Feel like hiding out
No sign of comfort yet
Have a nap while no ones looking
Bring some inspiration to the man
In my head
A namesake out of reach
Strange days upon us now
we leave the dust of conversation
Hanging in the light above the bed

Leave me now
Cos tonight its driving me mad
I guess I'll be all right
But tonight it's driving me mad

Year after year
Demons always come
Fail to materialise
Way beyond my understanding
Find my only comfort in your hands

Hold me now
Cos tonight its driving me mad
This dream can fill you up
But tonight it's driving me mad

Hey diamond girl
Restless in my head
Say what lies between us
A host of everyday distractions
But most of all its music taking me

It's driving me mad
Still I can't refuse
Even when it's driving me mad
I guess I'll be all right
When tomorrow brings some relief
This dream can fill you up
So put it out and find what's underneath

Tickets for the upcoming show May 23' in Vancouver.  Can't wait.
Well, I appreciate YOU, Bill!
You know who's as talented as Lindsay Buckingham? Neil Finn. And he will do it for less than 20 million that Buckingham demanded to tour with Fleetwood Mac.
A uniqe voice . The sound of NZ. Together with the Muttonbirds a good reason to dream of a trip down under

Neil Finn. Crowded House. Solo. Eddie Vedder and FM collabs.

What a treasure.

Thank you.

Good point. I'll follow suit.  9
Neil is so underrated. His songs are so well crafted and filled with unsentimental emotion. His melodies are like the best chocolate you've ever had.
Such a subtle masterpiece of Finnwork.
I was hooked on Split Enz and never stopped being a fan of whatever the Brothers Finn where up to. Neil is a prince with a gift for song writing very few have. Glad to have him in the RP circulation. Thanks, Bill G.

EXCELLENT! The last few "reply to replies" I posted only put up the latter of the postings. Now we get both, and rightly so! Whichever programmer had that idea deserves a raise! So back to my reply... what the fuck are mutton birds?! I'm sure Google can tell me, but I sure hope people don't eat them!
Again, thank you!!!

Wow, you're practically neighbors with the Finns! How's life in Tasmania, "world's largest producer of opium alkaloids for the pharmaceutical market"?

Pretty good song!
I like Neil Finn, and this is another great song from a guy who specialises in great songs. Someone equates this with late era Petty? Wash out your ears sir. This is brilliant, but Petty is Godlike, unassailable.
I get the (unspoken) reference to Wildflowers, but as Petty's second best solo album, it's beyond Neil's reach. Not by much mind.

Just when I think I see and appreciate all the layers of genius in Neil Finn's head, new rays burst forth, and I can see even deeper.  Bravo!

Unnecessarily harsh.  I'm just as happy with late-era Tom Petty as I am with prime-of-youth Petty.  Same goes for Neil Finn.

Favorite Neil Finn song. Love to hear more from the whole Finn family.
New solo album "Dizzy Heights" by Neil Finn out Feb. 2014.

Haunting, as always; especially coming after a song penned by a guy who went mad and killed his wife.  Oh, the Yin and Yang of Passion!
"most of all it's music (like this) taking me"
Sounds a little like Magnet.
I love love love him....and now, I hear where Calexico must get some inspiration from too.
{#Guitarist}{#Hearteyes}
Great tune, thanks!

I always remember this as one of the first songs I discovered on RP, as I was first falling in love with this place.
This is one of the songs I originally heard on RP that introduced me to Neil Finn's solo work (thanks, Bill). However, this version is not the mix on the album One All (as released in North America); I imagine it must be the version from One Nil instead...?

Sounds REALLY good (especially after a square and a half of Dancing Bear Shroom/ Canna Chocolates; Happy Earth Day!) on a sunny Sunday afternoon...
AND IT'S DRIVING ME MAD
I guess I'll be all right...but tonight, it's driving me mad...
Can't go wrong with Neil Finn, and RP always gives me my daily dose of him and then some!

OUTSTANDING - AS ALWAYS!

Ringo out - Neil in!

And we had the true SILVER BEATLES!

I'm a Crowded House fan, but this is mediocre at best.

Neil Finn, playing with Crowded House at the Waterfront in Belfast on November 27, 2007.

He's my hero, always will be. Seeing him and the Crowdies twice this year, and hearing all those songs that I love so much live, was a dream come true. A recurring dream...

For your music, Neil, I will Love You 'Til The Day I Die.

Neil Finn - "Driving Me Mad" Live-acoustic (2002)

An acoustic performance of "Driving Me Mad" by Neil Finn. The song is from Neil's solo album "One Nil", or "One All" in the USA. This performance originally appeared on RollingStone.com in 2002.

I am coming to believe Neil can do no wrong... why didn't I discover him long ago? hum...
Very clever.  Following Life on Mars with Driving Me Mad . . . commentary on the recently departed television show.
As I get close to 11 straight hours behind this desk, I just have to say, I really needed some Neil Finn about now! THANKS!
Best thing to come out of New Zealand since kiwi fruit.

I can never get too much of this CD.  I was listening to this song this am on the way to work.  It has been a while, so I like hearing it twice today!
This song drives me mad with pleasure.

I thought he was singing "I'm driving at midnight"

I think you can hear hints of this later work even back then. Some of the slower, "prettier" songs he wrote or co-wrote have some of the same elements.

Neil is one of my musical heroes .... so melodic, and great rythyms!  It must be the beat of NZ!

Does songwriting ever get better than this?
This is why I listen to RP!
Neil is surely incapable of writing weak songs. Thanks Bill!
Forgive me if I've already posted this, but {#Hearteyes}!!!!

Oh yeah coming after the Fever... DRIVING ME ABSOLUTELY BONKERS and God how I LOVE IT bring some inspiration to the Man in my head, Bill!
So beautiful!! One of the best pop/rock artist you never hear on pop/rock radio (in all case in France). How unfair.
Love that crazy auctioneer in the middle bit.

I couldn't agree more. I'm a silly Pearl Jam fan whose initial interest in this DVD was the Eddie Vedder involvement. I ended up falling in love with the whole thing and it made me a HUGE Neil Finn fan.

A melody with lyrics that are as balanced and smooth as a straight 6. A talent of the understated. :

LOVE. (Not to mention relate to.) This may be the best track off this album.
It's crazy how good this track is
Top o' the pops. Neil Finn is a god. Unfortunately, this version is slower than the original from his Australasian album One Nil.
Very talented melodist! I like the Finn Borthers.
