She wore out her daddy got the best of me
And there's something about her
That only I can see,
And that's good enough
You're barefoot in the grass, and you're chewin' sugarcane.
You got a little buzz on; you're kissing in the rain.
And if a day like this don't ever come again
That's good enough.
Good enough for me
Good enough for right now, yeah
[Repeat]
God bless this land, God bless this whiskey
I can't trust love
It's far too risky.
If she marries into money
She's still gonna miss me
If you can read it, it's not the original one
And that's good enough
Gonna have to be good enough
Good enough for me
Good enough for right now, yeah
[Repeat]
Namaste Tom.
I sense also some Pink Floyd vibes round here...
yeah, i thought so too. it was nice hearing this after a david gilmour song today.
i like that RP plays tracks like this from Tom Petty and not just the classic radio hits we all have heard a million times.
Miss this
Miss him....... he grew on me late in my life and his.. . Salute..
similar guitar tone / playing!
Well done!!!!
Love Mike Campbell's soulful guitar work on this.
Nice guitar segue from Roy Buchanan
You ground a fine point on that pencil.
Roy Buchanan followed by this somewhat rare gem from the Mr. Petty.
OK. I get it now...
I am in awe of your associative powers.
Very well done.
I have been noncommittal about this track for 10 years but I finally came to the decision that it sucks pretty bad. Good playing can't save a 6-minute noodly dirge. 2
Ten years. That's a long time to be non-committal.
Ouch.
Or the whisky "God bless the whisky"
Now that you mention it, I hear it as well. Great song
You mean "Since I've Been Loving You" and yeah I hear a bit of it in this too.
Ok dude, we understand you
Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches loves this song...

You're comparing this album to Roy Buchanan? Wow. I'm a big fan of both, but this album was a little bit of a let down for me and I don't really see the comparison. Mojo kinda bored me though I don't know why. Roy and Tom (& Co.) are certainly two artists though!
IMHO, one of the very best and vastly underappreciated. He's spent a career punctuating Petty's songs with precision and taste, and now he gets a chance to cut loose on of all things a blues album. I don't get it, but I love it.
I'll second that!
Town Without Petty? Solid 9.
I was thinking the same thing (about the Beatles...I generally can take or leave Petty...though this is good).
Curses to the DJ that keeps me spending money
Well, this is certainly more than good enough! I am looking forward to see this native of FL and his band playing live!
Dang - I think I'm in love. *girlish giggle*
Oh yeah, heard that right away as well.
Old enough to lay down perfection ubiquitously!
Never liked Tom Petty, but with this latest album he is convincing me more and more... Think i'll have to check this album!
old enough to have been around long enough to know how to get it right.
Too bad we won't be hearing on "classic rock" stations. Petty is still rockin'!
Great tune.
Love the B3 !

I am really enjoying TPHB's new direction. A definite must-buy CD.
Still kind of pissed I spent money on Mudcrutch.
Yeah, it's traditional minor-scale blues, like "I Put A Spell On You" and many others. Petty has always worked in the "roots" sound anyhow; no one ever expected him to do experimental stuff. Quite a good tune - great guitar work.
I too hear the "I Put A Spell On You" inference and I agree with your conclusion. Worthy effort. I like it.

Yeah, it's a relatively traditional, minor-key blues number, like "I Put A Spell On You" and many others. Petty has always worked in the "roots" sound anyhow; no one ever expected him to do experimental or cutting edge stuff. Quite a good tune - great guitar work.
Me too! I like what I've heard from this CD.
Me too!! Heard this one will be the best in some time. More Please
Mike Campbell can do no wrong. In 30 years with Petty he has just taken us higher and higher. He's truly a vastly underrated axe man. He and Petty have their MOJO cookin'.
Thanks Heartbreakers, you just sold another copy of your new album (prolly clean the shelves off with this one .)
THANKS !
True, they haven't lost their Mojo!
