City's breaking down on a camel's back
They just have to go 'cause they don't know whack
So while you fill the streets, it's appealing to see
You won't get undercounted 'cause you're damned and free
You got a new horizon, it's ephemeral style
A melancholy town where we never smile
And all I wanna hear is the message beep
My dreams, they got her kissing, 'cause I don't get sleep, no

Windmill, windmill for the land
Turn forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love has freely
Turned forever you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?

Laughin' gas these hazmats, fast cats
Linin' 'em up like ass cracks
Play these ponies at the track
It's my chocolate attack
Shit, I'm steppin' in the heart of this here
Care Bear rappin' in harder this year
Watch me as I gravitate, ha-ha-ha-ha-ha...

Windmill, windmill for the land
Turn forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love has freely
Turned forever you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?

Windmill, windmill for the land
Turn forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love has freely
Turned forever you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?

EXCELLENT!    Thanx RP!

As a general rule I'm not a fan of covers, but I like this.

Not sure if the guitar solo works with the balance of the lower tempo softer majority of the song.

You're right, it has more feeling than the rest. Just me, but the guitar solo was the only part I enjoyed.

I like that she didn’t do the rap. Nice cover: solid 7!

But she did to the rap, just with the same tired delivery as the rest of her rendition.
Awful remake. How did this one slip into rotation?

I gave a 7 on this listen. I like the Gorillaz version, but this is quite likeable,  it just makes me feel good.

7>8 cause it's fun and growing on me, and a nice guitar solo.
I quite like this version.  I must say I really enjoy covers in general. Some are horrid but most are pleasing to me.
Her attack contains no chocolate.
Hey I like this version! It’s nice and different, makes me happy.
Nice song choice of course, and the thumping baseline is catchy, but I just can’t wait for the trendy mumble/marbles in the mouth Billie Eilish era ends. Girl has vocal skills but for me, when they start to try to sound like they are 12, it doesn’t work for me. 5/10
Nice guitar.  One of my fav Gorrilaz tunes.

Love this…a lot!

is that a ‘when doves cry’ drum beat with the guitar solo?

Garbage

Now a Garbage cover of a Gorrilaz track - wouldn't THAT be something

Well, it is the Feel Good corporation after all.
missing the funk frankly
6->7
This just makes me want to hear the original version.

Check out the independent artist "Ren" - his "Hi Ren" he helped change my opinion of newer releases,  then down the rabbit hole you go.

As reluctant as I am to disparage an artist, I'm hard pressed to find anything the artists brought to the original Gorillaz version. Nice tune. Liked it when I first heard it .

The guitar solo has some nice tone, other than that it is a watered down version of the original. At least they didn’t Bro Country it up.
How does one cover Gorillaz? Well, like this.
First listen, me likey.

I prefer the Gorillaz version.

me too but they both are fun - great guitar on this one

Nope.
Blur to a Gorillaz cover. Nice sequence.
Garbage

I like this version more than the original.
Lost its groove compared to the original.
not a big fan of remakes (lazy) but I like this one . . .
Lovin' this for the dynamics

Nothing can beat the original, but this is pretty darn good. Guess it's hard to mess up an amazing tune.

agreed. i like it better each time i hear it.
Pleasant enough but a radical rework of the original Gorillaz tune this is not.  Hard to top  classic tracks unless the cover artists bring their own  spin to the song (e.g. Cocker's "With a Little Help... " etc).

This cover’s growing on me. Good job.
Similar in parts to U2's "Staring at the Sun".
Billie Eilash covers Gorillaz? I love this song and the original.
I hear this cover here on RP way more than the original.  I think he Gorillaz version is much better.
An improvement on the original -> 8.

Well, she brings a blistering guitar bridge in the middle.
This is one of the few tracks that makes me turn off RP for awhile... a soulless cover that's on much too often.
Bland and boring cover of a great Gorillaz song.  Why bother.
Guirar solo has some nice tone. A little less weight on this one. I heard it, didn't like, heard it again and gave it another chance, like it even less, heard it a third time and am annoyed (I know, my problem). All this in a week, let's put this on back on the shelf for a bit please.

Meh... Gorillaz with zero passion

Wait.  What?  You hear passion in the original?  Passion?   hmmmm...

Is this longer than the original. It won't end!
Hated the singing. Copy paste in rhythm and intonations. Sucks.
BUT great guitar solo!!!
 derhey9416 wrote:

My thoughts exactly....
Nice cover yet while technically proficient, the guitar solo seems out of place...
Meh... Gorillaz with zero passion
Eeeeeeehhhhh.  Unnecessary cover, and if I wanted to hear a kick-ass guitar solo there's an entire genre of power metal (also Band-Maid) that could sate that thirst.
Is another cartoon character singing this?
Is that a singer or a plug-in selected to "Eilish" ?

im just here for the cover version reviews *eats popcorn*

Spoilers! I'm only in the beginning of the song and now I'm dreading a solo.

did not realize this was not The Gorillaz, as my brain went, "nice to hear some Gorillaz." Nice cover, jury's out if it joins the original in my favorites.

Nah. No. Nope.

The female voice adds to this cover for me.

Another needless cover.

But It's with Mateus Asato, man!
feel good...ahhh yes w/ Mateus Asato
good
Another needless cover.
I do like the vocals on this cover.  It's certainly a preference thing but Damon's vocals are not always appealing to me even when I think the songs themselves are good.

This is my favorite type of cover.  Taking a familiar song and doing it a different way.
