i dunno. i think it's a good cover. i enjoyed it a lot. the indigo girls are a guilty pleasure of mine, i think. heh.
Joan Baez' voice doesn't do much for me, but the harmonies are as beautiful as Peter Paul and Mary's version of this tune.

What lovely soaring vocal harmonies! Joan Baez' voice was always "angelic". Simply beautiful, these voices together with the simple acoustic guitar. Nice job! 
The Susan Tedeschi version of this is even better IMHO.
Baez sounds great but who are the Burly Men singing backup?

In all events, I was reacting to your reference to Baez as a "militant lunatic" a characterization that seems rather extreme, unless one wants to call her songs about social justice, civil rights and the Vietnam War "Marxist" and "lunatic," which could lead to people using labels like Neanderthal.
As for the artists played on RP....we could roll thru a few hundred rock group web sites and public statements if we wanted to check politics and a 20 to 1 ratio would be a safe guess. But, you're right, it's not worth the time. Back to the music. Glad we're friends again!

Look, I am certainly devoted to Dylan's version and Joan's original version. But this version is so beautiful it made my mouth fall open and I still haven't closed it. GORGEOUS.

well, it is indeed an exceedingly earnest rendition, and they did it their own way.
sometimes a cover lets you hear things you never heard before in a song.
of course sometimes you're attached to the original and the cover loses something that made you love it in the first place. like those weird country versions of Pink Floyd songs that set my teeth on edge.
a lot of people must have said Jimi Hendrix's covers didn't have the soul of the original, but they do have their own soul.
