Sitting here in limbo, but I know it won't be long
Sitting here in limbo, like a bird without a song
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
Sitting here in limbo, waiting for the dice to roll
Sitting here in limbo, got some time to search my soul
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
I don't know where life will lead me
But I know where I've been
I can't say what life will show me
But I know what I've seen
Tried my hand at love and friendship
But all that is passed and gone
This little boy is moving on
Sitting here in limbo waiting for the tide to flow
Sitting here in limbo knowing that I have to go
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
I don't know where life will lead me
But I know where I've been
I can't say what life will show me
But I know what I've seen
Tried my hand at love and friendship
But all that is passed and gone
This little boy is moving on
Sitting here in limbo waiting for the tide to flow
Sitting here in limbo knowing that I have to go
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on
Sitting in limbo, sitting in limbo
Sitting in limbo, sitting in limbo
Sitting in limbo, sitting in limbo
Sitting in limbo limbo limbo...
Sitting here in limbo, like a bird without a song
Well, they're putting up resistance
But I know that my faith will lead me on

Must be why the lyrics are all messed up hahahah

Maybe it's because I've been on a Community binge, but I swear "Gettin' Rid of Britta" is derivative of this.

I can think of several reasons why I should dislike this. Can't quite bring myself to do it.

You've got me thinking, Mr. King: if Willie Nelson had smoked more weed, maybe his career would have been in Reggae....

Willie... singing reggae? No, please, just don't. Stop it!
Not that I don't love Willie because I do, but singing reggae? Ain't nobody got time for that!

This song is a travesty! It's so bad, and I love the original so much, I just have to smile.

Considering he probably smoked more pot in his life than Bob Marley, it seems appropriate to have Willie singing reggae.

This, right after Bob Marley. Of course.
Kind of weird hearing Willie sing this, but hey. A commenter called it 'front porch music', which is apt.

Perfect for these days and times
Very Punny! I'm siting here in Limbo. If I go outside I might die of a global pandemic
corny wobbly synth?
I don't feel like this is reggae. I feel its more like porch music. Mellow, nice, nothing you have to think too hard about.
I'll never smoke weed with Willie again

I kind of like it.
Willie can remember when a dime bag cost a dime...

creamed corn and chocolate fudge.... mmmmmmmm...
I get a kick out of this. People take things waaaay to seriously around here.
It's not that bad - at least it's not Dancehall, or *shudder* "Lover's Rock"...
The cover (artwork) appeals to herbalists everywhere. The song? Puhleeze.

I love reggae as well, but I must say that the album has grown on me. The groove is reggae, but the "texture" (steel and slide guitars, harmonica) is definitely country. I really like this blend and I find myself whistling, humming and singing along to most of the songs. Certainly not a classic album (a 6 at best), but pleasant enough nonetheless.
Actually, the original by Jimmy Cliff isn't reggae either.
Willie Nelson is a great artist, and this song... does NOT prove it. Anybody trying to get a record contract with this as demo would be laughed out of the building. Is there a reason why you don't play the real version of this song (which is great)? Is there a reason why you don't play any of willie's *good* sonds?

I love RP. I know the definition of Eclectic. But this song...it's just wrong... well at least it's not Harder They Come.
Whoops, Bill has the message..he just stepped on the ending..lopped off the last few agonizing seconds.
I love the album cover
I'd much much much rather hear Jerry Garcia and David Grisman's version of this song, or even Jimmy Cliff....but Willie Nelson...yuck
What's this? Is he singing about the current state of his career?
Oh man, this thing is in heavier rotation than Britney Spears on HOTT QNX FM, YOUR STATION WITH THE GREATEST HITS.
I really want to like this but I just can't. There are much better tracks on the album. "Darkness on the face of the earth" is one. This one just doesn't cut it for me.

