Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused
For being strange
Our love is no other
Than me alone
For me all day
Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused
All over you, all over me
The sun, the fields, the sky
I've often tried to hold the sea
The sun, the fields, the tide
Pay me now, lay me down
Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused
For being strange
Our love is no other
Than me alone
For me all day
Our love is like angels
Pinned down and abused
All over you, all over me
The sun, the fields, the sky
I've often tried to hold the sea
The sun, the fields, the tide
Pay me now, lay me down

Yeah, that's why I downloaded Radio Paradise.
Could you email a copy of the radio paradise you downloaded? It sounds interesting.

I thought i was the only one who hated these guys when the becme full of bombast following thier first album, I couldn't even stand having their first cd in my collection anymore so it has been removed to the "what was I thinking when I bought this crap" pile
pretty kick butt song for a monday..
i thinks mental jewelry had a raw feeling to it that none of their other stuff has touched. this album, though, was incredible in it's own way. haven't had any desire to buy anything of theirs after this one.

Exactly. Some songs just need to be retired from the radio, forever. I don't want to heat this any more, uh huh.
My thoughts exactly. I've tried to enjoy Live and their music, but this song annoys me....aquadonia wrote: This song has always rubbed me the wrong way. I've tried to like it, but I just can't.

You downloaded the whole thing? Does Bill know about this? I would imagine he'd prefer streaming to one big download...
Yo, buddy, this channel's all about what's best, not what's been driven into your skull by mainstream radio. That's your baggage. Don't take it out on us (or Bill).
Still quite likeable in my book.
have not heard this tune for a long time.
it rawks big time!

It's a shame that they peaked so early (second album). They've actually released 4 or 5 albums since which by all standards are pretty decent, but none measure up to this one.
The lyrics are often a bit too heart-on-sleeve for me and sometimes just downright corny, such as this line from "The Dolphin's Cry":
The way you're bathed in light
reminds me of that night
god laid me down into your rose garden of trust
Rose garden of trust?! Is THAT what we're calling it these days?
I used to love Live when I was in college in the mid 90s. I think that they petered out in the sense that the lyrics got more trite and cliched as they went along. Although listening to the old songs today, I can understand why people didn't get into them.

they just released another CD.

OK, so I'm biased since they're from my hometown of York, PA. Throwing Copper was a great album. Almost no bad songs on the whole disk.
Whatever happened to them?

Didn't know they were from PA. I'm from PA and I still don't like them.
I thought I'd accidently switched to some top 40 station. What the...?
I wish my volume went to eleven.

Live when they were still good. I can't bear to listen to their latest albums

Spare me this tripe on RP!
Yeah! It's not even good in a gumbo. Spare us, BillG, please!
Man this whole CD rocks. I don't think a single song should be below 6.4.
Spare me this tripe on RP!
If only their later stuff was as good as this..there is not a bad song on the whole CD, everything is of the finest quality. They do a pretty decent concert as well.. I secretly hope that they will have another release that measures up to this fine work.
I think Throwing Copper has got to be in the top 3 favorite cd's I own, along with Eric Johnson's Ah Via Musicom.

It's also one of my favorites. Kinda uneven in spots (for example, I always skip that first track about the unhappy otters), but still quite good.

Easy on the ride cymbal killer!

Oh, 1994! Where have you been?
haha, Classic, '94 ROCKED!! solely because of this song
Ironically, Live was the worst live big-ticket concert I've ever seen. Saw them in Houston 10 years ago...I don't think they even changed the order of songs from the CD...
But, it's not a bad song, and brings back memories of the girl I went to the concert with...
produced by jerry harrison of talking heads fame engineered by Lou Giordano . this would have been much better album with an andy wallace - tom lord alge type engineer
Oh, 1994! Where have you been?
Never heard this before. Rocks well!!! With less whine in the voice I'd have given it one more point... but no matter, still great!

Ha! I always heard "I love you like Walter."
upinya wrote:

Nope, the lyric is:
our love is like water
pinned down and abused for being strange
our love is no other
than me alone for me all day
our love is like water/angels pinned down and abused
.
all over you, all over me
the sun, the fields, the sky
I've often tried to hold
the sea the sun, the fields, the tide
pay me now,
lay me down
An oldie, but a goodie.
"I love you, like water"?
Is that what he really says?
Are you kidding me?
so overplayed ten years ago that now it sounds too common, too vulgar

I love this band. I agree, this is not one of their best songs - so let's upload the others, then!

I have to disagree with the only good album.
Mental Jewelry is a great album and is better than this one. IMO.
I second that. I was really into this band when Mental Jewelry dropped. I played it over & over, and I saw so many people with different tastes in music all appreciate it. All from a band who weren't old enough to drink at the time. I think they got tainted too much by MTV by the time throwing copper came out. I was fortunate enough to catch Live in several small clubs & venues early on, I watched them 'evolve' into REM hopefuls.

I would argue that they only have one bad album-- V. besides MJ, Secret Sahmadi is good (if spotty), Distance to Here is good, and Brids of Prey is good.
Grab birds of Prey, skip the first track, and listen to "like I do" "sweet release" "run away" "ligthouse" "rivertown" then decide. Better than thowing copeer or MJ? probably not, but worth owning for sure.

Uh...this is good but Mental Jewelry is much better. If you like Throwing Copper, check out Mental Jewelry. You won't be sorry.
They've pretty much been lost in their own egos for a while now, but damn, what a drummer!

Play 'I alone' or 'selling the drama' for more good listening
this smiley reminds me of Natalie Portman in 'Garden State' and then The Shins come on and I am again reminded of Natialie Portman in 'Garden State' or maybe I'm just obsessed with Natalie Portman :D

I agree. This is a great album that my 12 year old daughter and I can enjoy in the car.
