Oh my god we are done
So come take my daughter and come take my son
See we never followed
No we never followed

I've been in through your garden
and I've been to your grave
But Lordy May
When I come to my end some day
Will I find myself sitting at some golden gate
Or will it all just float away
My end some day

I wonder if my heart will be hungry
I wonder when my body does decay
I somehow imagined I'd walk this earth
no forever, forever

And I've been in through your garden
And I've been to your grave
Lordy May
When I come to my dying days
Won't you promise me this
That I go in grace
And I'd be happy to just float away
Some day

''Oh who would think a boy and bear could be well-accepted everywhere?''

There is no Bear species native to Australia.
(Koalas are marsupials.)

& a French maid!
The wavering around the note seems to me at this moment as Aretha Franklin's contribution to musical style considerably removed from hers. On the one hand, I am a bit annoyed at the bending of notes that seems not to be organically part of the performance, but on the other hand, I see where it comes from. Praise be to the insights provided by our friend the cannabis plant.
This song and Italian red wine.

Counting Koalas?    #bandnameideas
Great music by Boy n Bear,. I enjoy the wiki feature and learn a lot about the great music Bill and Rebecca play. I'm often surprised by how old some songs are. Music is truly timeless... Except disco...
Loving the sound of this. Sounds in the same vein as Fleet foxes. Will have to
have a further listen to this band. Thanks RP!
This guy is SO outside what I normally listen to but since the first song, I heard from him, loved each and every song.
All of it damn good stuff.  Just something about the entire package, so perfect

Good to see the boys (and bears) are back after Dave Hosking’s lengthy illness. New album due very soon.
Love this artist. Check out this version, it`s a hundred times better in my opinion:
very fine track
I am listening this track on a naim uniti streamed at 320kbs and the sound quality is superb - this track has a rich live quality to it

Plenty in Sydney - really big hairy ones.

Yeah, it does; and it even has some that whooping/yodeling-type stuff going on like MMJ, Band Of Horses, Fleet Foxes, etc.

I would've said "Alt-J" until I read that...

Just remember, if other people don't go to your funeral you probably shouldn't go to theirs.

Thanks for this one Bill....we love our Boy & Bear down here in the Antipodes
I absolutely love this song!

Do you also watch The Walking Dead?  That might explain it.

Love, love, love The Walking Dead and if a zombie koala bear attacked someone's face I'd probably laugh at that disturbing image too...because I probably need some help.

Ron Sexsmith? I'm sure I saw a video with that dude in, spit roasting some blonde.

One of my favorites from this album
I'm not sure if this song carries some sort of religious message, because that's not my thing. But in terms of musical quality i think it's excellent!

My white shepard's name is Lord, or Lordy.....
The guitar sometimes sounds like Smashing Pumpkin's "We only come out at night".

At least one, and he's in a band with a young man, apparently.
Love everything by this great Australian band!

A hungry bear, no doubt.

Man, I dig this great tune.
It's the manbearpig you really have to be concerned about.

Perhaps...but I think he's far more palatable and less annoying. I actually really like this!

I thought a DINGO ate her baby...

I'll take "singers out of tune" please Alex.
This song triggers my gag reflex. Not sure why. But every time I hear it I can't resist the urge to trash it. It's a "3" and falling fast.

Boy and bear. Sounds kinky.

Very FF-like. I expected it to build up in intensity but it seemed to peter out. Disappointed me a bit. But still pretty good.

Re, FF-like, agreed, with Mumford and Sons-ish vibe, which accounts for the 3 I gave it. It's moody stuff that seems tedious after the first time through.

Boys, either, for that matter?

Nice...and from Sydney? It's about time that city started pulling its weight...

Dire Straits was a British band.

I think Boy and Bear is destined for greatness, perhaps like their down-under Kiwi cousins Crowded House.
awwwwwwww, how cute! :o) love it!

First heard this band on RP; their 2011 album is a beauty!

What beautiful and profound lyrics.  May each of us go in grace.

Very nice.   And from a debut album!!!

Had the volume way up and that drum intro made the table I'm typing on vibrate under my hands - it's good solid old Russian wood too, reclaimed from demolished houses. Impressive fidelity.
Song? Not bad.
Like this. I hear a dash of Bruce Hornsby.

Boy & Bear followed by Dire Straits.  Aussie night?  Just returned from a trip there. Expensive for US travelers, but the wine in Borassa and Hunter Valley...  wow.

Touches of brilliance here, yet the whole somehow not quite the sum of its parts.
Not Fleet Foxes? Not even the vocalist from Fleet Foxes? You have to be kidding me.
'Oh my God, we are done.'  You don't find many songs with an opening line as evocative as that, and singer Dave Hosking carries the mood through the rest of the track brilliantly.  A very accomplished debut album throughout.

This is some good stuff. Never would have guessed they are from Australia.
