And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes
And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes
(Lisa Hannigan)
Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind
My mind... my mind
'Til I find somebody new
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me

"The Blower’s Daughter" is truly the assassin of happiness.
This song just Blows.
Man is this sappy!
Music to slash your wrists to
Every time this comes on, I quickly go to the comments to see if there’s new hate for the song.
I love the tune myself.

Ya there is. And we're living in it. I can't believe this made it to RP.

This is undoubtedly the worst song I've ever heard on RP. (Geez Bill). I thought this was Ed Sheeren at first.

I get where you're coming from, and I typically expect more depth in lyrics too. And yet to me, it works here. The repeating of 'I can't take my mind off of you' speaks to obsession, as in you try to think of something else, but you can't. Coupled with the desperation/emotion in his voice, and how he varies how he says it each time, I gotta admit it tugs at me.

OCD much? Please never play this again.
I am hearing Don Maclean.

This is so horrible it provoked my very first posting. No one could perform something this bad by lack of talent alone.
"...lighten up, Francis..."
It sounds like it should be so significant and powerful, but for me lands totally flat, sounds too contrived, not genuine.
unbearable
I get the feeling he can't take his eyes off of her. Might just be me..
Blows.

True indeed. Similar to what "Falling Slowly" is for "Once". Very sad but unforgettable song/movie pairs
Outstanding singer songwriter. Song used to excellent effect in the masterful Mike Nichols film version of Closer.

NO MORE!
This is a little less repetative...
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You'd be like Heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last, love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of youPardon the way that I stare
There's nothin' else to compare
The sight of you leaves me weak
There are no words left to speak
But if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that it's real
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of youI love you, baby
And if it's quite alright
I need you, baby
To warm the lonely night
I love you, baby
Trust in me when I say
Oh, pretty baby
Don't bring me down, I pray
Oh, pretty baby
Now that I've found you, stay
And let me love you, baby
Let me love youYou're just too good to be true

Love it almost as much as I loved Morris Albert's Feelings!

Not his best work but I do like this. A solid 7 for me.

Sung with feeling - but often with a very dodgy sense of pitch. Makes me go 'eeuww' sometimes. :-&
Not one of his best songs. But his debut album is brilliant though. Saw him performing life at Brixton Academy in March - outstanding!!!
Sucko-barfo.
It really doesn't get much better than Damien. One of the most perfect debut albums in recent times!

Okay. Let's tell it how it is. Joe is a jackass.
I've always loved this. A beautiful tune form an usual first album.
Outstanding
annoying....
This track "The Blowers' Daughter" was the first by Damien Rice I've had the pleasure of hearing...I LOVED IT!
The album is interesting to listen to. After several listens, I've started to think that the songs are excellent but the interpretations/performances/production aren't to my liking.
Kinda like how I like Emmylou Harris doing covers of Lucinda Williams songs better than Lucinda herself. I'm not sure who I'd tap to do Damien Rice covers.

There guys sure make The Four Seasons sound like a Mega Group! Where's Frankie Valli when you need him!
This is one of the weakest songs on this album - I was blown away by the rest of it...quite worth a look if the alternative-folk thing is to your liking.

What's a blower?
This song is awful. I'd like to hear more of his songs in hopes I can change my opinion.
Hail Damien Rice. Hail the king of sensitive male singer songwriters. John Mayer and Chris Carraba......please take a bow!
Memo to Damien: The next line is "You're just too good to be true."
I think I've like just about all the songs I've heard from this album. Anyone here have it and care to offer a brief review?
Oh retch!! Blech.
