Send me back my home
Couldn't leave without you
When I tried to roam
Put me by the windows
Let me see outside
Look at all the places
Where all my family died
Where all my family died
Where all my family died
Where all my family died
Leave me by the churchyard
Leave me on my own
Some will come and take me
Back to my old home
Put me by the windows
Let me see outside
Look at all the places
Where all my family died
Where all my family died
Where all my family died
Where all my family died
Put me on the train (..ain)
Send me back to my home
Put me on the train (..ain)
Send me back to my home

Fundamentally, I like this song a lot, but the cutting off of the word "train" gets old after a while. Makes my head hurt. Urt.
That would eliminate about 40% of all music ever composed, if not more.
Yup. Both Moby and Air both create a nice relaxed chill mood.
Moby is weak both physically and musically.
that totally disqualifies him!
Put Moby on a rocket - one way ticket!
I am sure plenty of good people have gone down on others and have then gone on to create good music
Leaving aside, for a moment, the abnormal psychology of your post ... "disqualifies him" from what, exactly?
Stingray!
that totally disqualifies him!

That's a tad rude...Now I'm no Bowie or Sting fan...but I wouldn't stoop that low.....I'm guessing you're a Scorpians fan?

Of course all gay men who are in rock really ARE cock suckers...will you contact NASA, or should we?
that totally disqualifies him!

Spooked me out for a minute there.
Perhaps, Bill, you should follow this up with Steve Reich's "Different Trains" that would really spook everybody and stop all the whinging here by really giving them something to whine about (does that make sense?)

Better to be loved or hated - never ignored.
Bill, please come into the light and stop playing this song so much!
Yeah, and put "Wake me up before you go-go" in its place!
As a depressed, morose person I really enjoy this one.

I like it... but I like most of the chilled out Moby stuff.
And for that reason, I like this album.
Patience grasshopper.
â« Not this song agai ... gain â«
Some Moby songs are pretty good. They don't all sound the same to me. He has at least 3 different songs.
Maybe 4.
this
I'll donate with you!
I am so SICK of this song. It's depressing, but I can deal with that, I am just tired of hearing it what seems like daily on RP.
Amen!
soothing, like a long ride in the rain.
Every Moby song sounds the same. Drum machine. tinny recording of someone singing. some keyboards. been there, done that.
You would prefer uplifting, patternless rubbish?
Well said, rubenbeagle! I'm with you.
Moby is right up there among the innovators, and those who take the lead are often criticized along the way.
Seems appropriate to the song.
Oof! Miaouuuuuw!
Seems appropriate to the song.
Why do you keep making repetitive, boring, and predictable comments on this comment board?
Spooked me out for a minute there.
He recorded the vocals through a cheap $70 microphone but then played it back and resampled it through one of those "cans on a string" devices and then had the vocalist tap it out in morse code... so it's INNOVATIVE and GREAT !!
Even better, remove your depressing self from this station!
Hehehe. Yup! Boring Boring Boring...
Dr. House?
Even better, ffs remove your depressing self from this station!
NB. This is just my opinion, having one, even a negative one doesn't equate to 80 days hard labour in the poetry section of my local library :)
Yes, but you have to put it in context of the artist. Moby is not known for his song lyrics, he's known for his atmospheric, melancholy, techno sound and superb sampling. In my opinion this isn't one of his best but it's not as bad as you described it.

Bob Dylan is my favorite musician of all time, so I get the whole "lyrics" thing, but if you're listening to Moby (or most music really) for the lyrics...why not just read poetry? Why bother with the whole music thing? Go read some Whitman if you don't care about the music.

agreed. this is a very good song. a very nice listen.
I usually dislike things that Christgau likes, and vice versa, but I also love Moby's work*. I am so conflicted now. Should I pick this one up, or not?
*except for Hotel, which I thought was lame
Just another result of the Moby music formula.
true
Always count on Moby for a catchy upbeat tune.
Always count on Moby for electronic milktoast.
I heard a quote from Moby where he stated this is music to listen to on a rainy Sunday morning. It would definitely put me back to sleep. Okay, but kind of blah.

Agreed!

Yes - I thought Dido-ish too? But Feist is a closer comparison.
Not saying I don't like Moby... just an observation.
IMHO, that's called an artist's "style"....and as a result, I can almost instantly recognize a Moby song. That can be good or bad, depending on your viewpoint.

Made me look to see what it was.
I like it.
Not hate exactly. I am a Moby fan, but this is just yawn-inducing.
