I attended a performance from him at the Golden Bear, a small venue in Huntington Beach, California in the late 1960's. He played all blues and he was fantastic.  So odd hearing him play in this genre. Not sure if I like it. Nonetheless I'm giving him an 8 here for his, and the band's, excellence.

Wow. Thanks for playing this. I heard the Cuban rhythm and singing then...Charlie Musselwhite's voice and distinctive harp playing. What a great fusion of the two styles. Definitely have to pick this one up. Don't know how I missed it back in '99.

Interesting to read what some people say.

Would Muddy Waters have taken Charlie Musselwhite in his band in the 50th if he were only average as harp player? I can't believe this. And if I listen to Charlie Musselwhite I hear an artist really knowing his instrument. Listen to his blues CD's and LP's and you will hear his knowledge of the classics, which he is one of meanwhile. That's nothing someone must like him for, but it's self disqualifying to call him mediocre.

People disliking the song or this kind of music for political reasons? Open your mind and your ears. Noone must like latin american music or everythingl of this continent, or should I say planet, of music. Like the history of blues this music has a history of love to life, dancing and struggling for freedom. So what? Pity for those who can't listen. There's good and bad music in every tradition.

"De gustibus non est disputandum." You can't discuss taste. There's music I don't like. So for me everybody has the right to dislike this song. But respect for the musicians working hard a life long over their music should be no problem imo.

Say what you want about the American paranoia about Cuba that is left over from a bygone era when their relationship with the now-defunct USSR could have possibly caused your "democracy" some pain . . . the fact is that most Americans don't really understand Cuba and the wonderful people that live there. The fact that an offer like this would go without an answer while hundreds of people died is a testament to the bullshit ego that Bush had to hold onto just so he didn't run afoul of his father, his Vice President, and the Republican party.

I think the facts are pretty clear. Cuba offered assistance and they were ignored. Cuba is recognised by most of the world in offering medical assistance to disadvantages countries. . . with the exception of the USA who don't seem to report it for some reason. {#Rolleyes}
