It's happy hour again
I think I might be happy if I wasn't out with them
And they're happy, it's a lovely place to be
Happy that the fire is real, the barman is a she
Where the haircuts smile
And the meaning of style
Is a night out with the boss
Where you win or you lose
And it's them who choose
And if you don't win then you've lost
What a good place to be
Don't believe it
'Cause they speak a different language
And it's never really happened to me (it's happy hour again)
Don't believe it, oh no
'Cause it's never really happened to me (it's happy hour again)
It's another night out with the boss
Following in footsteps overgrown with moss
And he tells me that women grow on trees
And if you catch them right they will land upon their knees
Where they open all their wallets
And they close all their minds
And they love to buy you all a drink
And as we ask all the questions
And you take all your clothes off
And back to the kitchen sink
What a good place to be
Don't believe it
'Cause they speak a different language
And it's never really happened to me (it's happy hour again)
Don't believe it, oh no
'Cause it's never really happened to me (it's happy hour again)
What a good place to be
Don't believe it
'Cause they speak a different language
And it's never really happened to me
Don't believe it, oh no
'Cause it's never really happened to me (it's happy hour again)
Don't believe it, don't believe it (it's happy hour again)
Don't believe it
It's happy hour again, and again, and again
It's happy hour again, and again, and again
It's happy hour again, and again, and again

The Irish thing must have made Bill think "Drinking Songs". Like it =.7
As a Londoner with my roots in Hull - I love this song
Yay, Housemartins are the best!
Thank You RP !
Forgot all about these guys.
All smiles now!

Now Playing:
The Housemartins - Happy Hour
The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
The Pogues - I'm a Man You Don't Meet Every Day
Elton John - Where To Now St. Peter
Well at least it takes a good nine months to come around again?

Excuse me while I go do a happy dance...

Cool. A BNL tribute band.
(I mean, this is so close to "Hello City", that I have trouble believing it's a co-incidence.)

Man, I love this album!
Gotta say, 'Happy Hour' seemed a little fast, though ...
It'd be hard for a song to follow The Proclaimer's 500 miles... but this one is a good choice!
"Where to Now St. Peter."
The Pogues.
The Proclaimers.
Now, the Housemartins' "Happy Hour".
Too ... many ... groovy ... tunes. Can't ... get ... work ... done ...

Ok is this a Barenaked Ladies cover? Or did the Barenaked Ladies cover the Housemartins?
Still a great song.
Ya so I guess I should have taken the time to read the everyone elses posts...

SAD. Learn your music people! BNL would be the HOUSEMARTIN tribute band! Housemartins predate BNL and come from another continent.

The latter.
And, yes it is.
Yay! The Housemartins!
Note to self: upload "Reverend's revenge" from this album, one of my favourite short/simple/smiling instrumentals.

Still a great song.

I'm a big BNL fan, so this song always throws me off at first until I realize what's up. ;)
Good stuff though, fun and bouncy!

It's funny that some of the people on the board thought it was a BNL song.
All the BNL-haters who think they're little more than a novelty band would gain something by listening to The Housemartins whose often-humorous pop songs were obviously an inspiration them.
This is just a wonderful and jaunty li'l gem.
if I had a million dollars.....
Heard this for the first time on RP, and now it's heavily featured in my personal rotation. Love it.
Great song from a great album. Always reminds me of the lovely Colleen.....
TTTU! I love this song and was hoping someone would upload it :)
This was sampled by BNL for Hello City. Fun song.
The Housemartins! I remember this song well, gleefully happy with a funny video. And then you listen to the lyrics.
Fun fact: Paul Heaton went on and formed the Beautiful South, Norman Cook became a DJ/producer under a plethora of names, of which Fatboy Slim might be the most well known... and Hugh Whitaker tried to murder his business partner with an axe.
Bare Naked Ladies if I'm not mistaken. This predates the BNL's by quite a few years. One of the original members was Paul Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.
The Housemartins were around long before Barenaked Ladies.

Ah, thank you for playing this.

Woo-hoo! An 'Ull presence on RP - that's got to be a first. This lot are one of the two things that people know about 'Ull, the other being the bridge (which San Francisco built a pale imitation of ;-) ). You can always tell an 'Ull person - just ask them to order you a white wine and soda (in 'Ullspeak: "whaht whahn 'n serder").
Paul Heaton when he had some credability before Beautiful South
Ask & ye shall receive...
Hmm, sounds happy...
And their band name really should have an additional "i" towards the end.
I can not believe this has not been played before...
