How'd ya like to be the London bobby who had to make them
pull the plug?
That infamous bobby has been interviewed a number of times over the decades. He always sounds rather sheepish. "Just doing my job" but you can still sense his discomfort about the rock/hard place situation. To be fair, he and his boss did not pull the plug right away and gave the Fabs about 20 minutes or so for an orderly wrap up.
Lol!
Roof top Abbey Road studio live performance....one of the best music videos ever...you can see the early enthusiasm that they once had for playing live shine in their expressions...John vocals are sublime
It wasn't Abbey Road roof top - it was on the roof of the Apple offices in Savile Row - watch the end of film 3 of Get Back - worth it just for the reaction of passers-by in the street below
Proof positive that aliens from other planets are secretly living amongst us.
Perfect!

god the Beatles are awful! Yelling and screaming, call this music? Sucko barfo.
Surprising your mother let's you listen to Radio Paradise...
yes, in Get Back, when he arrives on the scene, he brings the 'thing' they were missing during those sessions. mind blowing, all the great songs they wrote in less than a month.
Also have to wonder if he induced better behavior amongst themselves. From what I've read, the presence of an outside musician sometimes kept them from bickering. Harrison partly brought in Clapton (on "While my guitar...") knowing this. Billy was clearly an old well liked friend from Hamburg.

and then maybe a month later they started on the sessions of Abbey Road. what a creative force they were.
What, are you like 16?
So who do you like/prefer?
bumped to a 9 on the strength of John's vocals
I"ll second that. Done.
Billy Preston really steals the show on this song. If they had ever toured again I hope he would have been included.

And are tone deaf.

Thanks to the aliens for helping us avoiding the "there is no alternative" thought.

Maybe the aliens know things you don't know, did you think about this?
I think you should watch the movie Yesterday.
Hollywood and others have done very well with music in movies but I don't need to watch a movie to appreciate the music.
Somewhat surprisingly, still available on YouTube.
Billy Preston appears on camera at 1:02 for a whopping 3 seconds; blink and you'll miss him:

Billy Preston's solo on this tune really makes it shine for me.
You're joking, right? Kinda difficult when all 250 songs are classic and all are well known.

Not Abbey Road..but the roof of the Apple office in Saville Row.
Great song by the boys.
Wrong song.

Thanks for that link. Obviously a cold day in London. Can't see definitively who the piano player is in this film, but I'm guessing Billy Preston.
From the official notes on YouTube:
"By the time that fateful Thursday came around, [the day this was recorded] the penultimate day of January would be the last time The Beatles ever played together in front of any kind of audience."
If I had a nickel for every time I've had that thought about a woman ....

Well i guess thats the dilemma with real classics - they are well known but always worth a listen :-)
Enjoy the keys of great billy preston
Said no one of any import.
Good way of putting it

"One of my rare 10s" LOL.
Check romeo's song ratings, his tongue is firmly in cheek.
My tongue is in both cheeks around my teeth! Hope you are having a marvelous time these days...
love this song... love this album...
Got to admit that this why I like this tune, but it certainly feels like Beatle - filler too.
How was it living under that rock for the past 40 years?
Must agree with you there.. romeo..did you give it a ten ? I did !
Yes, I gave it one of my rare 10's... this song is perfect...

There are plenty of modern musicians who can "play in almost any style"; they're just harder to find and perhaps discouraged from "not being consistent". I imagine that the industry could be a culprit.
The audiences are as much to blame as the industry. If the consumers were not content to hear mass-produced pablum on repeat on a corporate radio format - if we'd support local and/or independent radio - if we'd support local artists - well, you know I'm preaching to the choir typing this here, but RP listeners really aren't indicative of your average music consumer, and if you doubt that, click here.
Or do we blame the lack of variety on a recording industry that prefers generating new versions of the same tripe because that's what sells records?
I blame the recording industry, for sure. It's about sales and money for them, and not about creative expression. Same with the film and TV industries (I can't believe there's a remake of "La Femme Nikita," which was a series based on the original Luc Besson movie "Nikita." Shows how little imagination the "industries' have.)
There are precious few groups/individuals who can show versatility. I don't even look for it anymore - if a song moves me, I'm happy. If I can sing alternate lyrics to the same tune, or if I can hum an already-recorded song to the lyrics, I yawn and switch to Neopets or my ever-difficult spreadsheets.
Geez, I think I just depressed myself.
Man, you got that right!
second best beatle song after golden slumbers medley.............
good choice bill!

"Don't Let Me Down" (1969):

* "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by EMI Music. "
Just like a "cancer", against music, against artists, against music lovers, with exercise of rights or not, these bad attitudes, to prevent the viewing of short excerpts of historical documents, are against an entire musical community, and people will have this in mind when they see the seal these labels on the products they promote.
...invited by George to try to keep the infighting at bay.
Their new studio, designed by wiz-kid (not!) Magic Alex, was a fiasco. John's attention was fully on Yoko, who proved to be intrusive in the lives of the rest of the group. There were also legal battles going on; Paul wanting the Eastmans to come in, the other three wanting to cast their lot with "disaster-in-the making" Allen Klein.
Yes, and in honor of the rooftop concert, I'd say they passed the audition!
Don't you know it's gonna last
It's a love that lasts forever
It's a love that has no past"
Devastating irony in a pop quatrain.

Davidbarth was a plant. They made that stupid remark just to get all of our goats. I still consider The Beatles the G.O.A.T.'s, so that backfired.
