And then she finally gave birth
Years go by, still I don't know
Who shall inherit this earth
And no one will know my name until it's on a stone
Woah
This could be your lucky day in hell
Never know who it might be at your doorbell
This could be your lucky day in hell, in hell
Waking up with an ugly face
Winston Churchill in drag
Looking for new maternal embrace
Another tired old gag
Am I just a walking bag of chewed up dust and bones?
Woah
This could be your lucky day in hell
Never know who it might be at your doorbell
This could be your lucky day in hell, in hell
Father Theresa, you can't make me into you
I never wanna be like you
Why can't you see, it's me
You know it's time to let me go
This could be your lucky day in hell
Never know who it might be at your doorbell
This could be your lucky day in hell, in hell, in hell
This could be your lucky day in hell
Never know who it might be at your doorbell in hell
This could be your lucky day in hell, in hell
In hell, in hell
You should really research how many Eels songs are in movies. Here, let me help.
Interesting... I've never heard this song before, but I've definitely heard that line before and it definitely stuck with me. Peter Gabriel wrote Willow Farm in 1972:
Oh, there's Mum & Dad, and good and bad,
and everyone's happy to be here.
There's Winston Churchill dressed in drag,
he used to be a British flag, plastic bag, what a drag.
The frog was a prince, the prince was a brick, the brick was an
egg, the egg was a bird.
cheery. yes. just what I was thinking.
Today is your lucky day.
You took too giant a step.

it's like those Keane prints from the 50s of kids with enormous eyes thrown into a horror film.
One hit wonder
Really?

One hit wonder
time for the next album, E !!!

Great insight into the music of Eels.
Mark Everett is the driving force behind Eels. His dad was a brilliant but emotionally inaccessible physicist who likely had something like Asperger's. I saw a documentary about father and son which gave the impression that Mark is still working out a lot of issues from childhood. He's also gone through a lot as an adult.

All this morning we have been taken on a trip through suicide, religious themes, and hell. I enjoy the themes and that we are walking a little on the dark side this morning. A dark side is a healthy part of a whole person. Don't ignore or run away from it.
Smile. You are human.Just another day...all dressed in gray.

Groundhog day... caught in a time warp
Johnny Cash sent 'em there!
Don't forget the similarly-themed "The Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash.
Thanks for the reminder!
Yes, we have to take in the good with the bad, otherwise we are living in DENIAL. Reality is much more fulfilling when experienced as a WHOLE.
This is the result of good music mixed by a good DJ - there's a whole group of us that have been taken on the same ride.

Smile. You are human.Complete agree. Is there a Pulitzer Prize for radio programming? If so, Bill should submit this set.

Actually...there's a lyric in the Genesis song, "Supper's Ready" where they mention "Winston Churchill dressed in drag..." from the Peter Gabriel era of the band.
Yes, we're happy as fish and gorgeous as geese,
and wonderfully clean in the morning!
Cheers!

BTW they advertize that the ring tone is available - I'd like to hear the syncopated cacophony as a ring tone!
Winston Churchill in drag

At a party once, when Churchill was drunk (kinda redundant), a woman said to him "Mr. Churchill, you are drunk" to which he replied "yes, madam, and you are ugly, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly".
It's kind of a sideways reference to that story I guess, trippy free association.
There are so many great ones - this one is far from being the cream of the crop!
Not bad, though ...
True comment!
Amen to that!
