When your boots are well worn in
And you're tired of travelling
When you got nowhere to call your own
You know my place can be your home

To the rescue here I come
To the rescue here I come

When I was out there playing hard
With my big attitude and my broken heart
Poison my only friend
And my drinking addiction

To the rescue there you were
To my rescue there you were

Now we're both out there floating around
I still got to space but you're on the ground
You're in my heart you're in my head
Right now we don't need no rescuing

To the rescue I'll never let you fall
To my rescue you've been on call

Trying a bit too hard to underplay themselves lyrically and vocally, but the riffs are good waifs!
Waif'...

Wouldn't the plural of "waif" be "waives"? Oh well, at least the music is listenable.

They had a song a few years ago that was a real anthem, "I'm in London Still". It was about yet another Australian who gets stranded in London and just can't quite leave, despite the homesickness. This was me for a while and my friends used to screech the song down the phone whenever I'd call from far away. I like The Waifs. I doubt they'd ever play in France, though.

Guess I (or someone far better than me) need to upload some Goanna. Not just a big lizard Goanna Band

Wow, just listening I would have sworn this was Lucinda Williams voice...
Would never guess that there is someone else that sounds like her.

Not if their last names were Waif, in which case it would just be pluralized with the addition of an s.
Slow Weekend?
heavenly child...
I love the mandolin on this song!
I ran into these guys travelling in Australia, in a tiny little town named Maruya, I think. I was camped next to some Aussie surfers, and we all went out on the town (tiny little coast town) on a saturday night, and it turns out everyone in town had packed into a the tiny little community hall (BYOB) to hear the Waifs. It was totally awesome and magical, and I've been a fan ever since:)

Just saw them here at the Aladdin Theatre. Great show. It was my first-I'm a recent convert thanks to RP.

Funny, I was thinking Sarah Harmer
We need more Waifs singing, like Kate Moss

Great Album - Cute Girls
There's something a little rough around the edges, even on such a beautiful tune, that attracts me to this. Thanks RP for introducing me to yet more great music.
Really lovely stuff. I also like "Flesh and Blood". Wonderful. :D
