Ah, it's a happy time inside my mind
When a melody does find a rhyme
Says to me I'm comin' home to stay
Oh, Lord, home to stay
I'm comin' home to stay
Home to stay
Ah, lord, it's just the same old story
Something about love for glory
A nickel and a dime a dozen
Fame
Ah, it's such a shame
Ah, the way they use your name
Ah, you know it's such a shame
When it's only mine to sing a song
Hoping that you'd cross along my way
Before I have to move along
Ah, now move along
Ah, but I'll be back again
Ooh back again
Ah, it's a happy time inside my mind
When a melody does find a rhyme
Says to me I'm comin' home to stay
Oh, Lord, home to stay
I'm comin' home to stay
Home to stay
Sleep late now mama
Let the mornin' sun warm your bed
While I'm away
While I'm away
When a melody does find a rhyme
Says to me I'm comin' home to stay
Oh, Lord, home to stay
I'm comin' home to stay
Home to stay
Ah, lord, it's just the same old story
Something about love for glory

Hard to listen to Tim without thinking about the tragedy of both his and his mostly estranged son, Jeff. The combined musical genius from this blood line is indescribable. Too bad Jeff didn't have a child (or did he?) before his early death to see if the musical genius DNA would have carried forward. Thank you RP, for keeping both of their great music alive all these years later.
So beautiful, so tragic. Damn.

The Song is called 'Happy Time', the lyrics are merry... So why does poor Tim sound like he's in pain in this song?
I counted eight 'aah's, two 'oh's and one 'ooh', so perhaps he's not in pain but ecstasy... if you catch my drift

I really like Tim Buckley. I didn't like him when he did Bob Denver.
this tune definitely moves my soul
"Ah, the way they use your name" - sounds like a massive yawn creeping out.

I somehow missed Tim Buckley over the years, until Radio Paradise dialed me in. I prefer him to Lord Buckley, as well as Jeff. But, somehow this song is something I have heard in the distant past and never again until tonight. With so much recorded music now available, selecting the wheat from the chaff (a mundane analogy), the gems from the rough (more exciting), and the gold from the dross (pure lucre) is a huge challenge. Bill and company are up to it and the comments here confirm that yet uncounted numbers of us deeply appreciate this.
Yeah, Lord and Tim is a valid compare and contrast, right?

Sorry, but I just had to bump this!
album photo has me imagining Tim and Roger Daltry facing each other with a maraschino cherry held between their chins, slowly doing a Dervish Swirl, long curls akimbo
Sorry, but I just had to bump this!
He is gone but this song is eternal and hasn't aged at all
So nice to hear some Tim - especially this user friendly tune.

Not sure why I rated this a 4 to begin with. I must not have been in the right mood. Moved it up to 7.

The cover version by Brendan Perry is 10x better than the original!

In this period of his music, Tim Buckley always makes me think of dodging out of the rain into a warm and humid Berkeley coffee house. I don't recall hearing this song before, though. It's very nice, a good one from Mr. Buckley.
first time I've heard this song, but unmistakably Tim Buckley
Such a sweet force of genius.
Such a loss.
Such a loss.
