The atom will implode
The fragile kingdom fold
The tremor becomes a quake
And there's a body in the lake

And as the two of us rebel
Damn you all to hell
I wonder if that's all there is

Time will help you through
But it doesn't have the time
To give you all the answers to the never-ending why

The sound of silence grows
As the spider'' kiss is laid
The tumor becomes malign
But the kids are doing fine

And as the two of us rebel
And damn you all to hell
I wonder if that's all there is

Time will help you through
But it doesn't have the time
To give you all the answers to the never-ending why

So much hate for Placebo on RP! I like them, tho this isn't their strongest album. I wonder if our European listeners like them more than the US listeners?

I got to see them at the Hard Rock in San Diego, and it was one of my favorite small venue shows.

Placebo is FRIGGIN' HUGE all over Europe. Hardly a strong following here unfortunately.  I love them. Met them after a gig in Charlotte in 2007.  Good lads. Yes their latest lp is not as good as earlier stuff.

yeah, agreed - i hear rush, though, and not in a good way at all.

and that other song that gets way too much play here "beautiful james" makes me a little stabby. i think i've just heard it too much.
Why not?
IDK?
Singer kind of reminds me of Colin Meloy from the Decemberists.  Nice to hear a good song from this century now and again. (Oh, and I am a boomer.)

I kept mis-hearing this as "the never-ending whine" and immediately thought they were singing about one of my teenage kids.
This gets a 2 only because its proximity to Kings of Leon makes it seem less sucky by comparison.{#Crashcomp}
This truly is a horrible song, arrangement, style...and just about everything else you'd dislike in a song!

Maybe someday it'll grow up to be a Rush song.

my thoughts exactly.
Is he singing "The never ending WHINE"?

Red-hot Anna's favorite band

grating
...i thought this song made my life better, but it turns out that causality was entirely in my head - i've continuously pondered the reason for this ever since...
Never ending whine and cheese anyone?
More like the 'never-ending whine'.

Tedious.

Sure sounds like him, but I read the write-up on AMG, and no. Coulda fooled me. Sounds like the Decemberists on massive anti-depressants.

Great song.

Same here on both counts.

That plinky synth thing going on in the background is straight out of some Survivor song...

Sounds a little too cheese for me.
It's ok, but I would be fine with never hearing it again.

Is it just me or does the singer sound like the cat from the Decemberists?

When Bill comes back the new tracks start flowing,Yeh! ......For some reason this reminds me of the new Muse album.

There's is something in the guitar that reminds me of The Resistance album.

Not nearly as annoying to me as other Placebo tracks. Not sure why... perhaps Brian Molko is a little less Geddy Lee sounding in this cut?

Um... but it sure as hell COULD get as annoying if Bill continues to play it every day.

He is actually much more annoying than Geddy Lee!{#Headache}

Wait, someone rated this before it even played.  They gave it a 9.  I wonder whether Bill opened the bidding.
I can't call a 9.  Fold.
