Well, what do you know. Another Jack Johnson song, another thread of whining.
All you Jack-haters are dangerously close to becoming what you are accusing him for - sounding the same all of the time. Whine, whine, whine.
Me, I like it. It may not be landmark music of any kind, but it is pleasant and melodic, and that is enough for me. Everything does not need to be totally serious all of the time, you know.
I don't think he's the greatest of all time there bud but he does have his own niche sound.
Jack Johnson is the greatest musician of all time. This song is an instant classic that will be studied in music courses for centuries to come.
I just felt that ol' Jack needs some love here. I'm kind of indifferent to his music.
his five minutes of fame were about 5 minutes too long . . . kinder-music, sesame street

I'm a big JJ fan but this song is just ok. Does anyone know how to get a song he did a couple years ago with someone else that was about a sinking ship? I've looked everywhere but can't find it.This ship is going down ... something like that.
...desperately I need a sound.
The song is titled "Let it be Sung"

Agreed. He only has one rythm.
Yeah, but I like the one he has . . .

He's OK, but my 16 year old and all her friends just love him. So he might as well keep pumping them out.
They could be listening to misogynistic gansta rap . . . or Brittany (shudder)

Not being a huge jack johnson fan, i gave this album a 7. His sound does carry over heavily on all of his CD's but there is some variation. I think this album is a lot more mellow and had a little more thought put into the songs than 'in between dreams'
this song seems like JJ's attempt at a single, and its fine. but theres better stuff on the album, in my opinion.
I really like the calligraphy on the cover. The album name is a little too telling.
This guy is waaaaaay past his 15 minutes.
I can't stand this guy. Every single song sounds the same.

man, doesn't this guy ever write music when he's angry/sad/excited/heartbroken/furious etc.? Seems like he's always in the same sort of bubblegum chewing mood...
seems like he's just a - always - relaxed surfer...
...when I need something angry/sad/excited/heartbroken/furious I tend to listen to Meshuggah...those guys never sport bubblegum chewing moods...
but I personally appreciate Mr. Johnson's work A LOT as well...

So plain, calling it "vanilla" would be doing it a favor.

Argggg - I'm typically not a hater, but....
how many CDs is he going to make that are like this?

Hmmm...sounds like all of his others.
So plain, calling it "vanilla" would be doing it a favor.

How can you POSSIBLY have an opinion that fast? The song hasn't been running more than 30 seconds. Include the time to post and I think you heard the guy's name and then posted. Not that I know crap about him...
I actually really liked "Brushfire Fairytales". I've just been really disappointed that every album he has put out every 2 years since then hasn't moved on. Our local radio stations have been playing this track for the last few months so I've become very familiar with it. I normally wouldn't say a single word about a song I don't like but I guess I'm just terribly frustrated because it seems like he is just phoning this stuff in. Of course I expect commercial radio to play this stuff since he is on a major label, but this just seems so lame (in my opinion) to so much else that is on RP.
I should note that the lyrics to this song are actually pretty good - its just the tempo, instrumentation and delivery that ruin it for me (and only because almost all of his songs are done in a similar way).
RP, please be a beacon in the music community and don't play Jack Johnson. God knows that his mediocre, monotonous schlock gets enough attention from mediocre, monotonous radio stations and chain coffee shops.
Other than that, great radio!
JJ is okay. This song is okay. I gave an okay rating. A 6.
I rated it 6 and the average is 6.6.
See a pattern here.
Jack is the devil.
You can listen to his new CD in it's entirety HERE

I just dont' get it. Every one of his songs sounds the same, seemingly having been written in 20 minutes each and he's always at the top of the charts. The mind boggles.
You are right. This one is only slightly different in that it is catchier and he is using an electric guitar.
