Mother do you think they'll like the song
Mother do you think they'll try to break my balls
Mother should I build a wall
Mother should I run for president
Mother should I trust the government
Mother will they put me in the firing line
Is it just a waste of time
Hush now baby baby don't you cry
Mama's gonna make all of your
Nightmares come true
Mama's gonna put all of her fears into you
Mama's gonna keep you right here
Under her wing
She won't let you fly but she might let you sing
Mama's gonna keep baby cosy and warm
Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe
Of course Mama's gonna help build the wall
Mother do you think she's good enough
For me
Mother do you think she's dangerous
To me
Mother will she tear your little boy apart
Mother will she break my heart
Hush now baby, baby don't you cry
Mama's gonna check out all your girl friends for you
Mama won't let anyone dirty get through
Mama's gonna wait up till you get in
Mama will always find out where
You've been
Mama's gonna keep baby healthy and clean
Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe
You'll always be a baby to me
Mother, did it need to be so high.
h8trhater, you are a presumptive dick, about the person you're referencing. And not too bright either -You don't realize that you are the most hateful person on this site. I've read so many of your posts, and you are more full of hate and/or intolerance, save a few instances, than anyone else here. And I m sick of seeing your posts of pompous righteousness. Maybe you should change your screen name to just H8r... Or Nancy .
Go back to worshipping your orange tin god.
I assume this insight of yours is driven by self awareness.
No, just an observation of the orange tin god you worship.
Best album ever, to calm your nervers, to put you to bed quickly, to cry, to think, just universal.
This song has excellent guitar solo, and it is absolutely fantastic, up to date and ages like a fine wine. 10/10
This used to be true for me, but I believe I may have heard the album and watched the movie too many times. Listening too much may be why this album hasn't aged well for me. I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and this used to be my favorite album for years, so I feel like a heretic in saying this hasn't aged well for me, but that's what happened. Earlier Pink Floyd than The Wall, however, remains timeless for me!
Except that the person that you are referring to probably never cared about what his mother, or anyone else for that matter, thought. A narcissist and sociopath only thinks about what he wants.

It's h8rhater. Who's spewing the negative vibes and name calling now? Perhaps you were just having a bad day Jelani?
Saw him in SF a couple of weeks back. Excellent show.
I had to laugh though, when the show opened with a guitar-solo-less Comfortably Numb.
Sadly every Waters album sounds like The Final Cut, he never really got past that. Gilmour had more range, but still ends up sounding like a cross between The Wall and Dark side. Their greatest music was always produced together.
I've always thought that PF embodies the thought that the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts.
The Wikipedia image perfectly sums up the band IMO: pragmatists Gilmour, Wright, and Mason, on the same page, staring straight ahead; creative Waters looking for new inspiration but out of sync with the other three, staring off to the side; and Syd gazing up at the ghosts that haunted him for decades.
I don't know...more like the three giving it their rock star pose, and the artists wishing they were somewhere else.

Very impressive summary - BRAVO - completely agree!
Says Einstein...
As I understand things, Einstein was not a fan of this concept. Unless I misunderstand your comment, and you are behaving badly toward a fellow RP listener,
My wife always tells me I need to get out of the '70's ... here in 2021.
It's difficult for me.
Take for a wistful trip there...maybe she'll see sense and stay with you
It's difficult for me.

He did always want Daddy to love him, Fred or Vlad.
My #2 Album of All-Time
My #43. Still pretty good though. Seriously though, what's your #1?

I agree with what you say whole heartedly
The time signature change is also creatively effective, if not daring. I love it!

The very definition of a politician.
Not so much a cover, more of an exact replica save for Vedder's voice.
The latter blew my socks off!
A search on your tube is worth it if you're so inclined....
Seems to sound better with headphones.

I think true inspiration is breathed in (roots of the word) undaunted by the mental constructs of the receiver. Regardless of any of his beliefs or his actions - (and who are we to judge?) - there is plain and simple genius here. Not only in these lyrics but in the universal language spoken by the whole group.
Mozart could barely keep his life together - his relationships, his health, his finances - but hopefully we can agree that he was rather superb at receiving and transcribing his inspirations . . .
^this is stupid

In addition to vinyl, we ancients had these little things called cassette tapes; and we had special players in our cars for these tapes.
In fact, I made several copies of this outstanding album on cassettes for friends; editing out some of the longer sound-effect stretches.
(Truth was: I'd take any excuse to listen to the album all of the way through one more time).
Oh you pirate, you! Don't you know that Cassette Tapes Kills Music!!? Because what you did in the 70's, Bill is now legally required to play Rick Astley 1 time per century, which is one time too many! Everyone! Commence harsh fingerpointing on my mark!
(laughing, ducking for cover )

Are you writing about the wall around the Fletcher Memorial Home for Incurable Wasters of Life and Limb? If so, I'm with you!
"Mother, should I run for President? ... Mother, should I build a wall? ... Mother, should I drop the bomb? ... "

Do you know the story? This mother was not the kind of woman you want to answer your questions. If you haven't see the movie, check it out. "Mamma's going to put all of her fears into you" should give you a sense of what I'm talking about.
Sublime.
Sublime.

Yes, unfortunately relevant.

You must be a Devo or a Slipknot fan.
For the record, one can appreciate Pink Floyd and Devo equally. Slipknot? Not so much...

Should I build a wall?
Should I run for President?
Should I trust the government?
Is it a waste a time?
…some songs stay relative because history, unfortunately, repeats itself
"...you are right from your side and I am right from mine, we're both just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind..."
I like how it twists your knickers so hard. Every. Single. Time.
Or, you just need a little more wisdom to appreciate it.
Well articulated and right on, man.
amen

This ain't one of 'em.
If I ever said anything she knows where to find me.
LOL!
Let's see... I have this rated 8, the average rating is 8.5 and we all know that this album was incredibly successful.
So children, wanna be successful when you grow up? Smoke dope and pass gas.
Precisely! I see we have a Professor of Economics on the site.
it should win the "Pull it, sir Prize."

It has already been built...
Bill wouldn't do that to us. It would be torture equivalent to waterboarding and is the sort of thing the Geneva Convention forbids.
This level of hyperbole marks you as a "sangano" vice a wise king.
agreed, multiple times a day. Didn't know this was a classic rock station.
Waaah!

You're so cool. I want to be just like you when I grow up.
So apropos our times!
"Mother, should I run for President? ... Mother, should I build a wall? ... Mother, should I drop the bomb? ... "
The players and the props may change, but the themes don't change all that much.....
