We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

🤣😂🤣
There are not many posr-rock songs (with English vocals) that evoke nostalgic, emotional thoughts about someone special. And yet, I always find myself singing along by halfway through, right back in the present moment, enjoying the song in both moments at once.

You are being too generous to media critics. I wouldn't exclude them - they don't know my mind any better than other assholes do.

I remember Snow Patrol when I went to a concert of U2 back in 2009 at Zagreb and Snow Patrol were there as pre-show. I remember giant stage of U2, light warm breeze when I entered the stadium and Snow Patrol just playing this song. What a feeling it was. A great memory of a great day.
Begins like one of my favorites by The Ocean Blue, which is awesome on a bright Christmas morning, and hey, I love this song a lot, too!

Great track but I've had trouble enjoying it as a complete song since the first time I heard the Every Car You Chase / Police mashup. Just brilliant.

An itemized response:

1. This is the same website that will form a pitchfork-and-torches mob for anyone who rates a Beatles song anything less than an 8 or expresses a sentiment other than nominating John Lennon for sainthood.

2. There is a lot more to get upset about than Snow Patrol. And Snow Patrol is indeed "fine." I see nothing incorrect about the statement.

3. Music taste is subjective, but there's way worse offenders in music than Snow Patrol. Snow Patrol is not the death of music (I'd argue that it's Pitbull, but that's another discussion). If it was, we wouldn't have survived The Monkees, Extreme, John Mayer, or Nickelback.

Something is wrong. RP usually does not saturate its mix with as much  FM pablum. That is, as of a year or several months ago.

Does anyone else like the irony in spelling 'sofistication' wrong? Also, the whole theory isn't as complicated as you think. It goes like this: If you like a song, then it works - for you. If I fucking hate a song (like oh, I don't know, Chasing Cars) then the song didn't work - for me. See? It's not that hard. There's more than one way to look at it. Plus, that's the only logical explanation for Hole having fans. ------------------ IHateBono.com (click here)

Before it's even had a chance to breathe and develop." That said, Snow job Patrol offered little to begin with...
Agreed in part my friend, but as a band they have actually worked very hard for well over 10 years. The advent of their 'big break', while shunting them down the route of 'over exposed commercials' and American TV shows, does make it difficult sometimes to stand back and remain impartial to all the 'hype'. They work hard and are very serious about the music they create. I actually listened to this album for the first time EVER last weekend and was very surprised at how good an album it is.......you have to hand it to a band (ok, ok their label and management) when the first 6 tracks have all hit the top 10 in the charts (UK & Ireland anyway). That doesn't happen to too many artists........
Interminable.
I think Matt Johnson of The The best explained why popular music sucks: "You just discover something that's close to your heart and which resonates with your own private experiences and then before you know it, it's completely over exposed and everybody's discovered it, devoured it and then discarded it. Before it's even had a chance to breathe and develop." Not that Snow job Patrol offered much to begin with...

I've said it before and I'll say it again - there is no such thing as over-played. You are in control of your own exposure to media. Even more so in the days of digital music. Just remember, there is no spoon . . . Oh, and as for this song, definitely sounds like a high school anthem, like the other songs I've heard from this band. None of them do much for me at first, but they tend to grow on me.

Also significantly overplayed up here in the Seattle area. But I like more and more every time I hear it. Has a certain emotion to it. Matt

Let me just sharpen up my razor blade.... ah, yes, that will do nicely. Roll your sleeves up like so. And always clean your wrists first. Very important. This is a great, and in some cities, overplayed song. I have heard in on a tv show and it was the perfect compliment to the emotional moment. You're probably ready for another great song from the cd, so listen to "It's Beginning To Get To Me." Try it, you'll like it! --Greg
