It's crowded in the kitchen
Everyone's trying to speak
Everyone's got an opinion
Everyone has a belief
There's an elephant in every room
No one's taking out the trash
There's a million miles that come between
The front door and the back

If the world was a house
And it was on fire
Would we just put it out
Or let it burn higher?
We wouldn't be strangers
We wouldn't be enemies
We'd run into danger
I'd save you, you'd save me
If the world was a house

Secrets in the basement
Closets full of rage
This house is leaning right and left
It's never stood up straight
On the porch they're praying to Jesus
Upstairs they read the stars
Lookin' for a hammer
Lookin' for a nail
To keep from falling apart

If the world was a house
And it was on fire
Would we just put it out
Or let it burn higher?
We wouldn't be strangers
We wouldn't be enemies
We'd run into danger
I'd save you, you'd save me
If the world was a house

If the world was a house
We wouldn't be strangers
We wouldn't be enemies
We'd run into danger
I'd save you
You'd save me
If the world was house

The song is great. Rare 8 from me.

On the other hand, The Secret Sisters seem to be unfamiliar with for-profit fire brigades, like the one owned by Crassus.

Wikipedia wrote:
The first ever Roman fire brigade was created by Crassus. Fires were almost a daily occurrence in Rome, and Crassus took advantage of the fact that Rome had no fire department, by creating his own brigade—500 men strong—which rushed to burning buildings at the first cry of alarm. Upon arriving at the scene, however, the firefighters did nothing while Crassus offered to buy the burning building from the distressed property owner, at a miserable price. If the owner agreed to sell the property, his men would put out the fire; if the owner refused, then they would simply let the structure burn to the ground. After buying many properties this way, he rebuilt them, and often leased the properties to their original owners or new tenants.

If the world was a house
And it was on fire
Would we just put it out
Or let it burn higher?
We wouldn't be strangers
We wouldn't be enemies
We'd run into danger
I'd save you, you'd save me
If the world was a house

This just choked me, for real, for a while, and the artists deserve a big ass 9 for the beauty they spread.

Nice song also ;)
Really lovely. I thought, Hey, sounds like Wye Oak... Another nice new discovery on RP!
Another band by Phoebe Bridgers? Oups, hard to be fully original these days.
Beautiful sentiment
got to love metaphoric songs
Really pretty. I get almost Simon and Garfunkel vibes but with like Mazzy Star mixed in and through it all.
Definitely a nice addition - a little Enya, a little Halstead, Obel and more.
Second 😉

Nice song
