Well, I don't wanna be President
Superman or Clark Kent
I don't wanna walk 'round in their shoes

'Cause I don't know who's side I'm on
I don't know my right from wrong
I don't know where I'm going to
I don't know about you

I'll be the rain falling on your fire escape
And I may not be the man you want me to
I can be myself, how 'bout you?

I don't wanna make you mad
I don't wanna meet your dad
I don't wanna be your dream come true

'Cause I don't know just what I've found
I don't know my sky from ground
I don't know where I'm going to
I don't know about you

I'll be the rain falling on your fire escape
And I may not be the man you want me to
I can be myself, how 'bout you?

I'll be the rain falling on your fire escape
And I may not be the man you want me to
I can be myself, how 'bout you?
I can be myself, how 'bout you?
I can be myself
How 'bout you?

About as middling as middling can be...

When was this Fastball last thrown off the Fire Escape on RP?

Bill's going deep lately . . .
These guys opened for Collective Soul here in Boulder back in Fall of 2001; they put on a great show. They had quite an entourage; it nearly filled the floor seats!

 Indie pop americano gone bad....too mediocre to be anything but forgetable. {#Frustrated}
This is one of those bands where, while I've always admired their style, I've never really loved the songs... sort of a weird combination.

"And I may not be the man you want me to" (be).  Grammatically, what is wrong with that?

Ironically, or not, "The Way." BTW, they're still around. Put on quite a show at my little town's spring party last May.

Reminds me of that song by The Replacements...what's it called...oh, yeah, I remember: "I'll Be You". Catchy good song.

Stories like these make song comments so enjoyable to read. Thank you.
You have many better tunes to play, why waste time on this?
It's mooooore than a feeeeeeeling, mooore than a feeeeeling ... oh, wait.

You're probably thinking of The Way. And I agree :)

the non-hit from a classic one hit wonder!
YEA well a lot of true 1 hit wonders would be happy to have at least 2 decent hits, 3 or 4 good albums and still be together 10 years later. They are playing 10/26 here in Austin at the venerable Saxon Pub.

What ever happened to Fastball? I always thought that they did a pretty good pop song... better than the drivel we get these days anyway. I had this record on a cassette tape and wore the thing out.
Yeah, they go apart and come back together, rinse and repeat. Still hoping for another hit. And who knows?
The other ''hit.''
Thank you! Great song that never got much attention.
Yes!! This is the second song from the "Iron Eagle" soundtrack this morning!!
Great album, deeper than you'd expect, wish we'd here more from these guys.

They're still around. They were performing near Dallas early this month...

Wow, this is a blast from the past. High school, even. I'd completely forgotten about this song. Good one, though. Better than that other hit of theirs.
WOw, Haven;t heard this in ages...good stuff even if though it is pop
This is a bit of a surprise. I like this tune in a sappy, poppy sort of why. And I liked the girl in the video...
the non-hit from a classic one hit wonder!
I haven't heard this in years. Complete forgot about it.
