Take my hand
Come with me
Into this crystal scenery
And wait, til I retain the ticket
You would never have the time
I would love to change your mind
You were there
And it was good in the beginning
Over here, see the lights
Arranging twilight sages
Commence to reveal it to the others
You would never have the time
I would love to change your mind
You were there
And it was good in the beginning
You were there
We were good in the beginning
Yeah, take my hand and come with me
Into this crystal village
And see the lights so fried in brightness
Cos you will never have the time
I would love to change your mind
You were there
And it was good in the beginning
Take my hand, come with me
I see the lights so brightly
And we fall as if we never really mattered
Cos you will never have the time
I would love to change your mind
It was there
And it was good in the beginning
We were there
It was good in the beginning.

Am I hearing a Cat Stevens' song or is that my imagination working overtime?

Suits this time of year, cold dark November nights. Good driving music.

Me too:“Father and Son”
From: ‘Tea for the Tillerman’ (1970)

Yeah, Pete Yorn lacks vision. He lacks a plan. He lacks a killer single. Geez - I like his music! I guess I'm a dork, but I catch myself mouthing the words to his songs as I'm driving down the road, and then thinking about them long after the song is over. Sometimes, it's just good to listen to a song for the sake of a song, and not for any redeeming, life-changing quality. "A blue flag blooming by the sea, a simple blue flag is to me..."

Oh there are lyrics? lol Seriously lyrics would have to be pretty profound for me to pay attention to them, its the music, man!

7 < 6. Kind of repetitive. The song was good enough in the beginning, too.
Yorn moved to LA in 2000 "Turn of the Century" and left a significant other behind evidently.

I kinda like it on first listen...maybe I'm just shallow and easily pleased.

I listened to this cd last night. I'm a big fan of his first two cds. After that he's been (at least to me) more hit or miss. But his first two albums are uniformly pretty good.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALL TIME SONGS FROM ANYONE AT ANYTIME!!!!!! THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH NUMBERS TO PROPERLY RATE, SO I WILL HAVE TO SETTLE FOR 10!!!
Really like CAT "TALIB" Stevens!
if Cat Stevens sang on WB teen angst soundtracks I reckon it would sound like this...
I've always loved this song.

aye, my thoughts exactly.
sounds like a real struggle, with this guy

Pete Yawn?
Why does this sound like Robert Plant?
This will forever remind me of the Boston sports legends that have passed. It is featured in the City of Champions DVD during this segment. I love how music can do that!

Yep. Me too. I can't explain it but I won't apologize for it either. ;)
it may not be one of pete's best songs, but he does put on a pretty decent show. musicforthemorningafter is a better album than the day i forgot, though.
I sure hope he's paying royalties to Cat Stevens. Wow--that's a sentence that I never thought I'd write.
Pete Yawn.

I saw this guy open for Foo Fighters. One of the worst performances I've ever seen.

Thank you- I hate when I am searching my tired, failing brain cells for a link that just is out of reach.

Yeah, I can hear "Father and Son"...I also hear the guitar in George's "Here Comes the Sun". Funny how we all put little pieces together to make new songs.
Likeable tune. Pete Yorn's pretty consistent there.

Thanks. I just heard this for the first time and spent the entire song thinking it was a remake of something.
On his Live in New Jersey official bootleg CD, he talks about how people always think he is ripping off someone on this song, (I can't remember who he says they accuse him of ripping off) and then he says, that these people are wrong because he actually ripped off Wilco's "She's a Jar," and then sings some of "She's a Jar" to this tune.

I hate hate hate hate repetition (:-) with a passion. So, the end of this tune had me looking to mute - something I rarely do. Like my Dad always used to say "I liked the way it ended" - meaning, of course, he was glad it was over.
I loved his first album (especially the track EZ), but I can also see that he might not have the musical vision to carve out a long-term career.
This guy is really young and pretty talented and incredibly sexy. This album is pretty good. Not fantastic, but pleasant enough.
Don't feel strongly one way or the other about his music, but i always thought he had a really good "Rock star" name
Several people mentioned it in the thread before you. In the verses the melody is very similar to "Father & Son", not at all in the rest of the song. At least no one said it sounded like Pink Floyd.
