Well, they raised that horse to be a jumper
He was owned by a mid-west bible thumper
His preacher was a Louisiana drummer
Took all winter to get through the summer
The fieldhand hit the switch and stumbled
Outside the big engine roared and rumbled
The stolen horse spooked and tumbled
She didn't speak for a week
Just kinda mumbled
ankle deep in love (x4)
He was caught up in a lie he half believed
Found her hiding high in the family tree
Washed his hands and put her cross his knee
She said daddy "you been a mother to me"
ankle deep in love (x4)

The Russians once sent a monkey to space.
It's time we did!

By the by, does anyone think it's weird that he's touring with The God Damned Strokes?
This morning on the radio I thought I heard them say that Bob Dylan is touring with the Raconteurs. I guess it's not like Jessica Simpson touring with Nirvana, but still. Seems odd. Maybe I just heard it wrong.
In the first few bars, I thought this was Dylan.

Hmm, the CD has been out for a day and there are 6 tracks in the RP library? I'd be hard pressed to name many albums that should have 6 tracks in the RP library. Seems like we could be a little more selective....
I have yet to hear something from Tom Petty that I don't like.

Doesn't Curious George go to the moon in one of his books?
Sort of an awkward metaphor, isn't it? Ankle deep? Or does he intend to compare Love to Crap? Not a bad tune, even though I thought it was Bob to start with. I wonder if this song is about the same girl "who's a good girl, loves her mama, loves Jesus, and America too ...she's a good girl, s'crazy 'bout Elvis, loves horses, and her boyfriend too..." Seems to be about a horse and a girl... and a spanking.
Cover looks like a Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine from the early 1960's.

Tom Petty = Most consistent pop songsmith of all time?
Seriously, I often have a hard time distinguishing between his new stuff and his old stuff. And that's a good thing.
I cannot WAIT to buy this record! I love everything I've heard off of it. I think I'll buy it tonight.

Yup. Another Tom Petty song from this album. Great. I'm tired of it already.
This album is getting too much airplay here...
I could see popping this one in the player while driving.
How else will Bill know what we all like if he does not offer up a bit of a selection at first?

Like going to the beach and getting in ankle deep. Don't quite know if I like it or not. A 5.
I'm starting to like some of this album, it's growing on me.

Are we sure this isn't old Bob?
I like the cover art....
