From the depths I called you, Ma
For your breath and breast so warm and fabled
Your hands reached inside
Grabbed my heart, enlarged, disabled
Hailed for your mercy
An ear that cares
How the blues sound from up there?
With my wet hair, I wipe the blood off of your feet
Carry me through these shark infested waters
Well, you spared me from slaughter for sure
But these sharks are equally in need of a martyr
Oh, kindness shared
Undeserved purest gift, this life you've spared
How the blues sound from up there?
Teeth gnashing, masticating this dumb tongue
Quiet now, quiet now, hear that supplication
Echo into the void
Been received by no one
Oh, my sweet dear
Cold alone poisoning ourselves
Engulfed in our own tears
Signed, blues from down here.
Pull the pin, drop it in, let it wash away your
Time for your favorite story
Of how to achieve golden glory
Wash yourself all squeaky clean
All in white on Hallow's eve
Lessen your desire
Hold your breath so patiently
Never inquire how to be free
Just stay on your knees
You might doubt it
Think there's nothing left for me
To do but stomp my feet
And shout about it
From the depths I called you
Now I'm waiting for an answer patiently
Stuck here in the bottom of this well
It's not the last you've heard from me
Eyes wide mine, suddenly everything
Flies by fine, mind goes on holiday
In its stead, clicking along the curb
Clucking tongues, how could they have the nerve?
There is hardly a method you know
There is hardly a method you know
It's a broken poem, started up yesterday
And it came true now, mind was on holiday
It's an open road will we soon see the end
It's an open book, a story to tell the band
There is hardly a method you know
There is hardly a method you know
There is hardly a method you know
There is hardly a method you know
I'm a storm faced cloud, hanging in dystrophy
I'm a cold, base clown laughing at enemies
It's a rough wild world, could you please chaperone?
It's a mind field trip, oh leave it the fuck alone
This is hardly the method you know
This is hardly the method you know
There's a purple pain strangling yesterday
There's a purple stain spattered on interstates
It's an awkward stage grasping at anything
'Cause it's lost the page, can't find a word to say
But they want you to
Oh, they want you to
Yes, they want you, too
Oh, they want you, too
Broken plates on dirty highways
Pave the way for alien grace
There is hardly a method you know
Broken plates on dirty highways
Pave the way for alien grace
There is hardly a method you know

Hey ScottFromWyoming, it was 1976 and a blizzard was blowing in from the west. Two highway patrolmen were closing the gates on I25 as I was heading south to Denver from my last stop in Cheyenne. I could barely see out the front window as I crept along south but I knew I could outrun the worst of the storm, just as long as I didn't panic. I made it back to the factory in Denver about 2 and 1/2 hours later just in time to drive home from work in that same storm. I settled in, cracked open a beer and took my Martin D-35, with the nice 3 piece back, out of it's case. Dropped the low E string to D and did some aimless finger picking for about 45 minutes and as I was starting to get warmed up, there was a knock at my front door. I opened it up and there stood Gina. She wanted to spend the storm with someone. I got her a beer from the fridge and put the guitar away. That was one song that never got finished..
That's beautiful man... I'm going to copy that to a .txt file and drop it into a thread next time I want to annoy a bunch of people I don't know.

Could it be the nonstop monotone repetitive nonsense? Lord make it stop!!!

I agree they're totally taking their cue from Messers Partridge 'n' Moulding. Not a bad thing...but tough to compete with the originals, imo. 6 for now

Every song from these guys played on RP so far has sucked. In the worst way. This is one of the few songs where I deeply wish there was a rating less than one. In fact, if I had only one 1 rating for the entire library, this song would get the badge of honor. Please, stop this brutal assualt on my ears!

Bill, thank you for continuing to play this song and others off of the Cookie Mountain album, despite the aggregate low rating that my fellow RP listeners have assigned to this masterpiece. I don't know whether it's ignorance or choice close-mindedness, but RP listeners do not seem to be responding well (at least those people voting) to TVoTR. I hope that you continue to play more songs from the best album of 2006. And I also sincerly hope that RP listeners give this band a chance. They are original and authentic innovators. Yes, It "sounds different", everyone can hear that... yes, it's challenging sometimes, but it's also beautiful and deserves to be played at least 5 times a day. Eclectic radio at its best. There is always clear channel for the rest of you guys who want to spoil the fun for everyone else. Play on, Bill. and thanks again.
Amen.. This is a great album.
i like it, it sounds pretty cool to me...

Funny: I can see that. I probably would too, if I had the CD. However as a part of the aural mosaic which is my listening experience during my office hours, namely Radio Paradiso, it's *great*.

Agreed! I bought this album on the strentgh of the reviews, and it is a fascinating cd, with each song sounding very different. It's the kind you have to listen to over and over to get it.
please end.... so repetitive
So different from Province. So different from Wolf Like Me. The more I hear this album, the more I really appreciate it.
I like TV on the Radio, but I don't like this song.
this is the worst yet, they should add a -1 rating for this pos
Doesn't tickle my ears, but I appreciate the unusual and interesting quality of it. Would be curious to hear other songs from this band (but not curious enough yet to buy the CD).

How fortunate that it can be purchased using the link above so people can do just that without involving the rest of us!
Yep, I quite liked that tune. Let's hear more please!

at the risk of sounding ambiguous... ...interesting?
oh yeah baby, I like it weird.
sounds like an advertisement with the product placement surgically removed
What an annoying song!
mixed emotions... I LOVE these guys, but this is the track I always fast forward. I'm bummed that this is going to be most of the RP listeners' first exposure. Don't let it ruin your opinion!
Well, for whatever reason this album made NPR's top ten list for 2006. And David Bowie appears on it.
...curious - i like that it's challenging...
I listen to a lot of electronic music, and even I think it's repetitive, not in a good way.
"What IS this?" My wife asked me when first it came on. "I dunno," I replied. Still don't.
I like the guys voice, but I can't do that whole atonal-two-songs-at-once thing goin on.
