There's a place in the distance
I thought I'd like to tame
and when I saw my reflection
and I spoke its name
it made me sweat
it makes me sweat

When you hear this confession
don't give it no pity
it”s just a song to add
to the tower of plenty
inside there’s a room
with a view of the alley
and when you close the curtains
you hear the heat pipes coughing in your head

let me show you how to love
what it is to be the fool
when you find yourself a spotlight
on the outside of cool

a punch in the face
is sometimes a blessing
highjacked by a moment
you should've been expecting
it makes you sweat
it made me sweat

how the voice of a shadow
has been misunderstood
without religion
the cross is just wood
so shed a little light
on what it means to good
like the soul of a prayer
that finds the heart of your neighbourhood

let me show you how to love
what it is to be the fool
when you're standing in the deadlight
and you're polishing your shoes
let me show you how to love
what it is to be the fool
when you find yourself a spotlight
on the outside of cool

let me show you…

Couldn't think where that opening came from, until they sang 'Tower'. Of Song.
unsure what made me rate this 6. perhaps i was tired or didn't read the lyrics; just looked and upped the rating to 7. next time could change but the lyrics are fun
At first seconds I expected "Yesterday" to come. But then - what?

I'm going to write this without reading other comments first. The song caught my attention in the first few notes  and made me stop what I was doing. As the song progressed,  I said aloud "wow, this song keeps getting better and better" to nobody in particular.

Totally agree, and the PtII version is even better, I think.  This was the track that started my journey with RP.
Honestly not. But it is really nice.

I'm not sure of what you just said, but I like it too!  Thanx RP!

3rd 1st comment for me today.

Apparently my 3rd 1st comment in a day gets the thumbs down from some other listeners.

Sine the lyrics in this song mention "poiishing your shoes"
Does that put it in the shoe gazing genre?
Can't explain it. I love it.
Its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!
Yup the lyrics speak to my youth.

Nice! ...I gave it a 10. ...normally not my type of music. ...if it didn't have the drums, it would have been a 6-7. ...nicely recorded. ...right now I am listening in FLAC, with 40yr old Sennheiser HD 414 headphones, Schiit Modi 3 DAC & Schiit Magni 3+ amp.

Something kinda funny about shit talking the Schiit stack ;-)

I am just now starting the cash draining hobby for home audio, got the decent desktop 2.1 channel setup and now looking for a slightly more than decent head-fi setup.  Gear suggestions welcomed!

Long Live RP and expensive hobbies!!

Linn make some great streaming sound gear. The new stuff is really expensive because they've put the AMP inside the speakers. I have some older gear and run active speakers. Audiogon is a decent source for used equipment to keep the costs in line.

Less is more!
I will reiterate: my choice of track of the year for 2020. Great and deep message set to an amazing vocal and musical arrangement. I seriously would like RP Community to suggest other great tracks from 2020 in response to this comment. (I rated it a 9 btw)
Or keeps getting more mediocre. Slightly grating. Different strokes.
this one gets me - the lyrics are good

Same here
I didn't want to like this song...

...but it's so good. And it just keeps getting better. Help, I can't stop listening to it!

Not many songs I can think of that mention shoe shining in the lyrics.
Don't suppose that puts it in the genre of "shoegazing"?
Mark is from Canada, lives in Berlin. Their project started in 2018.
Klingt doch ganz gut.

Un ligero parecido a Gomez
7.1? Solid 9 all the way... this track is inspired! Maybe RP AWARDS SONG OF THE YEAR!

Wow, there is a superb video to go with this tune (titled, for some reason Outside of Cool v.2).  I like the sly lyrics. Thanks for tossing some new music at us, Bill and Rebecca....
Thats a groovy, psychedelic tune that sent me into deep thoughts
From their Facebook profile (via Wikipedia):

Kliffs write recycled tone poems for the perpetually bemused, and pop songs for shy dancers

Being a shy dancer, I can appreciate this.

Good tune, and this band is new to me. I assumed it was a bit older. Will have to check out some more music from Kliffs.
Love the title and the imagery.  Thanks for finding it and playing it!
