A creature void of form
Been so afraid of everything
I need a chance to be reborn
I never wanted anything
That someone had to give
I don't live here anymore
I went a long way with you
When I think about the old days, babe
You're always on my mind
I know it ain't like I remember
I guess my memories run wild
Like when we went to see Bob Dylan
We danced to Desolation Row
But I don't live here anymore
But I got no place to go
Beating like a heart
I'm gonna walk through every doorway, I can't stop
I need some time, I need control, I need true love
I wanna find out everything I need to know
I'm gonna say everything that there is to say
Although you've taken everything I need away
I'm gonna make it to the place I need to go
We're all just walking through this darkness on our own
Time surrounds me like an ocean
My memories like waves
Is life just dying in slow motion
Or getting stronger every day?
I never took our love for granted
You never left me wanting more
But you'd never recognise me, babe
I don't live here anymore
Beating like a heart
I'm gonna walk through every doorway, I can't stop
I need some time, I need control, I need true love
I wanna find out every thing I need to know
I'm gonna say everything that I need to say
Although you've taken everything I need away
I'm gonna take it to the place I need to go
We're all just walking through this darkness on our own
Beating like a heart
I'm gonna walk through every doorway, I can't stop
I need some time, I need control, I need true love
I wanna find out every thing I need to know
I'm gonna say everything that I need to say
Although you've taken everything I need away
I'm gonna take it to the place I need to go
We're all just walking through this darkness on our own
We're all just walking through this darkness on our own
We're all just walking through this darkness on our own
We're all just walking through this darkness on our own
We're all just walking through this darkness on our own
I know some will disagree - my opinion only, but don't all their songs sound the same? It seems the drummer only knows one beat... Nothing against anyone who likes/loves it - have fun...
yep - still decent though
but yeah
singer to drummer: "play beat #1"
drummer to singer: "you got it boss"
I do like their music, but would partially agree with this statement. But they are no worse than a lot of bands that have a certain, distinctive sound.
I agree. But then again, I can tell you the name of 80% of the bands out there in the first three notes. Each artist has their own sound they seem to gravitate to.
I dig this song, but thought it was an 80's tune! Distinct 80's sound. Can't believe it's 2021.
I honestly thought the same. It definitely has the 80s sound to it

I love these guys, breath of fresh air from Philly. Thank you B&R. That said, the rhythm section could use some inspiration. Drums and bass are a one trick pony.
Completely agree. They get *way* too much play on RP. This is the only negative thing I have to say about RP. One of the many positives about RP is the skip song feature. I use it whenever TWOD is played!
Their sound is recognizable, but I can easily find other groups with creative credibility whose songs have a similar sound/vibe across their output. I like the sound and find the overall sound, although recognizable as theirs, is mesmerizing. We all have our peculiar preferences.
Being the responsible parent that I am, I felt it appropriate to introduce my young(er) son to a wider range of music than that which his (now 11-year-old) buddies listen to. A wide range for sure, from Elbow to TWOD to McCartney to The Tragically Hip to Foo to REM, Radiohead, Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, Spoon, Tom Petty, etc. I also wanted him to have bragging rights when asked what his first concert was (mine was Bowie), so took him up to LA to see TWOD as his first show. They played at The Shrine Auditorium which was a beautiful venue, but unfortunately the sound was terrible in the 2nd level seats we had. The sound bounced everywhere and perhaps because of those acoustics, the show was incredibly LOUD. TWOD put on a great show and jammed for a good 2 ½ hours, just too bad the sound wasn’t better. Still, for my son, while his buddies are listening to Bieber (no offense to Bieber fans), he’s got (subjectively) better taste…and bragging rights.

Funny how new songs take awhile to match up to the older ones (Deeper Understanding is perhaps one of the best albums of the last ten years - so good). This song is growing on me...deep meanings, slight twist in sound.

Are you instead referring to Arcade Fire?
Yes. So many strong musical and lyrical influences with this band. Their songs have the requisite energy to prove it...
Worst band in the world, even more shit than coldplay
"i dont live here anymore"
fucking great you bunch of twats and stop making "music" you suck
Why do you even comment? You must have a really unhappy life.

Such eloquent language. Bet you weren't home schooled obvious product of our public school system.
Let's look at our shoes for a moment...& Shooooooo gaaaaaze!

For anyone interested, here is Adam Granduciel's explanation about how this song came about.

Yes, definite 80's retro-chic vibe. Not a bad thing.
Anyone have a suggestion for the best album?
How about starting with "A Deeper Understanding", Grammy Award for Best Rock Album 2018 ? Or "Lost in the Dream" 2014.
It grows and grows, man this one is just huge, even though you don't know it immediately. I can't stop playing it over and over again

Reminds me of The Church.

This song deviates from the "standard" chord progressions of most of the previous stuff I've heard from them, but it's a similar groove, similar tempo; that's their "sound". I understand its appeal, but it often seems like a drum machine where he not only doesn't alter the phrasing or style, but doesn't even change the BPM setting. It works for them and their fans.

Drummer?...thought it was machine. have other albums not this one
Too bad I'm not really positive about this one...(I also did not recognize it as The war on Drugs stuff). Well maybe it needs to grow on me...
Cheers
Yeah, I know it's only pop music, but that redundant two or three chords with a lot of overproduction is par for the course for The War on Drugs.

It feels like their attempt to have a hit on the pop charts or the mainstream (whatever that is these days). Not up to the level of anything off of Lost in the Dream or Deeper Understanding but the vocals from Luscious do it for me.
