Hanging off the hinges
Swinging from the rafters
Torches of the lynch mob
Babbling, burning scriptures

Vicious, mindless thinkers
Plenty poison drinkers
Lonely graveyard shifters
Lacking in a lair of snow

In my time of dust
I'll be waiting for the winds to come
And bring forth a brighter day
I'll be waiting for the winds to come
And blow all the darkness away

Angry screamers killers
Sways of soul distillers
Smack some levitators
Patience alligators

Evangelists and salesmen
Ridiculous dictators
Psychics and the background checks

In my time of dust
I'll be waiting for the winds to come
And bring forth a brighter day
I'll be waiting for the winds to come
And blow all the darkness away

In my dream last night
With your hands around my throat
I think you'd hold me when I die
Only 'cause when under oath

There's a target on my chest
Swords and daggers hit the wheel
You know the world has lost interest
When circus freaks is off the pill

In my time of dust
I'll be waiting for the winds to come
And bring forth a brighter day
I'll be waiting for the winds to come
And blow all the darkness away

I find it quaint that there are still sheep out there who think there's a difference between political parties in the US.  Baa baa.

Quaint or "by design" either way the powers that shouldn't be are still in power.

Similar thoughs her.
It has the musical grammar of an Elbow song, but the voice is unmistakable.

I thought it was death...

Hanging off the hinges
Swinging from the rafters
Torches of the lynch mob

Reminds me of the events at Washington earlier this year...
Nice. Voice similar to Gabriel Sullivan.
funny how people hear so many different similarities

my first thought was, isn't one Dave Mathews ENOUGH?

then, it grew on me.

in a good way, not like a fungus
Oh my are we always Prescient RP....

This sounds like a different version than what I'd heard here before...Anyone else?
Peter Gabriel has a lot of disciples from RealWorld Music to those of us that fell in love when he fronted Genesis. But this is more reminiscent of Gabriel in the eighties before he stepped out of Western culture for inspiration.
Special vibes to this one!
Gotta love the drum break and that trumpet...
Sounds to me like the Dream song from Spy Kids.
thought it was Elbow ..
Low-fi snare reminds me of Portishead
 Always think Doves or Elbow

Ehm, what happened to Ed Harcourt's voice? Compare this to "The Beautiful Lie" from 2006...
Channeling Peter Gabriel a bit, not a bad thing. Digging it.{#Yes}

I know what you mean.  I like the driving snare drum, the big chorus, somehow unique but at the same time familiar.  Great tune, thanks RP!!

Bit of a military feel to that snare drum.

And old James Brown

Yes, it was.

Bill, that was never The Decemberists. Not even Novemberists. <Pedantic>
Something about the bass and back beat reminds me of a Neil Finn song

I don't hear PG's ‘Big Time’ in this, but I guess that's not what you meant {#Tongue-out}

This a truly amazing song.  Who is this guy?
I got it as a 7, but I bet it goes up from there on subsequent listens. Really good stuff.

I didn't even really hear the church bell until Fred Riley mentioned it (how did I miss the bell??)

RP is the pasture of heavenly new discoveries...not that they always come easily

The drumbeat is what got my attention the first time I heard this, but it has improved from there for me.
Well realised, well executed.  IMHO.

I like this very much, quirky and spooky. I think I get the inteded mood, but cannot say I understand the meaning of the lyrics. What's this song about?

It was when the song started sounding like it had a calliope that I had to click back into this window to find out what the hell it was. May have to look this dude up!
GREAT GREAT GREAT. Harcourt really coming into his own here. Great lyrics too.

I usually like spooky so this caught my ear straight away. The church (not cow) bell adds a nice gothic touch. 8 from the goosepimpled Nottingham jury.

And I also like the squeaky guitar strings at the beginning - it adds to the tension!

He is singing about The Fall
wow this song reminds me of a JARS OF CLAY song
Very nice!
Reminds me a little of Neil Finn solo stuff
Peter? Is that you? Where are the others: Phil, Steve, Mike, Tony?
Very nice! I like this one! {#Dancingbanana}
Very interesting.

Sounds like a theme from a Clint Eastwood Western

So good, thank you!
Play it again, Bill. Please.
