tomorrow
Some ways we'll work, and other ways we'll play
But I know we can't all stay here forever
So I will write my words on the face of today....
And they'll paint it

And oh As I fade away
They'll all look at me and say, and they'll say
Hey look at him, and where he is these days
When life is hard you have to change
When life is hard you have to change

…this list goes on and on.   This is what happens when Grunge picked up the heroin lifestyle and glamorized it after everyone else and figured out that it was a dead end with the tragic losses in the 70s.

But Eddie Vedder lives, we should be very grateful for that.

None of those people ever accepted the "grunge" title, it was put upon all of them without their consent.
Just love the Alternative movement. The spice that makes music different.

yes.  from an eyewitness in the crowd in Vancouver that night. It was  during the performance of No Rain. Ironically, a city known for its rain.  The irony was not lost that night.

Agreed, with extra emphasis on how big pharma PUSHED their "medicines" on people.

And now we got a drug that makes heroin look like salt-water taffy. Worse yet, you don't even have to shoot the shit up - they're fricken lacing joints with it (and killing people). I wish we could get all the people profiting from fentanyl, and put them in a cage together.  :(

Chris Cornell died from suicide. But your larger point is spot on.
Oh please can I have the sound coming out of both speakers equally?!     Makes me want to fall over.
Not bad, and just the fact that it’s not No Rain bumps it up a couple notches.

Yes. Great choice. We we used to listen to this album like crazy in high school back in the 90's. Probably went through about 3 of these tapes. We used to pan the song to one side so it was just vocals. Made my day, thank you.

One of my most favourite songs of all times!! Never heard this on RP before actually.  Weird!  I sing and play this one on my guitar regularly.  This entire album is amazing and I can never get sick of listening to it.  Shannon Hoon you left us too soon!!

Botanically, pumpkins are "classed" as fruits - they have self-contained seeds and are the ripened ovaries of flowering plants, as are tomatoes.  Vegetables are generally stems, buds, roots, bulbs, or leaves of edible plants.  Sorry for interrupting recess: as you were.

In the words of a number of artists "Only the good die young" This was obviously before the time of Amy Winehouse.
Play Mouthfull of Cavities!
Very. Good. Music.

RIP Shannon Hoon

is that Little Miss Sunshine on the cover art?
Just brilliant.
Had a chance to see these guys live in a smallish venue just as No Rain was breaking - I think they went on to tour with the Stones later that year? Anyway, they were so good, you could really tell they were playing music light years ahead of some of the so-called jam bands they got compared to during that era. Real talents, such a profound bummer about Shannon.

Exactly... I'm sure lots of musicians died at 25, and at 26, and at 28 (like Shannon), and so on... I have a feeling that if you average it all out, 27 has absolutely no significance.  In fact, I would further suggest that you would just start to see a bit of a rise around 75 or 80, but that doesn't make news...

20 years ago this sounded like it was from 20 years ago.

Yes, this is a good band. Sadly for some reason, commercial radio tried to sully their good name by force feeding just one song of their repertoire down our throats breeding undeserved resentment and non recognition of their talents.

Maybe I'm different, but determining whether a band is "great" isn't done by the number of hit singles they have, but what impact their music had on their fans. I mean, N'Sync had a ton of singles...were they a great band? Some of my favorite bands are local bands that never made it big; I'd consider them great because of the impact their music has had on my life & what it has meant to me. Blind Melon was one of my favorite bands of the 90's, hit singles or no, and this song is probably my favorite of theirs.

As far as categorizing his death as a tragic loss, I don't see this as any more of a reach than saying the same about Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, or JFK, for that matter. Public figures (entertainers or otherwise) have an impact on people's lives, and the sudden loss of these figures also has an impact. To me, Shannon's death was tragic, in that a) he was a young man in his prime with a young family and his daughter will now have to grow up without a father, and b) his music & lyrics are inspirational, and the fact that he died means that the force behind the music died with him.

Nicely said.
Great tune and a simply fantastic CD.  I think you really have to hear the whole thing in its entirety to appreciate how nuanced this band was
