Well it's a strange old game - you learn it slow
One step forward and it's back to go
You're standing on the throttle
You're standing on the brakes
In the groove 'til you make a mistake

Sometimes you're the windshield
Sometimes you're the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're a fool in love
Sometimes you're the Louisville slugger baby
Sometimes you're the ball
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're going to lose it all

You gotta know happy - you gotta know glad
Because you're gonna know lonely
And you're gonna know bad
When you're rippin' and a ridin' and you're coming on strong
You start slippin' and a slidin' and it all goes wrong, because

Sometimes you're the windshield
Sometimes you're the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're a fool in love
Sometimes you're the Louisville slugger baby
Sometimes you're the ball
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're going to lose it all

One day you got the glory
One day you got none
One day you're a diamond
And then you're a stone
Everything can change
In the blink of an eye
So let the good times roll
Before we say goodbye, because

Sometimes you're the windshield
Sometimes you're the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're a fool in love
Sometimes you're the Louisville slugger baby
Sometimes you're the ball
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're going to lose it all

Sometimes you're the windshield
Sometimes you're the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're a fool in love
Sometimes you're the Louisville slugger baby
Sometimes you're the ball
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you're going to lose it all

GREAT TUNE!   Even without the bourbon!  Thanx RP!

I find that Mark Knopfler pairs nicely with a glass of Booker's.

The recording of this album is brilliant.
I love Dire Straits and their music, and sometimes hearing any music recorded so well enhances the experience to great heights!
Excellent!!!

Yet, The Dude abides.

And where did Country music come from i wonder?

I've heard the Mary Chapin Carpenter version numerous times.  I'll admit that as this came on, I thought was a cover.  Actually this is '91 and her version was '92, so I learned something this morning.
Not sure if the Bananas were designed for this track or the track was designed for dancing bananas
Great rhythm work.

A class act
For those who like jousting... Sometimes, the knight kills the dragon. Other times, the dragon kills the knight.
A fun track, from what I recall was a rather weak album.   (But they can't all be "Brothers In Arms")
Great album and song...awful cover art...
Fresh  youthful touch fr the beatifull 90s,,Yea

great track - you're rocking today RP

Mary Chapin Carpenter did a very respectable cover of this song back in the day.  Worth a listen.

I agree and they should call it Mark Knopfler!  ;-)

That Dire Straits guitar twang...  It's not country.   It's not western.   It's either Mark or their producer ?

But they should patent it.

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes, well, he eats you.
I love doing my Elvis impersonation while singing this song. I'm sure The King would have covered it.
love it ! line dance anyone?
Fun. Goofy lyrics that are also very wise. Me likey. But then, imho, Mr. Knopfler and the Dires seldom misfired.

A fun song from an underrated album, IMO.
An old time favorite of mine from so many years ago. Great to hear it again!
This is a great addition to the RP library, I think. I was excited to hear it!
