I've gone to ground
I'm watching porn
In my hotel dressing gown
And now I dream of you
But I still believe
There's only enough for one in this
Lonely hotel suite
The journey's long
And it feels so bad
I'm thinking back to the last day we had.
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know that I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you
I'm nearly with you
When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny
On a clear day
I'll fly home to you
I'm bending time getting back to you
Old moon fades into the new
And soon I know I'll be back with you
I'm nearly with you
I'm nearly with you
When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny
When I'm weak I draw strength from you
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood
And when I'm down you breathe life over me
Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny
I'll fly, I'll fly home
I'll fly home and I'll fly home
And when you're lost I know how to change your mood"
It's a pity Sia doesn't have more songs like this.

I do like the eclectic mix, so I shouldn't complain, but does this really belong here? It's perfectly OK for shopping along to while stoned, but I'd love to know why it's earned the privilege of RP playlist. It's not that it's not my taste, I just fail to see much quality in it. Help me out, willya?
If you "fail to see much quality in it" that fundamentally means that it is "not to (your) taste"; there is no scientific formula for determining tastes. This song presently has a rating of 7.8 (not 4), which means that the majority of people rating it seem to believe that it does "really belong here".

Listen to it through headphones. Imagine stepping off a mountain and soaring over a beautiful landscape. Or something to that effect Lol

Wow, me too.
The harmonies grab me on this tune.
On the "nasal tone" subject, it comes thru to me a little when the melody modulates up.
But I don't find it unappealing, quite the contrary.
10!
?
Actually, John Lennon's singing style was often called "too nasal" by some critics - especially in the early days. There are others: Dave Matthews, for one.
Well, if Tom Petty's or Chris Martin's voices were not on that list....then it just goes to show how worthless the critics are...except me of course...

Lets see if we work our way through the Garden State soundtrack.

I like it a lot.
I could do ANYTHING EVERYTHING with it.
Oh God her voice. Oh God that bass. Oh God that whatever it is... DESTINY!

seems to happen at the perfect time, each time.

No. That type of music is not played here really. I'd say Air is the closest thing that gets regular play.
He's got Boards of Canada's remix of Beck's Broken Drum in the library. Also Aquarius.

Nice song.
I vastly prefer the end section - where the chord progression is I-IV-V, with Sia vamping over the top. Her voice intermingled so well with the instrumentation. That said the whole song's pretty decent, I just prefer the chord choices at the end (which is a shame, because it's the shortest part.)
Oh well, beggars can't be choosers! I can't imagine I'll hear this song or any others in today's playlist on the FM dial today...
(actually it's the other way around, since this song came out in 2001 and Safe and Sound was released in 2002)
Very nice!
I know...my mind is about 7.6 light years away listening to this...
Anymore nasal than Michael Stipe or Neil Young?
Billy Corgan, the king of nasal, discussion over.
I totally agree, sukilau - I can close my eyes and take a breath without a hitch in it when I listen to this song...
i was just thinking that.
What alarm? I have this song and I listened to it for the alarm: I don't hear it.
I believe it's the ringing from the open strings on the acoustic guitar track. I think that some speakers will really bring those mid range frequencies out.

Succubus?
However you wanna spin this, f**knugget.
Agreed. There certainly seems to be a lot of female singers that are guilty of this style of singing. why is that? Any male vocalists ever accused of "nose singing"?
Anymore nasal than Michael Stipe or Neil Young?
as in "Breathe Me" Sia?
Ditto that!
What?! Sorry, I wasn't paying attention...
Me too! Nasal some are saying? So what! As long as the voice is sexy, the music ethereal, that works for me!

For me, a "nasal" vocalist is not inherently a turn off but the song/singer have to be really good for me to ignore it. This one achieves on both counts in my book.
R Kelly sings this way, too - makes me want to rip out his adenoids
still feelin' it, i guess...

This is Sia singing. Get her solo stuff.
Yes, and we like it.
It's still 1000x better than Neil Young's "normal" "singing"

Perfect vibe for the fogged in Los Angeles "winter" we're experiencing right now.
Especially if it's Tina Dico:
Not Tina Dico on this track, it's Sia. Can't fault the pic though!
Especially if it's Tina Dico:
So I'm working away, not really paying attention to the music. "Wait, did she just say...."
Well yes, yes she did. So here I am living up to my moniker. :-)
I feel the same about this song and the group. Aural ecstacy. A definite 10.
Couldn't agree more! You can be gellin' like a felon, or chillin'...but at the end of the day I really do like my Zero 7.
