The rope loops round her feeble feet
Before the dawn
Breaks on her sorry grasp
In a blink and in one motion
Rope constricts
Rips her towards the ocean
She never finds her bearings
Sucking splash into her lungs
Though I cannot see
I can hear her smile as she sings
And though I cannot see
I can hear her smile as she sings
(I was looking for a violin playing smiley BUTT this works too)
Heck...if I were BillG and saw this type of reaction to something, it might spur me towards playing it MORE just to elicit the (what I find) HI-larious reactions from some of you. I say LONG LIVE RP!
If you look carefully at the most ... uh, prolific complainers, it's mostly two IDs. If you look even more closely, it becomes apparent that one is simply a sock puppet of the other.
Alt-J seems to be a very polarizing act here at RP, at least with commenting listeners. HAHAHA to ALL of you that have the (1st world) problem of HAVING to endure through this song.... (I was looking for a violin playing smiley BUTT this works too)

Possibly because music is not seen...it is heard.
Sorry, paradiseregained. I do have a high educational degree in a serious topic, so I think maybe that I could be considered to be sentient. And a human being. I do like Alt-J, and cannot tell you why. It is a gut-level thing, and I sense something worthwhile in their music; I always listen carefully when they are on. Not logical, but then what is logical about taste in art, anyway? Sorry that this all frustrates you. I admit to being frustrated by other artists, like the infuriating Beth Orton, just to name one. But I think that people that like her music are probably as sentient as I am. Whatever.
Think at Bjoerk as she started: she devided the worldcommunity more than any other. At least it's just music, and being offered by RP it's just an offer in it's most democratic behavior: Yes, they can!

Oh and....Alt-J is genius, just saying.

Uh.. this is a listener supported station. If we don't like something, you vote on it and then express your opinion in this forum. Bill gets a sense of if the song should still be played or not..
At least that's the way I thought it worked.. so if I don't like it, I'm gonna say something. Don't read the forum.

oh oh oh ... rubbish-alert! Thome thoughts about that:
„we REALLY REALLY don't care if you don't like something“ —-> Wrong! I care a lot.
„If you don't have something nice to say.....dont say it.“ -—> Is this an opportunist’s opinion? Hey, this is not North Korea!
„Everything Bill and Rebecca play IS good music“ —-> Generalized nonsense. But yes, for me most of the music they play is good.
„we are not the appointed professionals here.“ -—> That’s right, but for what reason do we have to be appointed professionals? To like or dislike a song? Isn’t music 100% subjective?
„Thats what the rating is for.“ -—> Aha, thanks for the guidance. If my understanding of this is correct: only positive comments are allowed by you, the master?
„Oh and....Alt-J is genius, just saying.“ -—> Definately not, and that’s MY opinion.
Oh and....Alt-J is genius, just saying.

Lol! Great minds, my friend.
That's wrong on at least two points.
I will not be surprised when you turn out to be Hoosfoos' sock puppet.

Oh, lord, another self-anointed troll. Do us all a favor, please. Just go away and shit on some other web site. I don't know (and frankly don't care) if you'll feel better, but we will. Thanks and sayonara.

Maybe you should find another station to listen to..

Plying them with what?
woah, this comment opens a huge can of words. .. ugh, pardon, that was actually a typo, honest.
not sure where to start... thinking. hmm.. what do you mean by it? Where does thinking kick in in the art appreciation routine.. is it always necessary to think about a work before I appreciate it? By sentient, do you just mean rational analysis or does it extend to awareness of what I am feeling? Is thinking the progenitor of appreciation or just some parasitic follow-on, like an art curator's bulbous commentary filling out the first 32 pages of an otherwise half-decent art catalog? Isn't most art intuitive? Isn't a person's response to it prior to a rational analysis of it?
with millions of album sales and regular plays on radio, maybe it is your head that is wrong. They are an aquired taste I guess. I do like a band trying to do something diffent though.
Perhaps the sentience problem isn't where you think it is. Though 'perhaps' doesn't really do the thought justice.
(Actually, Hoosfoos didn't write anything, but relied on a simple graphic — perhaps created by someone else — to voice her/his rather inspecific displeasure with this and, presumably, other songs on the playlist.)
Wouldn't it be better for all concerned if you just stopped listening to this station? Sorry, I am not usually this negative, but Jeez Oh Pete, if you don't like this, stop subjecting yourself to it!

On a much more cheerful subject, I am really impressed by these Alt-J fellers.
Yeah, they are getting some major radio exposure now with one of their songs....The one on the radio is not too experimental...
I like them maybe too much
...everybody sing along! .....
