All the way across town
'Cause you've been searching for that someone and it's me out on the prowl
As you sit around feeling sorry for yourself
Well, don't get lonely now
And dry your whining eyes
I'm just roaming for the moment, sleazing my backyard, so don't get
So uptight you've been thinking about ditching me
No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
I heard it all before
So don't knock down my door
I'm a loser and a user, so I don't need no accuser
To try and slag me down because I know you're right
So go do what you like
Make sure you do it wise
You may find out that your self-doubt means nothing, ruins everything
You can't go forcing something if it's just not right
No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
Woo
No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
When I come around
When I come around
When I come around
He was young back then, and we all make hum... odd choices! I guess at least he has a very distinctive voice, like a trademark. Whether you like it or not, you always recognize Green Day!
I suggest you listen to his duet album with Norah Jones, it's a cover album of Everly Brothers songs. Their two voices together sound amazing (and not just because of Norah :-))
One of the worst bands ever. Bad lyrics, juvenile guitar, and contrived vocals. They remind me of the bands that played at my high school talent shows. I've seen interviews with the singer. In response to criticism, he said he wanted the critics to criticize him to his face so he could punch them in the mouth. What a douchebag.
Well,

Psyche!
I cannot stand the way the singer pitches (if it can be called that ) his voice. just because he think it makes him sound more "punk"

I agree. Billie Joe Armstrong writes quite a lot of excellent pop songs.

prick more like, and I understand he is partial to a bit of cock too.
+1
We could say the same thing about your comment. About my comment. About an overplayed song.
Isn't this how the United States wound up with more guns than people?
Brilliant comment, kcar! Sad....true....and so very Sicilian of you ;-) (hopefully that reference hits the mark w/ you)
Long Live RP!!
It could be argued that any further commentary about this song being "overplayed" has that "worn-out feel", though most of us have written that comment for some song, at some point.

Amen. I learned to play drums by banging out this song a few hundred times. It's a fun one...
Me ... no.
Pleasantly suprised!
This track/album never got over played on UK Commercial radio - too 'heavy' (i mean not bland enough) for 'em (yes really)
Loved this when I came out, loved it when I saw them live a couple of years ago, love it now!!!
I also thought the vocals of Carbon Leaf sounded a bit like Green Day in a good way

Amen to that.
RPers were commenting back in 2003 that this was overplayed. Still has that worn-out feel. Liked it alright back in the day...

Strong recommendation, seriously.
I saw them live a few years back.
I left the concert drenched in sweat from dancing so hard.
I am 60 and can say that RP keeps me listening to unbelievable music from many many decades - a lot of my contemporaries are still stuck in time.
Not going to find any hate here (the negativity around some of the comments lights me up every now and then)
Gotta stay open to change, it seems that's all there is
Thanks Bill!
I must add that I like plenty of newer artists, just not so much the more popular ones. I read SPIN Magazine's top albums of last year and couldn't find much that I knew or liked. That's why I'm thankful for RP, so I can hear new artists that I never would on corporate radio.
Perhaps Green Day has etched a special place for themselves in the American "socially conscious punk scene," and to a large extent kept this genre alive. I hear the Ramones, the Clash, Sex Pistols—— ( ah, mosh pit anyone ?) and while some consider them a "sell out," many believe they have stayed true to their core while showing growth, like
all good bands do. Green Day is NOT the Enemy ~! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiKZVV3cH6Q

Like I say on here whenever the indie purists show up... haters gon' hate.
Being popular doesn't make you bad automatically. Green Day makes a lot of good music, AND they happen to be popular. Deal with it, life isn't always fair. And don't forget to smash your Arcade Fire CDs on the way out the door...
Also, I should mention that for a lot of people my age (who I know are a good portion of the listeners here) Dookie was a big deal to us as younger adults/teens... it was an ubiquotous part of the soundtrack of our lives for alt rock folks from that era, and deservedly so.
Wow, I just posted something similar before your post came through. I agree, this is important coming of age music to me. I hate Arcade Fire the way people who were my age when this came out apparently hated it.

Hopefully it's this...
this is okay though there are better Green Day tunes.
That's not why I tune in on RP!Edited By Gonzo at 5:11 pm on 6/01/2003
I'm pleasantly surprised!!!
