Don't worry Fred, this isn't even close to C&W, so your ignorance remains intact. fredriley wrote:
Nay! Nay! And would that I were ignorant of C&W, but the damn stuff gets played incessantly over here in pubs and clubs and on the radio :(

'bout time this got a positive comment again. It's very nice 'n extremely listenable. Never mind the ignorant naysayers.

I think you forgot a couple of clichés in there, Bubba.
Shure thang. Vietnam vets deserted by their wives, poker players down on their luck, truckers cryin' into their beer, jailbirds pinin' for the open road, cheatin' wimmin with peroxide hair and high-heeled leather boots (continues for 94 pages).

C&W - ugh! Just the sound of that horizontal guitar makes me think of songs about dead dogs, cheatin' wives, truckers, run-down bars, trailer-bound rednecks, and saccharine melodrama. As C&W goes this is just about listenable, but only just, though I dare say C&W fans think it's the bee's knees. 2 from the Nottingham jury.
I think you forgot a couple of clichés in there, Bubba. Anyway, I wouldn't consider this country just because they used a pedal steel guitar, any more than the presence of a saxophone makes a song jazz or cellos make it classical music.

Ditto and ditto.

Waltzes make me think about Julia Delpy singing her waltz for Ethan Hawke in "Before Sunrise". Great flick. Not exactly an "on topic" point, I know, but under Parliamentary Procedure a Julia Delpy memory is always in order. JCEntMan wrote:

One Two Three... One Two Three... One Two Three... Makes me feel like waltzing right out of my chair. Too bad I don't know how to waltz.
The melody is very similar to Kate Rusby - Botany Bay or at least the version I am familiar with. I still like it though.
I have been a Calexico fan since Rp introduced me to their sound - this is a slightly different direction but fantastic music. Keep it up Bill!
