Well, I heard you crying loud
All the way across town
'Cause you've been searching for that someone and it's me out on the prowl
As you sit around feeling sorry for yourself

Well, don't get lonely now
And dry your whining eyes
I'm just roaming for the moment, sleazing my backyard, so don't get
So uptight you've been thinking about ditching me

No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around

I heard it all before
So don't knock down my door
I'm a loser and a user, so I don't need no accuser
To try and slag me down because I know you're right

So go do what you like
Make sure you do it wise
You may find out that your self-doubt means nothing, ruins everything
You can't go forcing something if it's just not right

No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around

Woo

No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
When I come around
When I come around
When I come around

This song and Buddy Holly by Weezer got heavy play on MTV Asia, while I was traveling through India back in 1995.  Those songs always bring me back there and to the people I met on that trip.
This will always remind me of my stay in the Tuscan hills of Amiata mid-January to mid-April of 2005. Often, especially weekend evenings, as I'd be setting out on the hike uphill into the charming medieval town for some typically excellent local food, drink, and revelry, I'd pass by a garage attached to an old stone farmhouse that was not like all the others, for this one had a fledgling teenage Rock band practicing inside it. It made me chuckle that they always seemed to be playing this song as I would be passing along outside on the cobblestone lane. I could see and hear them trying their darnedest to get it worked out -- and having a great beer and wine-fuelled time while doing it, too; all of this, of course, to their unlucky neighbors' likely exasperation! As the weeks went by, they got better and better, and were soon doing other GD songs, Iggy, and Ramones, too...  -- And so again, we see -- MUSIC -- CAUSING BIG TROUBLE...
They had some solid tracks early in their catalogue - this is one of them 👍
Good Tune! Overplayed on the radio, but, still good!

I suggest you listen to his duet album with Norah Jones, it's a cover album of Everly Brothers songs. Their two voices together sound amazing (and not just because of Norah :-))
a duet with Norah Jones? will check this out at some point. individually I am mixed on their music...but both keep mixing it up. That counts for something.

I agree. Billie Joe Armstrong writes quite a lot of excellent pop songs.
I have always loved this album, it's great from top to bottom.  The louder the better.
green day seem to attract a massive following of what can only be described as Bell-ends.

prick more like, and I understand he is partial to a bit of cock too.
Could he not afford a guitar tuner back then?  This is awful.
After hearing the song infinite times it does get tiresome.Like OMD the variation on a finite set of chords they knew got boring.

Scottish Willie, your brother is James, right? And a great bro he is! Your BFF was Kimberly... what a piece of work that one is!  I could tell you so much, but I would never. I'm just glad you escaped her friendship.  You may not realize how I observed her  controlling you.  I'm so VERY thrilled you got out of her clutches. She was  a good friend  to both of us, but her heart is not in the right place.  I truly wish her well in Woodstoock, I think it will be a better place than LA.
Oh those adenoids
this song can smash the tops today and probably even in 50 years
Green Day is a good band.  At their best --- Jesus of Suburbia for instance --- they are borderline great.

+1
This guy always sounds like he's singing with a bad cold.
don't mind the song by any means, but why has it played twice in two hours

Brilliant comment, kcar!  Sad....true....and so very Sicilian of you ;-)  (hopefully that reference hits the mark w/ you)

Long Live RP!!

I hate this song

This was the 90s version of the 80s new wave.
Woodstock 1995. Mud people. Classic RnR. These guys get it.
By far there greatest album

Great memories of teenage times, this was my audition track to get into my band at school. I was the drummer and I got the gig. Awesome stuff!

Amen. I learned to play drums by banging out this song a few hundred times. It's a fun one...
Needs his adenoids removed
My nephew at a younger age liked this.

Me ... no.
I bought this album when it came out. Not sure why. I never once played it (green vinyl), because every time I heard a song from it, it sounded like they couldn't play to save their toes. Dreadful singing too.
Thought my ears were decieving me there, but no! Never would've expected to find Green Day on RP.
Pleasantly suprised!
This track/album never got over played on UK Commercial radio - too 'heavy' (i mean not bland enough) for 'em (yes really)
That moment when you change station for something better and more eclectic, whatever that means

Weird that as I am listening to Carbon Leaf - The Boxer right before this, I am thinking this smacks a bit of old GD.

Loved this when I came out, loved it when I saw them live a couple of years ago, love it now!!!

I also thought the vocals of Carbon Leaf sounded a bit like Green Day in a good way

20 years later and this is still one awesome album.

I like their simplicity and power distortion. That's about it.
Ah, yes.  1994.  This album was moderately enjoyable FM rock.  Never liked anything from them before or since.

