When we open our eyes and dream we open our eyes
Under normal we change the wind
Facing every direction
Planted in the future we live two lives
All to reveal a secret we can't hide
When we open our eyes and dream we open our eyes
We search the sky planets chasing stars
Pulling toward deep affection
Weights and numbers measure a wound that won't heal
All to reveal a secret we can't hide
When we open our eyes and dream we open our eyes
Under normal we change the wind
Facing every direction
Planted in the future we live two lives
All to reveal a secret we can't hide
When we open our eyes and dream we open our eyes
We search the sky planets chasing stars
Pulling toward deep affection
Weights and numbers measure a wound that won't heal
All to reveal a secret we can't hide
When we open our eyes and dream we open our eyes

Not sure what is going on, but currently the lyrics for Loser by Beck are displaying instead of the lyrics for this song.
This is just not getting old. Volume up.

Ha.
I just got out of the shower and singing, and could have been harmonizing to this song. If I do say so myself.

I love the easy, laid-back, slightly lazy drumming -- perfect. Looks like it's Carla Azar, who I saw live with Autolux many years ago, and she was fantastic. She's also played quite a bit more recently with Jack White and many others.
the production is thanks to T-bone Burnett. This song is heaven to me.
Smells of….snow
This song has been on RP forever (seem to recall hearing it back in the early naughts...) and it's really grown on me. Love the simple arrangement and vocals.

Maybe that's just random chance, though.
That's a very interesting point: Everly Brothers. Yeah.... I hear it.

I am probably on my 75th revisiting of Gilmore Girls (or GG in my house), and we call this the "la la" moment of pretty much every poignant episode.
I'm sorely in need of a new series that comes CLOSE to GG in quality. Except season 7. That one wasn't good (but they lost their writer sooooooo).

Happy for anyone who finds something enjoyable... but to me Gilmore Girls always comes off as a failed attempt to mimic the Moonlighting (and His Girl Friday) dialog formula.

Cool vibes, just needs a little tweak to get the instrumental (especially drums) to chillax,
From the Gilmore Girls soundtrack: I never heard the full song before today!!
Flows beautifully. Nicely done.

My daughter and I used to watch Gilmore Girls together, it was our "date nite" every Wednesday, a chance to sit and catch up. She's now in medical practice, far away, and I only get to see her once or twice a year.
Hearing this gave me the farm fuzzies, I will admit. And I don't mind admitting that I liked that show.
Love that show—I'm working through it on Netflix now, although it can get a bit treacly at times. But hey, it's a great contrast to all the murder mysteries with detectives behaving like emotional zombies because of everything they've experienced. Great acting, good-great plots about nice people in a nice town. A lovely way to wind down at the end of the day.

As cheesy as it sounds, I really like hearing the themesongs from various TV shows every now and again. I remember when BSG came through, there's a little bit of "Aww, I remember how much I enjoyed hearing that..." This makes me feel the same way. Ok, it's embarassing to admit that I both like hearing old TV show theme songs and admit that I watched the Gilmore Girls... ;)

Someday I hope they make a movie that is like Alien vs Predator, except instead of those two, it's KT Tunstall vs Sam Phillips, and they are both zombies. I think it would be a big hit and wouldn't be a stretch for either of them.
Perfect.

Then (1983?), I was a pretty straight-laced 14 yo fundie in small-town Indiana. Now, a less straight-laced 37 yo Episcopal.
Probably oversimplifying to say that my journey paralleled hers, but there's some truth to it.
The only piece of her Christian recording career worth checking out is "The Turning," her first T-Bone album, and last album before leaving that industry . . .

Wow! Great to hear someone else has had bizarre dreams after a breakup (thought I might have been alone, pardon the pun, on that one).
Also, nice, simple way to explain why most relationships don't work out, even if it is a harsh reality.
I bought a Sam Philips CD at a shop in LA, and the clerk was really glad that someone else knew who she was.
I proceeded to tell him all about RP
When Homer Simpson was asked about his kids, he said he loved Bart and Lisa. Then, when reminded that he forgot about Maggie, he said, "I got nothin' against Maggie."
I got nothin' against this song. It's nice and soft. Hey, kinda like Maggie!
I am all for people candidly expressing opinions, and this is quite a nice tune, IMHO.
What I am not for, is people disrespecting each other for their opinions. Opinions are opinions, not reflections of character.
On the guitar part in the very beginning, it sounds like Neil Young's "Pocahontas". Anyone else hear that?
Everybody is entitled on his/her own opinion. If someone doesn't like this quite nice tune, he/she stand in his/her right to use the puke icon. I think this is enjoyable music, but I'm very glad there are numerous other songs where I use the puke image not enough as it is.

She gets absolutely NO play up here in Canada that I know of -- I think the so-called "alternative" station in Toronto played some stuff years ago, but that's it. That said, I have no idea why she isn't bigger, as everything I hear on RP sounds fantastic. Am going to go out and get Fan Dance as I gather this is a good "intro to Sam" album. Any other suggestions from her fans..?

this song\'s been played?

Whenever I hear the opening bars of this one I think it's a Niel Young song. In fact its got a N.Y. flavour throughout. I hope he's getting a cut of the action.
Another great track from Sam Phillips. She really knows how to set a mood, musically. First heard \"Fan Dance\" on RP and ran out to get the CD, and have been a big Sam Phillips fan ever since.
This was very nice. Evocative, as Sam is wont to be.
Nancy Heredia might also like to hear What Do I Do from The Indescribable Wow. Luscious, aching beauty.
