This medicine you want
Medicine you need
Medicine to get you on your feet
I feel weak
Cause every single day
And every single hour too
That medicine it works inside of you
In your head
In your dreams
In your dreams
You worked it so hard
You tried to make it shine
Medicine it keeps you down half mind
In your head
Cause every single day
And every single hour too
That medicine it works inside of you
In your head
In your dreams
In your dreams
Medicine you need
Medicine to get you on your feet
I feel weak
Cause every single day
And every single hour too
That medicine it works inside of you
In your head

Discovered Tindersticks in the early 2000s and promptly searched out all six albums. There are gems on each one.
Meandering and melancholy... Evocative and deep... Makes me want to hear Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds...a good thing...
Knew them only a little bit from my girlfriend at the time and to be honest, I had to get used to the singer's voice and the overall oddity (which isn't particularly a bad thing). But since she loved it so much and when I found out they played in our home town, managed to score some tickets and the concert turned out to be amazing! Excellent group of musicians who really make something special out of their live performance.
The unique "beautiful sadness" of Tindersticks is always amazing.

Sometimes people have happy dreams about a loved one who has died, as if they were alive again, and we ask ourselves, wait a second, I thought you died. This band is like one of those happy dreams, as if a now defunct band (Joy Division, others?) were suddenly alive and making great music again.

Shades of Vini Reilly, again...
What a song-voice!

I adore Tindersticks, but RP should stop broadcasting this one and only song, while there are plenty to transmit.
By the way the last album "No treasure but hope" is a gem.

Sounds like Durutti Column gone commercial.

Live, these guys really know how to... wait for it... ignite the crowd!

What a great observation! Never would have thought of it that way, but I feel exactly the same. For me, it's Morphine (the band, not the opiate) that comes to mind.
If you can find it, there is a band called Red Elephant. A little more range (both in style & not stuck so low on the bass clef), addition of a cello & guitar. They don't show up on YouTube or Pandora, saw a few used copies of a CD on Amazon.

Love Tindersticks but this is not one of my favorite songs.

damn Proc...you're good at catching these....I think I meant to post this on Wilco's "Jesus, etc."
See...the hazards of listening to RP while at work....and then trying to post song comments too....
..for me it is Boz Scaggs Chrislee523 wrote:

That chord progression "Maj, Maj, Min, Maj", while fairly simple, just gives me chicken skin every time....esp. going from BbM (my favorite key) to Cm; that sound just gets me every time. I'm rating a 9 and not looking back! PEACE and LONG LIVE RP!!
I think it's mostly two minor chords - Fm to Cm.

It sounds pretty much like a standard, electronic "bossa nova" beat, which has been on all sorts of drum/rhythm machines for over 30 years. Kershaw may have used a similar beat.
Do I hear Nik Kershaw's 'Human Racing' on that drum track...?

yes nice unassuming sounds, the album art looks like same size paintings by a delicate landscape (skyscape) artist who gazed out a small ceiling portal, capturing cloud banks and an occasional moon
I enjoy this band..quite unique

Wow ... just realized that this is the only Tindersticks song on RP. They are just so much RP. More please.

She walked around in marketplace in Athen, and purchased something.

This beatbox sounds like the Eminent organ of Jean-Michel Jarre's Equinoxe 4, half tempo. And half interesting, too.
The picture of app slideshow is hart to the song #medicin

As a start you could stream this from a small ´gig´ they performed at Paris:

Medicine is song number 3 in their concert.
I saw them a few times and I want to go again....
I just wish that Bill would see this concert and decide to play some more Tindersticks........
Thanks for the Notting-ham mention, Bill - I'd not realised that this bunch were from my neck of the woods, so that's worth a couple of extra points from the Nottingham jury. As the song's a bit on the dull side, though, that still only adds up to 6, but it might grow on me. I'll see if they're doing any gigs locally and try to get along.

While I like this, it sounds identical to King Crimson, "One Time"... actually, enough to bring a copyright infringement.
Nice one. Fred's local boys doing well.
How interesting that you don't like the voice of Thom Yorke, but, why put this message on this Tindersticks thread? They don't compare well.
This band has been brilliant for 2 decades. So glad to hear them here. To me, they way outrank Radiohead. Plus, Stuart Staples' voice is way less annoying than Mr. Yorke's. More please!
Still the best from UK these days....
Saw Tindersticks in concert 3 times now and want to go again....soon please!
Nice!
Interesting and thoroughly satisfying. Am going to dig into this album again.
second! Was more than time...Hope to hear more!
don't dislike this at all.
ps first again. Thanks.