Yes! Man this is taking me back to my first band back in high school...awesome.
this song is really only fun when the volume is all up.
never liked them. never will.
From time to time, it's nice to hear this song again and wallow in memories of the 90s :-)

I never cared for the singer's adenoidal voice.  He sounds like a mouth breather.  Other than that, great song!

Didn't expect to hear this work of genius here but so glad I am.  Never underestimate the reach of RP hey.  Green Day's best album by about a million miles.

F' YEAH !
One of the first songs that I really liked. I was about 7 when I saw the video on MTV. They were my favorite band until the very early 2000's. Warning was their last good album.

Strong recommendation, seriously.

I saw them live a few years back.

I left the concert drenched in sweat from dancing so hard.

I must add that I like plenty of newer artists, just not so much the more popular ones. I read SPIN Magazine's top albums of last year and couldn't find much that I knew or liked. That's why I'm thankful for RP, so I can hear new artists that I never would on corporate radio.

Perhaps Green Day has etched a special place for themselves in the American "socially conscious punk scene," and to a large extent kept this genre alive.   I hear the Ramones, the Clash, Sex Pistols—— ( ah, mosh pit anyone ?)  and while some consider them a "sell out," many believe they have stayed true to their core while showing growth, like
all good bands do. {#War}  Green Day is NOT the Enemy ~!    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiKZVV3cH6Q

I'm beginning to see an interesting trend. Many people seem to hate music from the '90's. My guess is that most of them are late 40's to mid 50's now. I'm at the age they were 15-20 years ago. I hate most of the popular current bands, like Arcade Fire, Doves, and The National. To me, they don't stand up musically or emotionally to classic rock, or the grunge, pop-punk, ska, and alternative rock of the '90's. Maybe that's how the haters feel about this music. Who knows, perhaps in 20 years I'll like the current crop of popular bands while the 30 somethings don't. To me this is good, regardless of how much play it got. I don't listen to standard radio much, so it's nice to hear Green Day on occasion.

Being popular doesn't make you bad automatically. Green Day makes a lot of good music, AND they happen to be popular. Deal with it, life isn't always fair. And don't forget to smash your Arcade Fire CDs on the way out the door...
Also, I should mention that for a lot of people my age (who I know are a good portion of the listeners here) Dookie was a big deal to us as younger adults/teens... it was an ubiquotous part of the soundtrack of our lives for alt rock folks from that era, and deservedly so.

Wow, I just posted something similar before your post came through. I agree, this is important coming of age music to me. I hate Arcade Fire the way people who were my age when this came out apparently hated it.

I'm pleasantly surprised!!!{#Bananajam}
I agree with avani. Yes, this song has been way overplayed commercially. But sandwiched in a RP set sets it off and lets me hear it in a fresh way. In the new setting, it seems to have more merit. Not great, not super innovative, but catchy, shoulder-popping, and boppable.
Come on guys... you sounds like a bunch of kuro5hin whiners. Just because something is popular doesn\'t mean its necessarily bad. Many of the things you like here would have been played 20 years ago on CC if it had existed. Me, I like Green Day. Creed isn\'t all that bad either: anything off their first record is good stuff, musically. I\'m not going to judge RP by its artists. I am going to actually listen to the songs and how they fit in the set.
Green Day?? On Paradise?? Didn't see that one coming! Not that I don't like the song, it's alright - but on Radio Paradise it seems odd That's not why I tune in on RP!
Ya gotta be kidding me by playin' this ditty. Why now? When there're tons better out there?

No problem from me. I'd like to hear Queens of the Stone Age, among others.

It is not as easy as you might think, hence not that strange at all. I came to the screen to type that this is one instance that demonstrates how great it would be if we had two possible stops in Paradise - so we could hop between islands when in the mood. I am not speaking of lots of islands because that process can be never ending. Just two options based on tempo. There are times when the absolute best song to hear is "Clampdown" and other times when you the most intensity you can take is "Lost In The Supermarket". Sometimes when you really want to rock, a groove is not as important. You just want crunch. The best can do both, of course, but the issue still is one of tempo. A groove, as long as it is low on crunch, can sometimes still work in a "downtempo" vibe. A separate, "rocky paradise", island would allow for continued jazz and cool classical now and then. Well, anyway, a bit more than my 2 cents. ;) (And don't get me wrong, I can think of LOTS of tunes - from various genres and eras - that I would sometimes love to hear on a Paradise-programmed station. The uptempo station being a click away when I want to rawk, the same Paradise programming sensibility would make the two "islands" A-1 or 1-A; essentially two number ones. )
green day and foo fighters are pretty much in the same category as far as talent goes (not great, not totally lame)

Ordinarily I\'d state that Green Day sucks unfathomable quantities of ass, but I really dig this song. The guitar riff provides a nice background upon which to lay the melody. Nicely done.
love this song/album. thanks for playing it. (and thanks for not giving into naysayers who think mainstream radio play must mean a band sucks.)
