Yeah
And I'm just a waste of her energy
And she's just wasting my time
Mmmmm
So why don't we get together
And we could waste everything tonight
And we could waste and we could waste it all, tonight
Yeah
And we could waste and we could waste it all
And I don't pretend to know what you know
No no
Now please don't pretend to know what's on my mind
If we already knew everything that everybody knows
We would have nothing to learn tonight
And we would have nothing to show tonight
Oh but everybody thinks
That everybody knows
About everybody else
Nobody knows
Anything about themselves
Cause they're all worried about everybody else
Yeah
Mmmm
Oh
Loves just a waste of our energy yeah
And this life's just a waste of our time
So why don't we get together
We could waste everything tonight
And we could waste and we could waste it all yeah
But everybody thinks
That everybody knows
About everybody else
Now now now nobody knows
Anything about themselves
Cause they're all worried about everybody else yeah
Oh
And we could waste
And I'm just a waste of her energy
And she's just wasting my time

MIGHTY repetitious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He isn't mumbling, whining or depressing...KILL HIM!
Johnson might be nice if he would occasionally play something different. But he's got the same four riffs, which he does endlessly. As a result, you can't tell one thing from another and it all turns into Musical Grits.
I know he's not very popular here, but I love this guy. Sometimes its nice to just mellow out.
we don't need this!!!!!!
please stop it!!!!!
very, very plebeian
I like this song. It's FUN
this emoticon doesn't have any relevance to my comment, i know

It's funny how bold and loud arguments over what's good and what's not become when someone is hiding behind their monitor. It'd be funny to see this same conversation if you two guys met at a bar and bluedot mentioned he liked Jack Johnson or maybe perhaps Monekysdad mentioned first that he didn't like him. I'm sure the reply from either of you would not be nearly as ballsy as it is here.
very true...very funny
This guy is completely incapable of singing.
This gets a much greater score today, because it is so fitting for the day, than it would otherwise!

Jack Johnson is like Cream of Wheat. He's just there. It is neither good nor bad, neither exciting nor boring. He's got a future as a well paid lounge act at the Luxor.
Wasting Time and On And On....
John Jackson does both - make it stop please?!?!
My 17 year old daughter found his Dreams CD on her school bus and shared it with me. Having never heard of him before, we were both really surprised to find we liked it. Now it's a hit with all her friends!
Don't know why, but I can't stand this guy.
The guy wears his influences on his sleeve and it all goes down very easy. It feels like a Bob Marley song after you've heard it 500 times, right out of the box. Still I gotta say I like it. Not groundbreaking but catchy.
geez. im already so sick of this guy.
i dont find this stuff cute.
i could do without the steve miller vocal impression too.
30 something women dig this sort of stuff.
I feel like I shouldn't like this guy... but I do. :)

Yes. This reminds me a lot of 'Space Cowboy'.

what he said
good coffee shop music...and other times as well..more JJ please
I like JJ. Refreshing lyrics

Interesting comment...I didn't hear this connection, but my daughter's two favorite bands are Steve Miller and Jack Johnson...and in this one and "Take the Money and Run" especially I can hear a similarity.

nah, he's more like a laid back surfer guy from hawaii with short hair

I enjoy the groove ... the guy's voice is pretty cool too ... the sound almost has a BHTM thing going ... but the lyrics! Sheesh ... all I can say is that the lyrics waste time.

Actually, no it doesn't bluedot. It exposes me as someone who really doesn't like anything about your intelligent, talented, and deeply insightful artist(that's a laugh) now, go away, I'll post my opinions here if I feel like it, and you can too, and you can be sure that I won't question your tastes in music, so bugger off and let me have mine. twit!

Derivative is the word. Coming just after Hendix is sounded like we were going to get treated to two tunes by JH in a row. Nothing wrong with borrowing from the master, this just sounded dull and a disappointing coming after Jimi. (Mmmm, sounded a lot better the second time....must be the weather!)

calling him a "drivelmeister" just exposes you as an utterly uncomprehending person.
get a clue, monkeysdad.

I discovered Jack Johnson w/ Brushfire Fairytales. I took a chance and bought it after having experienced his surfing movies which he contributed to the soundtracks as well as directing (he is also a professional surfer - or was). I listen to that Album (Brushfire Fairytales) frequently still.
This song is OK, but IMHO the On and On album is nowhere near as good as his first. His best songs to date are probably "Inaudible Melodies", "Flake", "Sexi Plexi", "Drink the Water", and "F-stop Blues". All of which appear on Fairytales.
If you like Ben Harper, you'll like Jack. Vice Versa. Jack is talented and unique.
Jack Johnson = Highly Overrated
Funny... the name of the album is on and on...
which is how I feel about this song.. it just goes on and on...

Ya' know, I don't mind the guitar ... and you're right, it kinda reminds me of BHTM, but I simply can't get past the lyrics. Blech!! It's the words that make the song a "waste."

What percentage of decent music is NOT borrowed at least in part?
Just because it reminds you of someone else doesn't mean it sucks.
Regardless, this is certainly not very representative of Jack Johnson, if you're trying to write the guy off. A popular song for the radio, and a great song IMHO, but most of Jack's music is more intimate and simple.
Of course, people willing to write someone off in three minutes aren't likely to take kindly to the subject matter of his songs anyway.
It may be awfully derivative, but it's bouncy and an easy listen.

sounds like jack "borrowed" a Big Head Todd guitar riff...
Nobody knows anything about themselves,
'Cause they're all worried about everybody else...

Move it along, Jack. Your 15 minutes is up.
Nice groove. I like the subtle reggae rifts.

I would have said it was far from grating. Solid 6 or 7.
Finally a song I added :)
So ofcourse I love it :)
Chill out man!

The more I listen to this album, the more I dig it. His guitar sound on that lick is awesome.
