You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in fields of gold

So she took her love for to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in fields of gold

See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold

I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold

That drum click in the background is driving me crazy.

I would give Eva Cassidy's 1998 cover of this song a 10 and leave this at 9. If you haven't heard her version listen to it. To my ear it is Godlike.

I sort of agree. But I'm judging on where I was the first time I heard Sting's version.  And how happy I was that day. Stopped me in my tracks. I hadn't yet heard Eva's rendition. Just a gorgeous song.
One of my first 5 CD's, if I remember correctly. I liked to use this one for testing sound systems because of the clean snare. Plus, I just really like it!

it's a great song,  but there's so many great songs on that creative pop album that you really should pick this one last to play on RP
(I Dont want to rate overplayed songs down,  does it coerce you to play other tracks?)

His work was better solo than it was with the Police.

thought he was a real prick when I watched a movie about their reunion (well, based upon Andy Summers book); he may be but just went to see him at a venue in NH and had an incredible time. Sting was personable, the show was above the norm for (most venues in) NH and the band members, including backup singers, were allowed to showcase their talents. Pleasantly surprised.

Have since heard that he was pissed that he had to 'teach' AS to play some of the tunes...maybe true, maybe not.

aaah maturity is nice, didn't care for this song when younger but like it now, nice and mellow in a manic world

Never realized how great a song this would have been for Tom Petty.  Or a duet between 2 greats!

Loved it when I was 16 still love it now at 45; but then again I've always been mature for my age.... this Album is perfection.

Yes, exactly, as an almost 45 year old I'm going +2 to 8 for mainly the same reason.  LLRP

Never liked these guys - always just 1 notch removed from background music.

Who are "these guys" you're typing about?  This is a solo artist.

Love ten summoner's tale videos... in the studio, how the light changes through the day as they work their way thru the songs.   Really love the footage between songs too.  Loved this album.  Thank You Radioparadise...
Uh, this album and this song, beautiful memories. Time fly so fast...

My young children would moan if this was in the cd player in the car.
They thought the whole thing was so depressing.

I loved playing it for them.

Chapeau!  That's top parenting.

My favourite one... Any other version of this song just falls short.

Eva's is gorgeous. We lost her too soon.
Caught my first fish of the season today. (Released). β€œThe sun in his jealous sky...” πŸ™
Apparently, this is the song Paul McCartney most wishes he had written.

Awesome song. Eva's version is great too.
this is a song that leads to full albums being listened to.  apologies to my english teacher
Is this new here?  Great song.
6 comments only? huh. Think he was touring for this album when I saw him opening for the Grateful Dead or Bowie. Yeah, you read that right. He covered "A Day in the Life". pretty good version.

And yeah, Eva's cover is a beaut.

Clear "10" - hell it was my wedding song! Excellent album overall.
I bought this album back when it came out in 1993. I never get tired of it.