I believe that most of these comments are coming from people who love reggae.
This stinks! Willie, it's okay to smoke it, but this album is taking it a bit far,ya know mon?
rolf wrote:

Well, you got your GOOD reggae and your BAD reggae...this would be an example of your BAD reggae.
The only thing saving this from rating a 1 is the greatness of the original song.
willie, i love ya and all. but stick to the country man.
I really don't understand that so many people dislike reggae.
The only thing preventing me from giving this a "1" is my refusal on general principle to call anything "sucko-barfo".
Just to quantify my dislike of this track, I'd rather listen to cuts from Pat Boone's "In a Metal Mood" album. :-&
shayde wrote:

Judging from many of the comments here as well as the song rating, "everyone" isn't. ;)
It doesn't seem so bad to me.
This song gets more awful upon each listen. Ugh.
If there's anything that will make me turn off RP faster than reggae, it's Willie Nelson trying to sing reggae.

precisely. Could we hear the original?
umm
yeah
I dont know
umm
ok
I am almost without words here, well at least none that can describe that. I will have to reserve a rating judgement until I hear it again. Caught me completely off guard. I love that song, especially the Garcia/Grisman versions that just drip with emotion and an almost bittersweet melacholy.
I guess it falls in line with other recent "late-in-carreer" genre-jumping musicians.
Neil Diamond doing modern rock (His take on the Portishead song is actually really cool).
Johnny Cash doing Soundgarden and NIN (We all know how those became "His" songs and ooze with pasion and emotion)
John Denver doing a metal album. (Correction: It's Pat Boone - In A Metal Mood. Hope this didnt put all you John Denver fans on the lookout for the lost "Metal" album. I suppose I should check my facts before posting them. Sorry for the confusion and hysteria this may have caused.)
But, Willie + Reggae? I'm just not feeling the vibe, mon.
Yeah
I'll have to get back to you on this one.
I do not smoke marijuana, but I do enjoy both reggae and Willie as well (he sings so much more than country; always has!). Where were all the complainers years ago when Willie did Stardust, his album of classic pop standards? He doesn't have to perform country, only, forever and ever amen. Why can't he do reggae just as well? Why can't he do whatever the hell he wants to do? As long as the results justify the means--and I think that they do in this case, marginally--then why the hell not? Not groundbreaking by any means, but certainly pleasant. His voice sits nicely atop those deep, deep grooves.
Now, if only Jimmy Cliff would return the favor and cover "Whiskey River"....

I actually like a lot of Willie's stuff because I like it, not "because I'm supposed to"......besides, who says any HAS to like anything? I'm a deadhead from way back, yet I can't stand Bob Dylan! Willie's "Teatro" is a very fine work indeed, but this new um...."reggae" is just a reason for that old coot to put a big reefer leaf on his album cover! Peace thru hemp! Hemp for life!

Willie has taken a lot of shit just for being who he is in this world. For that, and many other reasons, he's closer to being a true brother of Jimmy's than anyone listening to RP. Willie is an authentic dissident and a damn good singer/songwriter. Don't cut him slack because he is in his seventies - he doesn't need it. He stands on his own against posers of any age. See ya - I'm off to buy the CD.
very well said.
Does this CD have the Toots song w/ Willie on it? Was it done at the same time?
Liking it.

Actually, I am one of those "old folks" but I have taste. Like Shayde said "he is a mediocre singer" leave Willie to those country stations please.
I am giving this a 2 because its Willie and its reggae. Need I say more? This is not even remotely entertaining or pleasant EDIT: Had to send this song up in smoke to the land of 1
rock on willie, rock on
This is very unsafe...
Too much pot, Willie!!! For obvious reasons, you are welcome to LIKE dub and reggae, but please refrain from playing it...
Take it from me, I like all four kinds... Dub, Reggae, Country and Western.
Frankly, I like this!
willie nelson doing his best impersonation of jimmy buffet? 0-fer-2, folks.

Jimmy Cliff should come to America and kick this guy's ass for wrecking his song like this!!
:fight.gif:
Saw Trey Anastasio & The 70 Volt Parade do a great version of this song @ the Hammerstien Ball Room in NYC. Been tyring to figure out who originally did the song since then! I now know that it was Jimmy Cliff Thanks to BILL! Treys version was much better!
good on ya, Willie - 70 years old and still trying new musical styles...love the reggae!
Coulda bin the Willie Nelson...coulda bin the wine.... but I'm diggin this.
