Unneeded cover.

Meh. A mere shadow of the classic original.
This isn't bad, I gave it '6' but The Ramones do a better version!

good grief - having seen the Chambers Brothers play this live and heard their version many times since, this is a sadly deadly version by comparison...

One of the truly great songs... but now I'm off to listen to the Ramones.

Why?
at least it's not Kid Rock, still an epic fail
Fun cover!
No. It's just wrong. My mind put up a wall and said no, it must not be this cover of a truly great song.
You guys oughta hear The Ramones' version of this on YouTube. Killer!
Steve Earle did a great live version of this song with his current band members The Masterson's when I saw them back in June. Steve sounded good, Chis Masterson's guitar work was amazing, as was Eleanor Whitmore on the fiddle and the many other instruments she plays. A great show overall.
*hmmm...yeeesh*...I only heard the last 45 seconds. I think I need to hear it again because that was odd.
One of the truly great songs, and this version is worthy of it ... but now I'm off to listen to the Ramones.
Unneeded cover.
Great song..then and now
Nice cover. Sheryl Crow doesn\'t hide her vocal talent and Steve Earle sounds great. Compare it to the original if one must, but I prefer to enjoy it on its own merit.
now, please play the GOOD version...or maybe not, it couldn\'t handle the comparison
people, this worked WHERE it was - it was the song that the credits rolled over in \"Steal This Movie\", the bio of Abbie Hoffman. It was actually quite good there. I think everybody needs to be JUST a little more open minded here...
With all the Sheryl Crow covers we\'ve been hearing lately, I\'m beginning to suspect she did a cover CD like Joan Jett did with \"The Hit List\". What a waste of bits.
Nice idea but, the execution leaves a lot to be desired...
Hideous. Uninspired. The meaning of this tune has completely been stripped away, plus the vocals suck. The backgroud guys yelling \"TIME!\" is very lame. They sound bored.
The original is great.
I kinda dislike this remake. This verson just doews not have that feeling, that vietnam anti-war setiment attached I guess.
I give this verson a low grade.
my soul\'s been psychedelisized! :D
I like it better than Sherly\'s cover of Zep\'s D\'yermaker!
oops. wrong song, right moment.
Dot
this.... ummm..... how should I put it..... SUCKS!!!
This is just so very very wrong.
Maybe next we can get Shania Twain doing 'White Rabbit'
Joan Jett did a good cover of this.

You got that right Leslie :)

Conversation with myself:
"Well, what do you expect? Faith Hill already did Janis Joplin. This just adds to the sacrilege."
Nope. Just doesn\'t have anything distinctive or new to say using the old tune. Rather pedestrian reading of a psychodelic classic I grew up with.
Musically speaking, this remake works for me, but there is a vocal expctation that Steve and Sheryl just don\'t meet.
Like (sometimes even love) them both, but not what they did to this song. It sounds a bit like AC/DC's Thunderstruck(!) and I even liked that better.
enjoyed this and wouldn't mind hearing the chambers bros version again.
update. saw the 60 minutes interview with sheryl crow last night. she is a classically trained musician who is funny, smart and very easy on the eyes.
Great cover of a classic tune...
Some things should be left alone
It's a tribute.
