Put the pen
To the paper
Press the envelope
With my scent
Can't you see
In my handwriting
The curve Of my g?
The longing
Oh
Who is left that
Writes these days?
You and me
We'll be different
Take the cap
Off your pen
Wet the envelope
Lick and lick it
Oh
I need you
The time is running out
Oh baby
Can't you hear me call?
It turns me on
To imagine
Your blue eyes
On my words
Your beautiful pen
Take the cap off
Give me a sign and I'd come running
Oh
It's you
I want you
To the paper
Press the envelope
With my scent
Can't you see
In my handwriting
The curve Of my g?
The longing
Oh
Who is left that
Writes these days?
You and me

Aha, great stuff from Polly Jean......she hails from my town and I'm off to see her play locally in about an hour as a warm up for this year's Glastonbury
Wonderful, how raw and gutsy and powerful this is! Her ROCKING guitar in this always makes me think of Jonny G, and that's a Good Thing. Sizzling drums, too!
Hugely acclaimed and awarded artist. Not for me though, I don't get her at all. Sorry fans, PSD.
oh, haven't heard this for a long time-
GREAT!
GREAT!
Great song, great video !!!
Song and band in need of deep therapy! and so will I if this plays again.
For a second I though it was King Crimson or Robert Fripp...
"This blows." & "PJ Harvey is incredible! One of the all-time great artists."
All in 2 consecutive posts. What an amazing free domain we are listening in.
I agree with the first post especially......Poop

Hmmm...I used to own a couple of her CDs. Then sold them when I realized I didn't really like her after all. It was more the *idea* of her!
Kept trying to like her...but...there's no use. I like Bjork, so go figure. It's not just her voice or that her lyrics don't move me at all...it's something else that I can't figure out.
Anyway...I think I may have to finally give up on PJ. Too bad, so sad. :?
Me too. I've tried but I just don't get it. :?:
prove positive that caterwauling can indeed make you rich and famous!
I find this song whinny and annoying! Yuck!
Yeah, more Polly!!
<-o<
This blows.
PJ Harvey is incredible! One of the all-time great artists.

If you do manage it drop us all an email, you'd be amazed how easy it is move and stay around in Europe and not necessarily starve. We pretty much like visitors who want to make a difference, and try to help out.
If you're going to be arse bustingly broke, a new scene can do it, n'est ce pas? :D
Pick it up and go 8) :D

Well, thank you! That is hospitality I like. I will make it over. Got to stretch my legs and my mind.

Gotta say I agree with that.

wow I'd give a lot to see PJ in europe at some crazy event, walking around with nutty, sophisticated, and beautiful euro people.
Dream on, how'm I ever gonna get to europe?

Doesn't sound like The Boxtops to me!

Love Polly Jean! Saw her this summer in Sweden, second time I have seen her, she is amazing. One of the few great musical talents of our current times.

Wow, that's exactly how I feel about PJ! When I first heard "Dress" from her first album, I was like, "A chick that rocks! That's cool!" But like you, I was attracted to the *idea* of her. It was an exciting, stormy affair at first, but now there's just nothing there: no passion, no interest, nothing. I couldn't listen to her anymore, I had to end the relationship. I just sold back all of her discs to spun.com.
I didn't even buy Björk's latest nightmare of a disc, because I'm in denial with regards to her. We'll always have "Debut".
wow! great song! but i gotta say i thought i was listening to siouxsie.
This would be a good song if it contained music or singing.

YES! PJ is awful!
And bloody long-winded, too.
Yish.
YES! PJ is great.....hope many ears out there give her a try...that NY Stories album is a classic with much gratitude to Patti Smith

Rockin'!
I caught her do this tune on Letterman recently. It was cool enough to store on the PVR, that's for sure.

Why ever not? Get out there and listen to some more immediately. I think she's probably in the top five singers songwriters to come out of the Yeovil alternative scene.
Closer to the Rid of Me CD...
Much better than the other Uh Huh Her track played earlier. There's tints of Radiohead on this one.
Wow--not a PJ Harvey fan until now!
You play this PJ right after Dylan melancholy.
Now that would be a tour to see: PJ opens for Dylan.
