Love is a dress that you made long
To hide your knees
Love to say this to your face
I'll love you only
For your days and excitement
What will you keep for to wear?
Someday drawing you different
May I be weaving in your hair?

Love and some verses you hear
Say what you can say
Love to say this in your ear
I'll love you that way
From your changing contentments
What will you choose for to share?
Someday drawing you different,
May I be weaved in your hair?

This song uses a very similar guitar line of Nick Drake.

Great album

Morning music ie look at the mirror when u wake up & return to the body
a cup of strong hot tea all of a sudden seems like a good idea
there's just something about this song that makes me drift away
What a transition today, and what a lovely peaceful song.

Too mellow for some; I like it just fine.
Another strong track from what I say is his/their best album.

They're OK for a couple of tracks but I find a whole album repetitive.
Easy, hothead.
He is singing.
You can't hear him over your fumes.

I can understand that the vocals may appeal to some, but they sure don't appeal to me.

THANK YOU RP for turning me onto Iron and Wine!
May you enjoy your climate change deluges with a potent pint and fine music.

Fred, are you sure you're getting enough sleep at night?  It seems, from your posts, that a large portion of the songs here have a sleep-inducing effect on you.  I do admire how you change up your adjectives and descriptions, though.

Oh my god, this song is pure ear candy.

Hi Radio Paradise! Thank you for the great music!
Can you play some Gipsy King? Thanks again :)

Fred, your technique must be different than mine. Spaceman Spliff perhaps, but rolling hash in a card filter cigarette is not righteous.

"Naked as She Came" is a beautiful song, and you're right, it's very similar.

I'm hearing a lot of what seems like audio compression artifacts in the background on the quieter parts - is it just me? I just looked up the song on Grooveshark and don't hear that, so maybe RP has a badly ripped mp3?
this guy sounds like he is about to open a vein...
solid 7 for me, too.
they always make me very sad, though.

Further reasons to rate it a solid 7.

dont suppose paradise can play their "Each Coming Night" once in awhile and for all you trivia buffs that song is on what movie
songtrack?? Love it.

sounds pretty good.classic rp-sad,sweet,and a little bit spooky.why couldn't i have found out about rp BEFORE being defunded and pauperised?even now i estimate the value of services rendered at over 400 usd.don't worry,rp-i will be getting that check for 5 usd in the mail asap.at that rate i can pay until the next ship comes in...
There's some good songwriting here, but I just don't like this guy's voice, and never have.  This track isn't as annoying as some of his stuff, though.  I'll vote 6/10.
I think a whole album of whispering would get on my nerves, though I like some of their stuff.

I was going to rate this song 7 because it's pleasant enough, but upping my rating to 8 to counteract some of the haters below. Lesbians? Really? Gah.
For me, the lyrics are really the only redeeming quality of this song; they are beautiful. Unfortunately, I can't get past everything else but I do find this the least offensive of their stuff that I've heard.
I just LOVE this song! And its verses. {#Cheers}

Just picked this one up. Here's why: It is a very simple album... honest, up-front. No overproduction at all. Fully acoustic. Southern indie folk at its best. I struggle to see how anyone couldn't enjoy Sam Beam's vocals. (Then again, I may be biased, as my singing voice is very similar to his.) Not overpowering at all; he compliments the sound of the instruments perfectly. The feel of the music is much like the physical album. The liner notes are grainy recycled paper, with simple white lyrics against a monochrome color background. The credits and thank yous consist of six lines of text. Song titles are handwritten cursive. The inside and outside of the case are the same painted grassy scene. The disc is a splash of green paint with no extra words. Listen to this album when you need time to reflect, or regain yourself. Prerequisites include the ability to enjoy a guy with a guitar, nothing more.

I love the way you appreciate the album art and the band.

The vocals are so peaceful... don't hate :)

I love this whole cd. It's very simple, but very complex at the same time. I also dig the Southern Gothic thing he's got going in the lyrics. I found Sam Beam kind of by accident, and I am very glad I did. An excellent song off an excellent cd.

A year ago I posted some 'ho-hum' comments about this album .... I'd like to revise that if I may and say that I now think it's one of the best records of the last two years, period.
I'm one week away from my first full week of the summer as a counselor at a youth summer camp (doing 3 weeks in all). After a long day of trying to keep up with the bottomless pits of energy that we know as Middle Schoolers, there's nothing better than a quick shower before lights out and some Iron & Wine on the iPod to lull me to sleep. Edit: Just saw the entry below mine...there's always some Nick Drake on my "Sleepy-sleeptime" playlist as well!

Hey, acoustic music and clear vocals without screaming! Sounds like home to me.

Yep, you've confirmed it. You're a moron. Thanks. I&W remains one of the best new artists around. Soft, no doubt, but very innovative in how they string tunes together.
Starting to really hate this band. I'd rather actually listen to Simon & Garfunkel.
I just can't stand the forced whisper. A song here or there is okay....but the entire freakin' album!! It gives me a headache after a couple of songs.

I heard their cover of Such Great Heights on the M&M's commercial. Very strange!!

It's mood music ... not for all times nor all places. Actually the CD as a whole is good - it's not easy to make music that's so simple yet interesting. Flaming Lips it ain't, I grant you ...

Why do these guys bore me so much? Maybe the Simon & Garfunkel wanna-be regroove. Blah...
mmmmmm no
Nice tune, but what is up with all the subdued vocals so common in todays music. What ever happened to vocalists like Steve Perry or Robert Plant that could just about bust glass with their power? P.S. reminds me of Pete Yorn.
I'm really starting to enjoy these guys...very pleasant, vocals quite reminiscent of older folk music. Purely delightful.
'tis good stuff... garden state has a great soundtrack

upgraded to a 8) ...now let's hear some Matt Pond PA
Here THIS time!!! Oddly, just making my new WISH list...writing I&W when this came on....
