that is not my Blood on the bedroom floor
that is not the Glass that I threw before
He gets his power from tide and wave
But grains of sand are my domain
His tempest surged an angry flash
then through my arms formed a sea of glass
Shattering sea
closing my eyes
Shattering sea
closing my eyes
Shattering sea
closing my eyes
every line
every curve
every twist
every turn of every brutal word
every turn, every line
every line, every curve

See on hea.
Nothing offensive about it, except it makes nothing but noise.

RP listeners sure have taken against songs from this CD, which surprises me as although the musically tricksy backgrounds will offend as many as they delight, they're not so offensive, surely? 8 from the intrigued Nottingham jury.

Please shoot me. There is only one other RP son I can think of that reminds me of Mars Attacks - you know when they play that music that makes the Martians' heads explode inside their see through bubble helmets.....aaahhhahahahahaaaaaaa stop stop stop..
This is tedious....
Official anthem of the Bunny Boiler Society!
Sorry, but this irritates me like 40 grit sandpaper. I'll just turn the volume down until it's over and let others enjoy it.
Oh great.... Another crappy tori song
Nails on a chalk board anyone? It would be preferable.
Ouch - that was a tough transition - from Smells Like Teen Spirit to THIS?! I guess the angst is in both....but expressed mighty differently!

Intense, ain't it?
Hearing Tori Amos's voice takes me back to my college days, when the sad and depressing lyrics fit but now they do not! I like the sounds she creartes though.

My God, for the first time on RP I was really very close to rate 1 two songs in a row...
I'm all for artists "spreading their wings" and trying something different
But...........
She lost me on this album.
I'm afraid I insult the rest of the Sucko-Barfo songs by giving this a 1

I fought the pavlovian response to trash all things Tori and to listen...ignoring the lyrics and focusing on the music...I like it.

I really like it. . .
Ear assault.
I clicked stop in my media player.. I wish Bill would trend the number of listeners that drop off after starting certain songs, and use it as a metric.. I heard the "king of pain" melody in there somewhere too.. Also, one of my least favorite police songs..
Yes...Tori is complex in her artistry. I love it.
Love Tori! She can sing the phone book, as far as I'm concerned.
I love Tori, but this is an error in judgment on her part.
Atonal may be cool to a select few who get it —- or, more appropriately, say that they do.
To the rest of us, it's just unlistenable.

Well, she made it her own... I just wish she hadn't decided to shared it with the rest of us...

See? That's called a differing of opinion. It's encouraged here.
You're free to limit yourself as much as you want. You love your short rock pop melodies...enjoy them. Just stop getting mad when I call you an idiot.

That's hilarious. I was a Tori fan at one time, but all I hear from her now are variations on the same theme. It's disappointing as I think she's very talented. Methinks Moak is a little prickly when it comes to Ms. Amos!

Exactly!! When you don't know about anything, or don't want to take the time...completely trashing a song and artist after one listen. Then yeah, no "critics" allowed.

This is brilliant!! I can appreciate it on so many levels, orchestral music is so damn difficult to write much less throwing pop music at it.
...well this is a welcomed change of character...

Night of Hunters marks Tori's 12th studio album, set to release on September 20, 2011(US), and her first with classical music label Deutsche Grammophon. The album kicked off when Deutsche Grammophon approached Tori to write a 21st-century song cycle based on classical themes. She carries on the classical tradition of variations on a theme: taking inspiration from classical forms to create a bold new work while paying tribute to the mastery of the original compositions.
"I decided when Deutsche Grammophon approached me to write a 21st-century song cycle, the hitch was that it would be based on classical themes. I looked at their doctor of musicology and thought This is not a small task. And she said, "I know you've been working on the musical, so you should be able to apply narrative to this project." And I said, "Well, yeah, I think I can do that, but the worrying thing is messing with the masters! That's more disconcerting." So I decided to take it to a place that I understood and a place that has mythology, because good song cycles - there's a level of otherworldliness - that's why it works. To me, if it doesn't have a poetic subtext going on, and the characters don't come in that take us on some kind of spiritual quest, then I don't think it will last for 50 years or 100 years. It has to transcend time in a way - and yet reflect the time you're in."

Gotta go with a 5 on first listen. I don't like it, but I don't dislike it. Guess I cared enough to come over and take a peek. Perhaps it will grow on me. (Like mold?)
Rather harsh.
I like it. . .

If I wanted to hear a weird-ass song with no musical resolution whatsoever, it would be "Greedy Fly" by Bush. Not this.
