I have always loved this...and I like how the title means "forgotten" but there's no way I can ever forget the truly unique and spooky coolness of this trippy track.
Shades of Imogen Heap - which is A Good Thing.
Like, reminds me of trendy European hotel lobbies.
Debussy does *not* fit into hipster jazz. A nice number if not for that.
This track is also in regular rotation on SomaFM's Groove Salad. @William and Rusty Hodge are friends. I won't complain if one is having an influence on the other. :-)
Ah, no, this is an eclectic step too far. Mixing Debussy into this number is really jarring and out of place, IMO. I usually like Koop's work but I've got to give this a miss :(
Sick

In the interest of countering all the crass commentary below, I just gotta say Koop is DA bomb. Play more!! Pretty sure I found "Waltz for Koop" because of RP and it gets heavy rotation on my iPod. Marvelous music.

another birthday CD from Kazoo! he also tells me the little female vocal I found familiar was GoldFish - he recognized what I was trying to sing (this is love).

Actually, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, I believe that is an excerpt taken from Debussy's "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun)"

Heard this today after many years of NOT hearing it on here (although I see it went back into the rotation a couple of years ago). This really reminds me of my early days of listening here...what a lovely surprise to hear it again, as I'd completely forgotten about it!
I have never heard of these people before, but this is absolutely amazing. One song and I'm a fan.
These are the lyrics I was able to find, they seem pretty close (there are a couple spots that are unclear and I'm not going to spell out Cecilia Stalin's scatting):

I think Debussy's original would also find welcoming ears around here...

What a difference between this and the peppy pieces on Koop Islands.

Every Koop song played on this station is Quite Likeable, IMO.
Bill's digging deep into the past today. Mine is the first comment in twelve years!
And that comment is:
Womderful bass effects with good pair of 'phones.

Okay, so the flute appears to be a sample of Debussey's "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun."

It's very seldom that I hear something electronic on radio paradise that is 1) good and 2) i haven't heard of.
This is both those things, RP gets big points for this in my books. NICE ONE!

Sounds like Sade trying to reinvent her career
Maybe its a great song, but it just doesnt suit my mood at the moment. Therefore, meh, to it!!
Sounds like chris kattan if he were female..

Interesting to see the evocative examples given.
From Charlie Brown to Trek and Dark Shadows.

The artist name, the sound, only make me think of one thing, and it smells really bad.
Boring.....almost numbing.
Gosh this is weird. I like it. I like weird. Sometimes.
i think they lifted the fluty/alto sax riff from the charley brown halloween special, where snoopy is cruising thru the pumpkin patch. but kudos to the spock reference too.
IMO the flute riff was the start of Debussy's Prelude Apre Midi something a la Faune - sorry, my French sucks, I can't remmeber the title. Lots of disagree, ent on it though...
Like the piece overall though...

If you mean the electronic flute like "instrument" that follows her voice in some points, that strongly reminds me of the score in some areas of Metroid Prime (the Game Cube title). Good soundtrack in that game, btw, very moody...

Koop is a swedish group, and it is GLÃMD (forgotten in english) actually, not GLOMD. If your browser cannot tell the difference, it is an O with two dots over it - we scandinavians are funny like that, you know. We like our own quirky little letters. Don't know much about Conan though, except that he was cimmerian.
I'd probably like it better if I was on something, but then in the words of Invader Zim: "Worse? or Better?"

It's the tune of the song which Kaa the snake sings to Mowgli in The Jungle Book. The title is Trust in Me.

RP does, in fact, bill itself as "eclectic radio." But with Moby and Koop being played back-to-back, maybe it's a little too eclectic for my tastes.
The flute is Debussy's Prelude to the afternoon of a Faun. I don't know if that was also used in that movie or not.

I would guess Koop could refer to Ko-op or Co-op... like in co-operation... Good albums... mellow. A bit like the Cafe Del Mar compilations...

This is a great track, indeed. I strongly recommend their latest(?) album "Waltz for Koop". A lot jazzier and less electronic.
BTW... Although Swedish is my mother tounge, I have no idea what Koop means. "Glomd" means "forgotten", though.
Wow! I haven't heard this good a ripoff of classical riffs since The Nice!
The beginning sounds like the background music for a Star Trek episode. It'd fit well in one where Kirk is trying to get his swerve on with some yeoman.
I like the name, it fits the vibe completely
