Its probably now that I need you the most
When I'm one half child and the other a ghost
And one of them wants to pull you close
And the other to let you go
But time is criminal, Love hard-won
And Love defies everyone
Inside my skin a skeleton
Is warming up his act

Well my body's a dog and my friend doesn't bite
Though he looks severe and erudite
At 100 degrees Fahrenheit
He's as cool as an eremite
If one of these is the poison cup
Then my acceptance seems abrupt
But if you're gonna line them up,
I have to knock 'em down

There's nothing so wrong that what's right can't fix
Despite how blood and water mix
When a pony runs out of tricks then
His work has just begun
No law or duty made me fight
Just a lonely impulse of delight
And balancing it brought to mind
All the years to come, the years behind
Will I grow weary of the sun
Remembering what I have done
With Old Mythologies

You gotta choose
You wanted the song to rescue us
Aimee, what did you leave for us
So we could get home

Solomon sang to Sheba's grace
And he kissed her soft and sulken face
If one of has to leave this place
Would the other come along
We've been on the round and round
Shared our kissed by the pound
And chased our shadows on the ground
Spilled our cups in Chinatown
Put up the moon, took down the sun
Played our songs for everyone
Remembering what we have done
With Old Mythologies

You gotta choose
You wanted the song to rescue us
Aimee, what did you leave for us
So we could get home

First for me.  Clever lyrics.
First time I have heard these guys.

Immediately found the disc on *Bay  and ordered.

Not the first time that has happened.
Precariously close to The Boxer

That said pretty cool homage

Thanks - a very fine clip.
clever lyrics and easy on the ears
A 5 only because of the awesome acoustic guitar-work.

Yeah, or an ad for obscenely expensive SUVs.
Still, a really tasty tune.

It's a completely different chord progression and melody from those of "The Boxer", which pretty much negates your "rip-off" allegation.  It is finger-picked in a similar style, which was likely inspired by that song, but people have been picking guitars in that style for hundreds of years.  Are these guys influenced by Simon & Garfunkel: probably - lots of guitar players and singer/songwriters have been.
Anyone else hearing The Wilderness of Manitoba's Chasing Horses in this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChbAMjNwqzA)?

Loving both songs btw!
Nice Yeats reference.  Beautiful,  evocative tune.

Indeed...  this song is soooo delicious...  as tangy as half-sour kosher dill pickles, which are crisp and bright green because of a shorter stay in the brine...  this song is equally good for the senses... hope you be having food and music fun right now, oldsaxon...
This asks of another Amy, so we can get home? I'm reading in Meditation for the Love of It, just beginning Chapter 8. Basically letting the Goddess of thought/concsciousness playful lead on. Freely. If that is of use to anyone.

{#Wave}..... "Outstanding" song
Splendid song.

That sort of finger-picked, arpeggio style of guitar playing existed in folk music for centuries before Simon and Garfunkel, but it wouldn't be all that surprising if these guys were influenced by S&G.  However, the chord progression in this song is completely different than that of "The Boxer", but I guess that doesn't matter to a lot of people here.
Too heavy rotation for this song ... Simon and Garfunkel are earning a lot of money with the copyright !

I must've been nearby, because I'd never heard this before either.  And I'd remember: solid vocals, subdued acoustic guitar and lyrics that may be interesting -- I'm off to check on them now.

It is done!  Welcome!  Hope you are having a marvelous time right now...

this song is excellent...

"Solomon sang Sheba's grace and he kissed her soft and sulking face If one of us has to leave this place, will the other come along?"Song of Solomon —->

3 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.

12 Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.

6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

The lyrics cunningly quote Yeats.

Not really.  I think the same thing when I listen to various Vampire Weekend songs (which sound a lot like Paul Simon stuff from the late 80's into the 90's.

I'm so happy these guys are getting some play.  I've seen them in tiny clubs with less than 20 in the audience.  Love 'em!

Most excellent
Lai lah Lai!!!

Their voices don't have that certain something.  Presence?  They seem bland.  No substance.

This is the kind of song that keeps me glued to RP... great...
The Kings of Garfunkel?
Simon and Convenience?

Like this!!

oh dont b fooled by the si/funk similarity here.  much more like avett bros actually . love "beggar in the morning"......'i'm a monster too...what poisons me poisons you'....then there's "lord i just cant keep from cryin' old bluesy distorted slide and real jack white-ish. really liking these folks!

4 me this is the weakest most uninspired thing they do.just cant figure out why bill chose this one when theres soooo much other cool stuff they do...."deacons son'..'give the devil back his heart'.....

I hear a lot of Simon & Garfunkel in this song.
This is exactly the kind of new and interesting band we need to hear.   Great selection!
Sounds like Simon and Garfunkle's the Boxer to these ears.

Agreed.
"Give the Devil Back His Heart" was one of my favourite tunes this last year. RP needs to get on this.

One listener's elegaic is another's ho-hum. This would be good at bedtime as a lullaby, but at wage-slavery on a Monday morning after the Xmas holiday this listener needs something with a bit more life, not a bottle of Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snoozy Snooze {#Sleep}. So it's away to Joe Bonamassa for some oomph and zip. Back in 5.

A nice follow-up to Bruce Cockburn's "Closer to the Light."  Mellows me right out.  {#Meditate}

What a lovely song! Great writing.
Mmm tasty. One of my favorite new songs on RP in a while:)
Wow...smooth and flowing!
Caught my ear. Win!
Kings of Convenience?
Refreshing.  Nice guitar work, too.
i see nothing necessarily wrong with this.
Dig it. 9
Not fond of this.
